  • Hahaha a stuffed seal hahahaha.

  • I can't believe he brought a fluffy seal to the parliament!

  • wasps, wood lice, wolverines, or worms...

    this man, isn't just a politician... he's a world class writer/spokesman!

  • Pardon me?

Give a Statesman a compliment and what do you get... poppycock from degenerates.

Helpful Definition: Degenerate as it applies means - a person who has declined, as in morals or character, from a type or standard considered normal.

    2. a person or thing that reverts to an earlier stage of culture, development, or evolution.

    3. a sexual deviate.

  • Errmm...that would be sexual 'deviant'. Nice try at being intellectual, though. Hell, you nearly pulled it off.

  • Actually, deviate is appropriate in this context. It means the same as "deviant". Sorry for being pedantic.

  • Thanks Place, I thought to assist him in his rather pathetic use of a thesaurus... however, you had beat me to it...

I think Matthew 7:5 has a pertinent principle should Dave be interested in elevating his current disposition.

Or, as we say in Texas... "clean up your own backyard... before you start looking over my fence!"

  • I want that stuffed seal! Hannan should put it on eBay.

  • This slippery lying British politician should be fired, maybe experience being skinned alive before spouting off. The fact remains Canadian seal massacre is the largest, most vicious assault on wildlife the world has ever seen. The immoral Canadian proved it is corrupt and had to be stopped by Europe. The seal population is dropping like a rock, a catastrophe has been occuring where seal nurseries have disappeared because of ice loss-even DFO propagandists admit 70% of seals will be gone by 2015

  • you know that throughout history were millions of others species which die out, and others took place instead of them

  • I like it. What is unclear however, is whether or not Daniel is just in favour of just reforming the EU, or getting the UK out of it. Daniel seems to keep skirting around this issue, so it's about time we had an honest answer...??

  • Would further add that it ought to be left to the individual property owner as to what they do with the animals on their property. As for the ocean, it's all free game. If there is such a repulsiveness against killing seals, or what have you, then people can voluntarily and individually choose not to participate buying that stuff.

  • Seals are not Canada's "property", Canada doesnt have a right to a single species in the Arctic. 500 years ago on the East Coast there were walrus, giant auks, Labrador ducks, wolves, grizzly bears, polar bears, pilot whales, sea mink & Beothuk people. All were wiped out by invaders who now proclaim they belong & everyone and everything else does not. These ghouls now slaughter seal pups. Beothuk tribe were the original Canadians and they were exterminated to the last person by illegal invaders.

  • "Illegal invaders"? According to whom?

Also, to add to my comment made earlier, animal activists have every right to also spend their resources in providing the land and areas for keeping those animals protected that they are concerned about. But to go to the government and force their will upon everyone else is criminal no matter how you slice it. That would be violating the liberty and property of others.

  • Canadian native tribes are the land owners. So universal agreements to ban drugs violates "rights" when cartels distribute heroin through hundreds of countries and live like pirates? One country shuts them down, they bribe & open up another. Not every country is as deserving as you claim. That's what Interpol is for, to prevent slavery & drugs from rerouting with a unified front against it. It worked in Africa for ivory smuggling & its effective for international cartels that smuggle wildlife.

  • If they don't have the land patent nor the means to reconquer the land, it is not theirs, plain and simple. As for heroine, or any other drug(which I don't use, btw) people have EVERY right to put whatever they want into their own bodies. "live like pirates"? Define whatever the heck that's supposed to mean. If you mean they violate the rights of others, then it is the right of those who are violated to use whatever means necessary to protect their life, persons, or property.

  • Comment removed

  • Tribes owned that land before foreign invaders took it by force & murder so even your own logic says those tribes have the right to use whatever means necessary to protect life, persons, or property from illegal invaders..since a crime was committed in the past that makes it unpunisheable? Are you dense? I guess I'll take advantage of your convenient loophole to possess your home by force, since you don't have the "patent" or the means to "reconquer" your house. Try going to a real law school.

  • international drug smugglers live outside any international boundaries, that's what is meant by "pirates". No country has a right to be a rogue or "pirate" nation and overstep those boundaries either, and that includes damaging the global environment or even committing internal crimes like genocide which violate the lowest standards of humanity.

  • Banning seal products will not help keep them alive. If you let people make money off of seals, then they would have an incentive to keep them alive.

  • Daniel, stop with the rational arguments- you'd do better using crayons and crape paper to illustrate your point to these mushrooms. Your talking to people who think they know where real food comes from...out of cans.

  • This guy is awesome. I hope he inspires the UK like Ron Paul inspired so many in the US.

  • He will, but the Labour Party are already attacking him, to try and discredit him if he tries running for the House of Commons :(

  • Incisive advocacy in favor of federalism, States' rights, and representative democracy. Bravo, Mr. Hannan, you are a desperately needed voice. You're the first elected representative to move me since President Reagan.

  • If you want to save the seals then we should start eating them........ never have you heard of a chicken or cow shortage.

  • lol what a great (and humorous) point

  • You have a point. But that is exacly what the Inuit in Greenland and Nunavut are doing. They have been hunting these critters for years - for food.

In some Greenland villages, it is one of the only sources of vitamins.

Now, with this legislation, they cannot sell the kins anymore - which, according to a Greenland minister, comes pretty darn close to "cultural genocide".

How Europeans, who have nothing against eating battery chicken and eggs, defend this new law is a mystery to me.

  • Nonsense, the people of Greenland eat chickens, eggs and most of what you eat. Get a grip! Become informed!

  • Here is a news flash for you: In order to have Chicken, eggs, clothing, heating you need ------wait for it - : MONEY.

How do you get that money in villages like Thule? By selling the skins of the seals you shoot to eat in the first place.

And remember - the things you buy round the corner - will have to be sailed in to the villeges alonge the east and west coast, meny of whom are closed in the winter. So, you need to know long in advance what you need.

  • Love this guy.

  • cute toy. Where'd he get it? lol

  • Does anyone here know if BBC America or any American channel will air the live results of the European Parliament elections?

  • When are they? I'm in the states, but I'm very interested in knowing the results.

  • The elections themselves are June 4th through the 7th.

  • probably not. The way of counting the votes differs from country to country.

    Anyway - who cares.

  • I wonder how much that Beanie Baby was.... :P

  • It took 5 dead baby seals to make that beanie baby. Won't someone think of the Childern!

  • We ARE thinking of the children!

A young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled.

    I love children!

  • Swiftian! Bravo!

  • the world would be a better place if there were more DH's about 5s

  • I am so surprised that something as nonsensical as laws about seal hunting could have been treated seriously and a serious answer been posed to the question, and yet, Mr. Hannan, you have managed just that. Well done.

  • I love how he "slipped the jab" there... he really is sharp, he once again defferred to the wisdom of the people outside the EU to solve a problem, since no wisdom exists within it...lol

  • Perfect ending! I laughed a lot. As a resident in the SE of England, I really hope your name is on my ballot paper in June!

To Everyone: Whether you agree or not, vote in the EU elections. A high turnout is needed.

  • I honestly have no idea who to vote for - I'll have to research who, in my area (central Scotland), has the most similar policies to Hannan/Paul - as it is these two politicians I seem to agree with most!

I have a feeling I will be dissapointed but we'll see.

  • i love him.

  • Mr. Hannan, as a resident of the South East I would like to say thankyou for restoring some of my faith in politics and politicians, you are an inspiration - and please listen to Caryson 122 and run for PM, you would definitely get my vote every single time :-)

  • Mr. Hannan you are a true patriot in ther true sense of the word. Keep it up you are an amazing person.

  • agree we need him as a PM . he's crystal clear

  • What a clear, sparkling mind.

  • Mr. Hannnan - Please run for PM!

  • I thought you were going to say it should be decided by referendum!

  • how can one man be right 100% of the time? Amazing like just amazing :)

  • Democracy only works when it suits the controlling powers, otherwise corrupt puppet governments make do.

  • If Dan doesn't give a smokes about seals, then neither do I.

  • Hehe, Those seals are cute though. Love your work, Mr. Hannan.

  • Seal slaughter is still a slippery slope. (say that 3 times fast)

Dan Hannan is a magnificent orator. The people of Britain ought to be proud to have such an eloquent and intelligent representative.

  • Damn right. EU = centralisation of power.

  • If the drugged up and lazy sluggards of my country can have a Kenyan Muslim that can't even produce a birth certificate for President, I don't see why WE THE PEOPLE can't have Mr. Hannan the next time around. Hannan for US President!

  • now there's a thought!!!

  • I thought the WWF was the 'worldwide wrestling federation'. Why are they bothering making statements about seals?

    ;)

  • ummmmm...ya

  • Pity he does not have the spine to state what vile acts of Muhammed he condemns: But then by doing so he might show some spine and that is not PC what so ever in Dhimmi Land where Peter Pan and Robin Hood are national icons !

  • NATIONAL democratic mechanisms and procedures???

    That's crazy talk!

  • As inefficient and flawwed as the systems are, without them you have just a few people at the top making decisions for all the people. What he is saying is if a handful of politicians consider the people wrong on the seal issue and overrule them, than it wont be long before they are doing it on other more important issues.

  • sarcasm detection failure detected.

  • Work it Dan!

  • luv the little cuddly seal in his hands..

  • Keep doing what your doing Dan

    Excellent!

  • Classic.

  • nice
