  • Thanks for the upload. I saw this on video years ago and it was great to see it again.

  • very impressive film, great acting! but they would have done better leaving the ending like it is in the book - soooooo beautiful and sweet! read the book, by any means!

  • Now she's got the man and the money (assuming there's still some left from Arthur). Man, that's the way to go!

  • Awe wow I totally fell for that, I thought he'd married her! Really loved this, it was so good! xx

  • Thanks for taking the time to upload this miniseries. I was a wonderful period film.

  • Beautiful ending, great acting by all. If an actor can make you hate him by just pretending, then he deserves an award.

Sadly, this depicts life for a lot of women in those times and before, and down to our present time. It takes abuse of the children for some women to finally literally run.

    Thanks again for the upload.

  • @wegotforever Please! Some women don't want to run even after the abuse of their own children which sometimes happens straight away!

  • @jrmetmoi You are so right, I understand. I was not in any way putting anyone down because of the choices they make in an abusive situation. I was only speaking from my experiences in life. I have a love one who chose to stay from fear & no where to go.

In my case, that woke something deep inside of me that, that man could not handle, it terrified him. The fear in me was gone & the old fighter in me had returned. I left before I would spend the rest of my life in prison & he was 6 ft. under.

  • wow, great film

  • gosh I have mixed feelings. I understand that having a drunkard for a husband must have been hell - and I hate what he was trying to do with the boy -but this woman is so dead serious and stiff she gives me the creeps! :(

And frankly, I dont see much fire in Toby either :))

  • Dark yet beautiful, this book is sooo heavy, no wonder Anne didn't write many more, this one alone must have taken a lot out of her emotionally not to mention alot of courage for the age.

  • For those of you who like Toby Stevens in this and Jane Eyre, you might also want to take a look at Shakespeares Twelfth Night, with Ben Kingsley as well. :)

  • love this scene!!! :)

  • thanks for uploading,it made my day to discover this :)

  • Thank you so much for putting this up!! I used to watch it on Netflix Instant Play, but they just took it off - only the DVD now... :(

Now I've gotten my fix for a while ;-)

  • "A Year?!" love that part :)

  • Ok, so Markham knows how to do it: one sweet kiss that DOESN'T MAKE ANY NOISE, and then you walk off holding hands. Good job!

  • Anyone who knows what music that is playing in the end(well, it's kind of playing through the whole scene, but the singing starts around 2:00)?

  • oh YAY.

  • Oh thank god............hes not married..........biggest suprise of my life ARRRRRR ............Kiss Kiss and life happily eva afta Lol !!!

  • This music kills it for me.

  • @sdblosom I agree

  • Thank you so much for posting. This series left much to be desired, but it was still enjoyable. Does anyone know where I can find this score? It's so pretty!

  • wonderful series. thanks for uploading!! :)

  • The other girl married someone else...he said she was blissfully happy. *sigh* I do love a happy ending! ;)

  • Toby is such a handsome man!! I fell in love with him and the 1800 look suits him so well! I loved him in Jane Eyre and here in Tenant of Wildfell Hall he is even more handsome! Gosh, I want my own Mr. Rochester and Mr.Malcom!!!

  • @emyblond *Markham

  • @emyblond He is in Onegin to, also with the 1800's look. Ralph Fiennes is in that movie to, and Liv Tyler. Lots of handsome people. Haha. No, but it's quite a good movie.

  • I'm sorry but this music kills me.

  • What an amazing series! I'm glad he didn't marry the other girl! Phew that was close. =)

  • Best part ever: 0:36 "Oh Helen!", jumps over the rill, "You thought..." :D :D

  • Anne Bronte...though she was not as "popular" as her sisters, I still think she is one of the best authors ever...she was the first feminist! Go Anne!

  • I hope that women who have tendencies to be martyrs don't make a hero of the main character and erroneously convince themselves that it is commendable for a spouse to put up with rape, emotional and physical abuse, and abuse to your children. Many women live like this, but that TOO is an emotional disease. You do NOT have to put up with that to be a good person: love an respect yourself and seek help when help in needed!

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand It's 1:30am. Time to dream of Toby.

  • I am grateful for the upload! Thanks so much

  • Thank you for the upload. I've never read the book or seen the movie before, but enjoyed it immensely. :)

  • Helen shouldn't be blamed for believing the lies Huntington shows of his character in the beginning. I too believed the lies of my ex's character. Eventually the lies are revealed and the flaws show through. Then you pick up the pieces of a broken life and find joy in living with peace.

  • i was so glad with the happy ending. i thought they would never get together. it's so hard to find a good guy with morals and integrity. i'm happy for her finding happiness at last. p.s. i also think she should have listened to her aunt when she warned her about the husband at the beginning of the story. :-)

  • AHH i love happy endings.

  • Much of life IS dark, no matter when the story is written of lived.

Thank you for this great upload....I am now on the hunt for more!

  • Thanks again! Great adaptation. Check out my channel for more adaptations of classic literature, including more of the Bronte sister works!

  • Toby Stephens: I cant say I watched this entire series for any other reason!!

  • Okey, my post on part 3-5. I thought he married the other lady and ran off from her. Oh boy. I feel dumb

  • *sigh* This was SO GOOD! I can't believe it took me so long to watch it!

  • Brilliant series, thanks very much miti!

  • Oh wow I seriously thought he married that other girl! Thank god he didnt! Great movie! Thanks for uploading!

  • All three Bronte sisters are equally talented. Must've been incredible to have such sisters.

  • Hmmmm.... I think Anne Bronte did get overshadowed by her sisters and she deserves loads more credit, but I don't think this is as good. I haven't read the book yet though so I might change my mind. Jane Eyre is my favourite, Wuthering Heights has it's good moments but I have issues with it :P lol

  • @skulblaka92 Anne is realism and Charlotte and Emily is romanticism.

  • @skulblaka92 I personally found the book to be the best of the Brontes work but it does have some problems. For me personally, I found it less problematic than other novels (though i loved Villette when I was a teenager) but I read it when I was older than when I read their other works by which point, I'd got a bit tired of victorian gothic/general romance.

  • i'd wish they'd never finish.... :)

  • Thank you so much for posting these!

  • Many people have told me that anne is not as good as her sisters but i say she is this is great i can not wait to read the novel , which i'm hearing is better.

  • is it only me who think that toby stephens became hotter than when he first appeared in this film???

  • @sapphirearisa No no, we are all in complete agreement!

  • OMG i just found out toby's mother is maggie smith....I'm really surprised me...but no wonder he's brilliant and I think i see a likeness

  • That was not that bad. I think that it was a good film even though it did get a little graphic and icky but overall good! :) thanks for posting the movie Miti155

  • ask me in a years time WHAT! marry him now u have been miserable long enough

  • @anon72390 ahh yes..however..in those times there was ,i believe an acceptable time of mourning..and you saw how she was treated when they disapproved of her..it was a different time.

  • Finally....Some happiness for her. Thanks so much for posting this!!

  • Thanks for the upload but this film was a bit off from the book. If any of you haven't read it, you should! Anne Bronte at her finest.

  • Thanks miti for uploading this- it was very good!

  • What a wonderfull story, love can destroy and love can rebuild. It's a great message, and so practical of Helen to have him wait a year, it does show that she has gained expirience. This all proves her point earlier about how young girls shouldn't be sheltered or else they will never know what danger is out there or what goodness is out there.

  • @TheAzbycxdwevfu

More Like choose your love wisely, and dont let your heart get away with your head. And finally love cures all things.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! I had only seen the version aired on WGBH Boston, and I was amazed at how much they cut out! This version has so many scenes I'd never seen before. I will definitely buy the British DVD.

  • This movie reminds me of The Duchess.

  • @lindsayinwonderland But with somewhat a better ending of course.

  • this scene almost reminds me of the one from jane eyre, where mr. rochester proposes, and he is wondering what she is talking about when she says that he is as good as married to blance ingram, both great and toby stephens is the best :)

  • Yay!! He's still single!! I thought he married that twit!!

  • Thank you so very much for making this series available.

  • Ahhh-Thank goodness he wan't married-great movie--3 goodlooking leading men-thank you

  • A new favourite - so real - so eternal

  • Remember: the good guys are good kissers, the bad ...not so much ;)

    Thanks for uploading!

  • thanks for putting this up, i just finished reading the book and it was great to see it as a movie too.

  • I am so impressed with this film! I started out detesting the heroine and her son, and once I saw the amazingly realistic story of a woman stuck with a drunk, I felt it all on a deep level. I wish Anne had written more.

  • @hollywoodartchick I truly think Ann was the most talented of the sisters. she just dies too early and was always sick. :) maybe that's why her stories are always dark as shit.

  • @msh2093 I think they're all equally talented, but Anne is the most realistic :)

  • thank you so much miti155. wonderful series

  • magnificent
