  • line 6 variax, what was he thinking about? He has an olson parlour, if je needs to travel light!

  • Poor man, stuck on that shallow-body p.o.s. guitar - so unresonant it almost sounds like an unplugged solid-body. He overcomes it, though, like the artist that he is.

  • eres uno de mis preferidos dios te bendiga un abrazo!!

  • James Taylor's voice has aged like fine wine

  • Justin Bieber disliked this 4 times

  • theres absolutely nothing wrong with this guitarplay. i love it

  • @lnnerPeace Right, Nothing wrong with the guitarPLAY, it's just a p.o.s. guitar he was playing...for what ever reason ??

  • Such Talent - Awesome James!

  • James is a classical trainend guitarplaier, you try his playing and singing. You'll be afraid of your own in capability. He's amazing good.

  • I don't know...THAT is NOT the JT guitar sound...maybe technical problems but he he's all pro, right? Show goes on. The crowd did not seem to dislike...

  • @quad1000 Looks some ovation - the sound is not his typical full sound.

  • not a fan of that particular acoustic guitar gives a very trebley sound, i like smooth bassy guitars. you know what they say treble=trouble. lol jk but i like this version very intimate.

  • @XxLetsTalkGamesxX agree, too twangy for me. still great though no doubt

  • no one is even kinda like JT, one of a kind....

  • this is his best song

  • I have the vinyl somewhere.

    A great album.

  • He just upsets me cause how much better this man is then anything to come out in the past 10 years just a legend!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who's the 3 Dislikes? What's wrong w/them?

  • He is kinda like jack johnson.

  • James is clearly one of the greatest acoustic guitar players of all time. The things he does effortlessly are the things most high level professional players strive their entire lives to do

  • love this song listen to it over and over again

  • this song does not make me happy... but what it says to me is no matter what happens i will always be able to find happiness and that i will prevail

  • woww..his one of a kind..he has a rare voice..a brearthtaking voice!!he gonna blow up your boredom and make your day awesome™...LOVE YOU JT♥♥♥...sounds good♫♫♪♪♫♪...;)

  • Ok...I begin to like the tune.. But the guitar sounds real awful!!

  • I love James Taylor too! ..One of a kind voice! :D

  • By the way, who is Jack Johnson? (seriously)

  • guys james taylor is a trillion times better than Jack Johnson and i think Jack Johnson is good

  • Who's the one guy who disliked this? lol wow. c'mon...

  • Who's the one guy who disliked this? lol wow. c'mon...

  • music is not about level it's about how you play it dude :D

  • sad -----james is old

  • @MultiShades SAD?? the man is an icon-second act signed by the Beatles on Apple records (after Badfinger) in 1970. A lifetime of achievment and hundreds of songs we can never forget is SAD? you are f'n sad you moron. he has lived a wonderful life-maybe you will do as well at his age

  • Awesome!! :D

  • lol. he forgets the words in the first lines of the song. still an amazing musician.

  • James Taylor is God.

  • ""Mexico" at a Borders?????? Get that man to a beach!

  • What the hell? That guitar has absolutely NO RESONANCE!

  • lynk

I LOVE this guy , this song , Mexico!

  • GREAT performance..and I leave for Mexico in six hours!

  • makes my heart sing.

  • James Taylor could sing a capella, and I'd still sit there and listen until the last note. Love the voice, love the songs, love the subtle energy.

  • JT IS THE MAN!

  • I remember when JT was trying to make a name for himself in the very early 70s. His brother Livingston & sister Kate also had one or 2 records on the charts. It was a time for the Taylor family.

  • A true legend and a nice guy. Very talented.

  • for real, why is he playing that shit guitar? it sounds terribad

  • I must agree. Where's his lovely little Olson?

  • @PreacherRickie he tucked it in a while ago :P

  • which borders was he playing??

  • Ann Arbor, MI

  • I look to James as an example of a person who ages gracefully, comfortable in his skin.

  • i love his music

  • That is the worst sounding 6 string I've ever heard, and yet he still makes it work for him.

  • I love how much he enjoys himself when he plays. It's cool just to watch how much he loves it.

  • I'll be whistling this on the beach in Cozumel on August the 1st. Whoo-hoo!

  • I LOVE JAMES TAYLOR! He's just amazing!

  • I totally agree with you. Every CD in my car is JT! I grew up listening to him and now I'm raising my kids on his music. HE'S THE BEST EVER!!!

  • The master. The genius. The one and only JT.

  • Anyone know what brand of guitar that is he's playing? Definitely not one of his Olsens... the body looks too thin, with a sound to match.

There's something beautiful about James's sons & performance with everything stripped away--even his voice sounds completely stripped down when it's not pumped through preamps for a stadium show. It's like hearing him play in your living room.

Shame about the empty bass end on the guitar. He plays really well and shouldn't have to wrench on it so hard.

  • It's a line 6... and nowhere near as good as his olsens!

  • yes, it's a variax from line 6, simi-solid guitar with lots of preset guitar tunes including a 12-string guitar sound.

  • I love this song!

  • Love this. It's just fantastic.

  • i love the end!! XD whahaha

  • Jack Johnson could play this easily, it would just put you to sleep when he sang it because it would be so soft and boring.

  • @Danklin24 Not to be obnoxious but being a huge jack fan i still gotta say its highly unlikely jack johnson could play this. James Taylor uses complex and safisticated chords where Jack uses almost all first position and bar chords, Jack does not claim to be a great guitarist though.

I love Jack Johnson but his guitar work is not his claim to fame, more his lyrics and soothingness in his voice

  • @kadleckyle Fair enough. I do think Jack has his fair share if songs that showcase pretty good guitar playing such as Poor Taylor. True a lot of people on Youtube alone can play it, but still a pretty difficult song for most people. Haha but i cant think of any more off the top of my head but i personally think Jack is a pretty good guitarist in his own right.

  • @Danklin24 Just getting back from a Jack Concert last night in Michigan i will say this, Jack Johnson has HUGELY increased his playing skills in the last couple years. in his genre of music ill agree he is not a bad guitarist at all.

  • @kadleckyle Obviously Jack Johnson isn't as talented of a guitarist as James Taylor but being a professional musician I'm sure he could play this song. Jack plays simple songs because that's his style and it's what people expect from him but he still can kick ass on the guitar.

  • @ghostrideit19 yeah like i was just saying to Danklin i just saw Jack live last night and his playing has increased tremendosly in the last couple years. And i agree, what i meant were that his skills were not on the same level as james taylor, but many people dont realize that there are very very few who are on that level. I agree though, for his style of music Jack rocks with his guitar, regardless of the complexity or difficulty

  • hahaha omg exactabob so true

  • you're really great JT!

  • JT is about five years older than me and I know to enjoy him now because within a few years.......you won't hear the same JT....although he may still perform. I think I'll still love his sound then......but it won't take me back like it still does.

  • if you wonder how a guy can go on and on like JT.....you see it in this clip........he still loves it.........

  • nice video

  • this vid is probably the best quality one i've ever seen on j00tube. good job, borders! good job, james!! :-)

  • he is one of the best.

  • soo sweet.. this song speaks to me..

  • hes guitar style's great!!!!

  • class in a glass! love him

  • Long haired or bald...even after all these years JT can STILL make me smile/cry with his songs.

  • yeah....incredible sound....

  • Beautiful guitar playing and singing. Hard to do both; he does just fine.

  • lmao

  • this is a great song.

  • He's kinda like Jack Johnson in a way, yet very different. It's great.

  • lol.. jack johnson couldn't play this

  • what makes you say that?

  • Oh god. Someone shoot me now. 'He's kinda like Jack Johnson'?? Kid, please Google James Taylor (and never insult the man like that again). I'm only teasing you a little here... but seriously, Google him.

  • Who are you calling "kid"? I'm 33 years old my friend. I don't considering comparing James Taylor to Jack Johnson an insult. In fact, I'd say it's a pretty good complement.

I'm comparing them because their style of playing and singing are similiar in that it's very soothing and relaxing.

So please spare me the Google him bullshit.

  • hey hey there... relax- didn't i say i was only teasing you a little?

and yes even at 33 you're a kid to me. ;-)

i totally took what you said as a compliment. it was just ill-stated. compliments work out better when you honor the person who helped defined the art form (JT) rather than the noob (Jack).

...in other words, Jack is 'kinda like' JAMES... not the other way around.

  • Seriously exactabob... I wouldn't even put those two in the same sentence. Jack Johnson is boring. James Taylor is master of the understatement. (Normally I'd have separated those statements with a semi-colon, but I'm avoiding putting them in the same sentence!) I can't even remember a single Jack Johnson song myself and probably wouldn't know him from a hundred others of his ilk. James stands out, whether or not you care for his music.

    Signed, a 37-year-old kid. :P

  • thank you forgetfulmuse - i was beginning to lose all hope! :-D

  • what they mean gocubs is you don't know what your talking about.i was offended as well for james by your well ment comparison.seriously try to emerse yourself in jt for a month and if you dont get it yet, you might need to wait awhile get some life experience jack johnson knows nothing about. by the way take some jt on a cross country drive for best effec!

  • @exactabob : Good one...he's "kinda like Jack Johnson?" lol Jack Johnson would even be embarrassed by that. But seriously, what the hell of an excuse for a guitar is he playing? Inexcusable for an artist like him.

  • @gocubs033: You are right, Jack Johnson is kinda like James Taylor in a way.
