Wonder what the film studios would have to say to 96% of the other Youtube users who are uploading copyrighted material by your preachy logic? Or is it just me who was lucky enough to capture your attention?

nop I dont think a movie would be enough because if not filmed by a good director the movie would turn to be awful so thats why I vote that they do a tv series of the book that way its longer and they do everything by the book and they add more and that I dont want the luxe novels to end
:( it woud be like gossip girl oh and I loved the vid good job!!!!!!!!!!!
as much as i agree...do u know how expensive it is to do a period film? let alone a tv series...one dress alone is thousands of dollars then renting out locations and paying actors and renting entire streets so they can be closed down so that no cars or people dressed in modern day wear sneak into the shots etc....its wwaaaay to costly they would never do it... but it would be great if they did
I've never seen a trailer this good. I'd like to know where you got the clips from... And I agree with the last comment, The Luxe is miles ahead of Gemma Doyle and Twilight. Wonderful job on creating a vid that represents the series so well.
Creator of this video: I shudder to think that you would compare the likes of Twilight and Gemma Doyle to something as amazing as the Luxe series. I just finished reading Splendor, and I don't know if I've ever read a better series
What movie is that blond from? Because even though there isnt a Luxe movie I'd love to see whatever movie is actually feature in this video??? Anyone know???
honestly.. the song does not fit the series at all, and i personally think the casting is awful. sorry, i dont mean to be rude, just stating my opinon.
is this a complete girl book or historical fiction? cause i wanna read some teen historical fiction and when i asked the girl at barnes and nobel sae said that this series is good historical fiction, but the covers are girly? can i get any help. thanks :)
No. They're not 'girly.' Any historical fiction romance is going to have an element of femininity in it and that's what the book essentially is - a historical fiction romance. By 'girly' if you mean insipid and Harlequin, than no. It has a historical Victorian backdrop but there are no major historical events taking place. It mainly focuses on the intersecting lives of 5 Manhattan teenagers, their loves, sorrows, jealousies, betrayals, etc. Try one. Dont read the others if u dont like it.
@bookdude39 i think from the moment you read the prologue, you will fall in love. that's what happened to me.. i read the first one in about a week. and it was completely random that i ended up reading it too. i needed a book for my english isu and i saw it at the bookstore, and had seen it before and i really wanted to read it, so i bought it... without even knowing if i would really like it or not. and i'm so glad i bought it because it's the best book series ever!
i really <3 the luxe series - i'm reading Rumours now... my favourite character is Penelope. Excellent video, I think all the characters and the general storyline were portrayed very well. Good job!
i don't like penelope very much. she can be funny but i am a henry/diana person so i dislike penelope. in rumours i started to like Lina a bit more then in the luxe but she ruined everything for diana even though diana didn't spoil Lina's fun. oh well.
Oh my gosh what a wonderful video =). I just made 3 videos about the Luxe series and I must say we've had the same idea for Diana =) - but I've taken Justine from Tess of the D'Urbervilles & Great Expectations not from Wives & Daughters ;) -. And I must confess yeah it's very difficult to find the perfect actors ;). But I REALLY enjoy your cast ! Great work !
oh i love these books!!!!! i just got finished reading envy and it is amazing!!!!! i really hope they make a movie out of this series!!! (great video by the way :))
omg i love the luxe series and the great and terrible beauty series! yaay envy is outtt! gotta read it and find out o\how diana is going to get back at evil penelope!
I didn't watch the video until today - when I read, and promptly finished, the book - but the fact that you had this up made me check it out in the first place. It was fantastic, and your video was just as good!
That's so good to hear! I'm glad you enjoyed it :). I've posted a bunch of new stuff on both my accounts recently - plenty more tributes for my favorite books and films, with two more projects currently in the works.
I'm glad to hear these books are in the same league as the Gemma Doyle trilogy :) I picked it up at Walmart because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 1890's era after reading A Great and Terrible Beauty, I'm not very far and unfortunately I had to stop reading it for a while to read a book for my book report. :(
Everyone who lives elsewhere is so lucky! i've only just finished The Luxe since it came out in February 2008 (for me, anyway) and now everyone is talking about the sequel...blimey i'm missinformed...
I liked your video very much. it was very easy to follow and i think you presented the characters really well!
what the heck.... i read this book. but is this sposed to be the luxe or rumors? cause i dnt know who all the characters are in it. like a cant match them up. and are they making a movie or something?
Uhh..no. If you read the video information you would plainly see that I stated the names of the films I used, which would imply that they are pre-existing and this video is a fanmade endeavor.
By the title, you should see that its based on "The Luxe", whereas there are other fanvids for "Rumors"
I also included a cast list in the VI matching the characters along with the actors. The plot of the video also doesn't always match up to every specific scene in the book.
I just read this book, after buying it from Barnes and Noble last Sunday. It's actually quite good (as is your video, naturally), but it's somewhat disappointing to me how short it was, in reality. On the other hand, the double spaces made it easier on the eyes. I'll probably save my money by renting the sequel from the library.
gahh cool vid. i read the luxe a while ago and was waiting for rumors to come out. i just got rumors and read half of it today. gack i need to finish it!!!1
*Sigh* I've made over 20 videos between my two accounts and people STILL neglect to understand the concept of Creative License. It gets really, really tiresome.
Just because I honestly have no idea(I've never read the books before, but now I want to, because of your video), what time period are the books set in?
Now I'm regretting buying The Last Legion, when I could've bought this book...I had it in my hand, wondering if I should get it, and I put it back! Damn...
Well... the good news, is, you can still buy it! That's very flattering to know and thank you. The time period is set in 1899 Manhatten(probably more similar in period dress to the video I made for the sequel (Rumors)
You might have gotten the wrong impression of me by my comment. I do lots of book videos and invoke a lot of creative license because I use different films to represent the books. And I just get really irritated when I get pp who are so quick to point out "you're wrong."
Oh, I know. -nods- Don't worry, I didn't get the wrong impression at all, I've watched all your videos, I think. I was just curious, because for some reason, I thought it'd be more of a modern setting, like Gossip Girl or something. I don't know why I thought that.
They're advertising it as kind of a Victorian/Edwardian gossip girl so you're not too far off the mark! Personally I've never read the GG series so I can't draw parellels but I actually think it's a really good story and it's a shame they lump it in with those modern series because people who can't stand campy chic-lit might be turned off. I'm glad you're interested in reading it - I think you'll enjoy it, especially if you've read the AGATB series.
-nods- Read AGATB and loved it, although I do love what I've read of Gossip Girl as well. But I mostly dislike modern stories, I'm more of a period sort of girl, so this'll probably be right up my alley. Pretty funny, I tried getting my mother into AGATB, she wanted something to read, and she didn't even finish two pages.Got her to buy Twilight, she can't put it down.-rolls eyes-Give her a modern book, she's happy.Only other book she's read is Beaches, when she was about to have me,21 years ago!xP
I'm more of a period girl myself. I've given up on trying to share books with my mom - we both love to read & that's where the similarities end. She hated history in school so anything "period" turns her off right away. But she devours Jody Picoult (as a serious author) & a lot of lighthearted comedy/romance boooks (not Harlequin stuff, though). For my dad, it's James Patterson all the way but he forgets the plot as soon as he reads them, so then I read them on long car-rides to catch him up.
Never read James Patterson, never been much for mystery or crime, unless you count TV shows, and Midsomer Murders. Jodi Picoult I've never read, my cousin and I used to read Harlequin books and skip to the 'good parts' when we were about nine(she's about four years older than me). I hated most history, like American history. Anything ancient, Tudor era, or Marie Antoinette era, I LOVED.
I didn't like the summary either. It made the book seem so trite and cliche and really didn't do it nearly enough justice. Which is a shame because the book is AWESOME. I highly recommend it. It's actually a very good story.
Yay! Great video! The Luxe is a very book...I too read it just recently. I think Sophia Myles is perfect for Elizabeth, and I liked the casting for Henry! 5/5!
Thanks! :D It's funny... I was particularly captivated by Rosamund Pike. Even though she plays a small role in this vid, Rosamund had such a perfect, haughty look and with that red dress and those slitty eyes. It just screamed - Penelope! (despite the fact that she's a blonde...lol.)
