Asking Alexandria is good. You have to get over the fact that they are. Yes they WERE boosted by a good looking singer and the mainstream scene chicks, but it doesn't mean they lacked the talent to get where they are in the first place. Live show=better. They're not standing there like emotionless stumps. If you cherish their old sound so much, As Blood Runs Black released Instinct and The Black Dahlia Murder released Ritual. Also, music is subjective. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean its bad. A rather large mass of people think its good so i'd imagine they're doing something right. And I honstly think that the leads and rythms were written better and compliment each other well on this record.
