Having played Conan for years,Skyrim is a big disappointment, in terms of graphics.. I expected to be impressed, but not at all. Conan is gorgeous because it didnt have to pander to the crappy console graphics and control system Skyrim did. Whats the point of building a great computer when every game is optimized for xbox?

The parallax mapping is destroyed -_- ( google age of conan dx10 and look at the image showing a character at a campfire.. and look at the ground. ITS GONE) And so are the epic waves in the water in Tortage Night!
People should really forget about the launch days and go back and play. Games like RIFT are just like WoW atleast AOC has a different feel to it and has stuck true to its own. I stopped playing about a year ago, but not cause of the game, it had improved so much even back then.
High resolution textures still missing, especially on the character models, ugh.
As bad as it was (although it's been steadily improving over the last few months), FFXIV has the best character models and animations I've ever seen in an MMORPG to date. The only problem with FFXIV is that, well, SSAO is completely bugged and there's draw distance problems, copy/paste issues and the complete lack of any sort of environmental dynamic shadows.
I played this MMO for a year. It was great, I loved every minute of it and I miss it very much, but I don't have the money to continue playing. :( One of the best mmos our there, truly.
I played AoC about a year and a half ago on DX9 and I LOVED the graphics and music in the game so much! I am really glad AoC is still improving their graphics and performance, especially since I will be able to experience the new effects (Godrays) in DX9.
This is perhaps the only MMO in which I actually enjoyed gathering resources. This is because the graphics were so wonderful that I just couldn't stop appreciating them, especially in Poitain.
i start playing on release, gave up on october 2008, start again april 2009 until october/november 2010, gona give it another try when Hardcore pvp server comes out, FC PLEASE dont make me give up once for all, :D
this game is amazing ,it have everything anygamer would want in it ...but the reason i left it is because the servers are empty and and they really really have to merge them .
Vanilla AoC is a great game now. I left because of the insane korean style grind the expansion introduced. I will reactivate my account if they soften it with 1500-2000 non-repeatable quests, great storylines, new PvP system. All dungeons are awesome. No other MMO is worth a mature player's time so I only play single player games nowdays.
I been playing AoC on and off for a year. Very enjoyable as a online PvE Conan action RPG.Too bad this video doesn't show any combat or fatalities.Can you imagine loping off heads and limbs using your broadsword with graphics like this? It's pretty exciting and no other game I have seen offers anything like it. Then there is the Conan lore which is cool. If your rig runs it, the game is stunning. Check out the free trial lvl 1-20 unlimited play. If you like it you will like lvl 20-80 as well.
i played this game since closed beta, despite the instability i fell in love with the it and after 2 years away i look forward to reactivating my account once i get my rig back :D those who have any brains i look forward to seeing you soon!!!!
@BeeblesTV after lvl 20 the game lost its feeling of a good story and became a grind to max level, grinding games gets old fast, also the keep warfare was buigged as hell, a few people could wipe out an entire player city...
Wish they would go free to play, it might revive this game.
FXAA sucks ass, besides blurring the textures, i barely notice any diference in edge smoothness, too much jaggies still and to be honest not worth the extra quality reduction.
@weissraider sorry, I gave AoC 2 chances, first with their closed beta and live, then a year or so after release. The game was terrible at release and it was terrible when I went back to it. I guarantee more people play Minecraft than AoC. ;)
Make a new MMO with this engine.. MAke it fun..Make it BIG.. Make it open . Make it have a very good fun crafting system. Make it open world PvP. Big battle in open world zones

This game will always be plagued by it's launch even though it's far more polished now. MMO's lives and deaths are determined by their first impressions and AoC showed up on that first date wearing a t shirt, hit on your sister and the waitress, made you buy the dinner and drinks, then puked in your car and didn't clean it. Just cause it's now dressed properly, shaved and finally got a job, most will never take it for a spin again. Sorry AoC, Rift is the new hotness and they didn't screw it up.

@David281190 If you get the same fps regardless of settings in Rift and AoC runs 5x+ faster you either have HUGE issues with your machine or you're straight up lying. If your pc is ghetto enough that you can't top 15 fps on mid settings in Rift you aren't even approaching 50fps in AoC on high. I call fanboism optimization. You obviously missed my whole point in the first place. AoC is not a bad game. FC ruined it's chances of being truly great by releasing a build that barely qualified as beta.

@David281190 Then it's your setup + their engine = suck. I have zero issues on 3 different machines, one being a 2 year old laptop. Are you rocking ATI or nVidia? Mine are all nVidia and apparently the gamebryo engine hates ATI cards but if you can hit 50fps in AoC at max settings you still should be far beyond playable in Rift.
Ive played this game Nearly since release. And the game received a lot of complains some months after the release. But Funcom did not giving up the game and still working to improve the "bugs". And they still working to improve it. And now they have improved the game so much that it makes me sad to hear players who tried the game on 21 may 2008 still condemned the game as " unfinished". The game is now worth a new start.

@brauta88 yeah I know I bought the collectors edition when it came out, and after lvl 20 I was felling let down by the game, I reached lvl 68 and then I just quitted, now the game is very fun to play, but for me, all my friends left the game, and returned to their previous mmo's lotro and wow Now I am playing rift, and might wait for a special offer from Funcom to tease me playing this game again!
@lordpatrice This is my whole issue with AoC as it sits. I kinda want to fire it back up cause I really liked the content but everyone I know won't give it even a glance after being burned 2 years ago beyond the fact that the world isn't as heavily populated as Rift or WoW. Those 2 Ms in MMORPG are the reason we play these games instead of other stuff offline. Nobody is paying $15/month for the game alone, they're paying for that game with all their friends and huge community.

@brauta88How good is the siege warfare/PVP in AoC? I remember at release playing barbarian in PVP was just the most epic PVP experience I ever went through. I wud sneak up on 2-3 people, clobber them, and while they're writing on the ground, quickly kill one of htem, then run away, duck out of LoS and stealth (which used to be possible). It was just amazing.... tried it later and they had removed stuff like that.

I agree with you BUT: Overviewed, AoC isn't anything else than a titt-show with some gore and slashing elements ;). The crafting sys is crap and that instantiation of neare evers 10 miles of area makes me feel like I am in a very little sandbox.
I am sorry to say that I played AoC on release, I played for 3 months, then I had done everything that wasn't bugged(iirc even architect thingy was bugged back then). So 1 year later I figured Funcom had fixed their bugs, maybe given us more content etc. So I logged in on my Necromancer who was logged in Keshatta, got corpsecamped for 30 minutes, logged out started a new toon, 24 hours later I was level 56 and got bored, stopped playing. also tried new expansion, but meh.. no thanks.

Really breathtaking game. I wish the PvP aspect of it wouldnt kill it for me. Games require realtime combat both defense and attack to deal with ganking. Let real skill determine an outcome of an fight, not level and equipment.
@iRacerMatt Yes it would be, and it was before 1.05. Gear meant almost nothing in pvp and thats where it should have stayed. When they changed the game to be more like wow, many people who were sold on the game for its skill based "real combat system" felt betrayed and left. You can still have and RPG (role playing Game) and an active fast paced combat system that relys on player skill rather than the equipment your character has. The leveling is fine, because it doesnt take very long to max.
@Bodytatoo The Anarchy Online forums(Community corner, friday with means) have some info and screenshots, they promised very late Q1 release, or a Q2 release. My bet is they will release it with the 10 year aniversary of Anarchy online(coming this june)
