  • The Car in Temptation was $9000 nice but the gifts were still LOW, compared to the GIFTS now seen in Temptation, one 5000, why so low for 1983?

  • YT police is starting to crack down on the TPIR and shutting down all the good classic eps. :(

  • Get rid of those intros in all your videos.

  • @jmangin I stopped doing them a good while back!

  • Cars were already upto $9,000 in 1983 wow, not bad.

  • Bob tried like five times to get the last number to reveal itself, but when he couldn't, that's when the contestant took matters into her own hands.

  • TOOTSIE!!!

  • My oldest sister was born on 12/31/83, so she would've been born a few days later.

  • I have 6:57-7:16 on my 'The Price is Right' Wii System.

  • Holy shit, a 1000 dollar christmas tree? Even by today's standard thats insane ammount

  • @rjh00

I know, I don't even think my christmas tree cost that much, and we had the same one my whole life.

  • wOw a NEW car wit 4 numbers in it? wut year is this? gettin close to 5 numbers tho

  • @paulyvi

    1983

  • @paulyvi: 4 digit cars weren't uncommon on tpir for many years after this, i have eps taped from the spring and summer of 1991 where many 4 figure priced cars were given away...

  • It seems Temptation was easier to win in the old days, today it's harder.

  • and she (to me) is playing the hardest game on the whole show to win a car... (until "THAT'S TOO MUCH") LOL

  • @bambam2124

Thanks for the nice comment. That was me playing that game and it was the most stressful few minutes of my life. I did not appreciate the lag time it took to see the last number come down. That was way too much for me to handle!

  • this is on the PC game too, but i didnt realize that it was from way back in 83..... from the looks of bob there, i was thinkng more around 86-87

  • when they check for the last one for Temptation is also in the Wii game

  • Hard to believe telephones cost that much then.

  • Actually, $11,793 if you add in the Christmas Tree, nearly $12,000 for 1983, not too bad.

  • Bob: "and that last number is....

will never know I'm sorry but You'll have to call tomorrow and we'll tell you" LOL

  • $1,152 for a Christmas tree? That is Scrooge!!!

  • For 1983?

  • Yup. Good lord that's a lot of money. I could buy one for $40 and it would still work as good.

  • If you'll look carefully to the far right at 1:11

you can just about see 3 Strikes Game

as the camera cuts to Bob Barker. Today,

the show hides games like this more

often, so that they can never be seen until

    the curtains reveal them all.

  • @1980sVideoVault i dont see know 3 strikes game at all all i see is presents

  • Ah, the (in)famous Chrimstmas Tree IUFB. :)

  • Let's see: by my calculations the original broadcast date for this was December 22, 1983.

  • I think that last number gets stuck to add more excitement to the win, if it happens in Temptation.

  • I've seen this video before on December 22, 1983 and there is video clip on YouTube of this lady playing the game and she won the car in Temptation however, the game was malfunctioned because Bob Barker could NOT push the last button on the price of the car.

  • The moment happens at 6:49

  • The player won $10,641 in prizes. That's $35,000 in 2009.

  • bob couldn't reach that high for a karate kick...

  • Hey, you used the MG-HSH theme instead of the TPIR theme. What gives?

  • Better yet, why even have those silly bumpers in the first place?

  • I agree I think 10 years w/o TPIR on GSN is FAR too long.

  • Don't blame them; blame CBS.

It's a plan to attract new viewers to their new episodes.

  • Yeah, I've had enough of this!

In fact BCI and Fremantle Media should make more TPIR DVDs to cover the rest of the years.

  • Tell that to the fanboys Mike! I'm glad there is at least one reasonable person who is not living in the past and can accept the present.

  • Bob pwns Drew 20 times over but Drew is still a very good host for TPIR.

  • @mtiller2006

I agree, he's no Bob Barker, but I do like the job he's doing regardless.

  • Mike thank you for posting this episode

and GSN really should get the back to the Price is Right

  • I've given him a chance, and he's actually getting worse as times goes on. He talks way too fast, doesn't care about the contestants or the games, can't even explain the games clearly, and frankly seems bored onstage. I honestly feel even I could do a better job hosting.

  • Amen to that! I have never blamed Drew for anything, he's just doing his job. It may not be the way Bob did, but I'm OK with it.

  • I absolutly agree.

  • I like Drew just because he's being himself. If he copied everything Bob did, that wouldn't be a good thing.

  • I think all that's because of all the changes that's been going around since Roger left the show for unexplained reasons.

  • You are right about that, Mike. At first I didn't think he would do too well, but I have to admit he's improved since his first few months with the show.

  • Drew is doing the best job he possibly can. Much like you can't compare eras in sports, you can't compare the Barker era in TPIR to Carey's. The show is Drew's now and he's doing a decent job in hosting it. The production comopany, on the other hand, is another issue.

  • I'm not so sure about that. I'm sure some people thought the same thing you did when Bob Barker started hosting after Bill Cullen did the original for nine years. Just give it some time and I think Drew will nail it just fine.

  • Watch the early Barker episodes, and while he wasn't as good as ten years later, he was still having fun, knew how to deal with an audience (years of hosting TofC helps), and could explain the games. Drew can't do that at all, and in fact he's getting worse, almost like he doesn't care.

  • @mtiller2006 drew carey knows the games jsut as well as barker he might not play them in pre intros in the same manner but he does a great job

  • @someguy23475 drew knows the rules, bob made mistakes too where he said in a 3 strikes playing in the late 90's u explain the rules to me, drew isnt like that he knows the rules and in case there are new viewers at home hell explain the rules and most contestants who get up on there know the rules to every game

  • No offence to Rod or Rich, but it's good to hear Johnny Olson yelling "Come on down!"

  • Ya I agree, He was the best announcer of all time

  • 4:33-4:42 Janice's legs are really slender!!!

  • Great posting as always, Michael.

  • I wonder if the machine "acted up" on purpose, because it seemed too coincidental. But it was great fun to watch!

    Good post, mtiller!

  • That was a funny moment there. Bob has had his share of mechanical issues during his 35 years hosting PRICE.
