  • sorry if i spoiled it lmao but its going to break ur heart into pieces

  • Haha uuhhh the Luxe series is WAAAAAY better than the Twilight books... jusss sayin.

  • Oh my goodness, this actually sort of looks like the real thing! LOL Good job :)

  • I LOVE THESE SERIES IM OBESSESED IM READING THE LAST BOOK AND IM GONNA CRY BECAUSE HENRY AND DIANA DONT GET TO BE TOGETHER I LOVE HENRY SEXY GUY I WISH THERE WAS ANOTHER BOOK.

  • @crazygirls705 spoiler much!!

  • omg this is exactly like the luxe!! it's amazing.

  • LOVE THIS SERIES!!! :D

  • yea it was great until anna fucked it up with splendor

  • Wonder what the film studios would have to say to 96% of the other Youtube users who are uploading copyrighted material by your preachy logic? Or is it just me who was lucky enough to capture your attention?

  • creepy 3:26 loosks like a breast

  • i think the books better it has so much detail i mean they tell ous about looks hair dresses u now and the room and that but in movies the characters are talking and u never really take time to say hey i rember that red dress penolope wore at this ball and stuff lol xx yay finally got spledour but i have to finsh twillight 1st iam like so slow at readign any tips on how to be fast with out skippin wrods and stuff xoxox

  • read read read! You'll get faster, trust me.

  • but see the thign is i wonder off well my mind dose and then i have to read it over again and soemthimes it gets boring twilight xoxox

  • Yeah, i didn't like Twilight. And my mind wanders too. But if it's an interesting enough book I stay concentrated

  • nop I dont think a movie would be enough because if not filmed by a good director the movie would turn to be awful so thats why I vote that they do a tv series of the book that way its longer and they do everything by the book and they add more and that I dont want the luxe novels to end

:( it woud be like gossip girl oh and I loved the vid good job!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha... I think so too. Hollywood has a way of messing up book to movie adaptations.

  • what about twlight did they mess that up ?

  • yes they did lol a lot of things in that movie are out of order from the book

  • as much as i agree...do u know how expensive it is to do a period film? let alone a tv series...one dress alone is thousands of dollars then renting out locations and paying actors and renting entire streets so they can be closed down so that no cars or people dressed in modern day wear sneak into the shots etc....its wwaaaay to costly they would never do it... but it would be great if they did

  • This is absolutely brilliant!

I've never seen a trailer this good. I'd like to know where you got the clips from... And I agree with the last comment, The Luxe is miles ahead of Gemma Doyle and Twilight. Wonderful job on creating a vid that represents the series so well.

  • Creator of this video: I shudder to think that you would compare the likes of Twilight and Gemma Doyle to something as amazing as the Luxe series. I just finished reading Splendor, and I don't know if I've ever read a better series

  • agreed

  • woah this is awesome!

  • AHH. Sophia Myles!! Perfect Elizabeth :)

Good job. I really like your Diana too.

Andd, what movies are these clips from?

  • this is really like the book it like really fits!!!

  • What movie is that blond from? Because even though there isnt a Luxe movie I'd love to see whatever movie is actually feature in this video??? Anyone know???

  • I loved to read the book, very very good. and the video too :)

    I recommend

  • so well done :) Also super well casted :D

  • fav book EVER!!! :)

  • Isn't there suppose to be a movie coming out though?

  • there better be!!! :)

  • when did the movie come out

  • there isnt a movie

  • then where did they get these seens from?

  • honestly.. the song does not fit the series at all, and i personally think the casting is awful. sorry, i dont mean to be rude, just stating my opinon.

  • is this a complete girl book or historical fiction? cause i wanna read some teen historical fiction and when i asked the girl at barnes and nobel sae said that this series is good historical fiction, but the covers are girly? can i get any help. thanks :)

  • definitley girly

  • No. They're not 'girly.' Any historical fiction romance is going to have an element of femininity in it and that's what the book essentially is - a historical fiction romance. By 'girly' if you mean insipid and Harlequin, than no. It has a historical Victorian backdrop but there are no major historical events taking place. It mainly focuses on the intersecting lives of 5 Manhattan teenagers, their loves, sorrows, jealousies, betrayals, etc. Try one. Dont read the others if u dont like it.

  • thanks...think i might go get the first one

  • @bookdude39 i think from the moment you read the prologue, you will fall in love. that's what happened to me.. i read the first one in about a week. and it was completely random that i ended up reading it too. i needed a book for my english isu and i saw it at the bookstore, and had seen it before and i really wanted to read it, so i bought it... without even knowing if i would really like it or not. and i'm so glad i bought it because it's the best book series ever!

  • who are the people in the last scene?

  • oh...i wish there is going to be a movie...

i just finished envy...can't wait till splendour comes out!!!

  • Diana's my fave character :)

I quite like Penelope, because she's such a bitch, but i HATE Lina.

  • diana?

WHAT!? ugghhh. i only like elizabeth. haha.

  • I don't like Elizabeth much, she's too boring. lol.

  • Wow. I just bought this book and now I think I'm going to go read it! haha

  • hah lol 'society dreamboat Henry Schoonmaker'

    that seems about right =]

  • Henry & Di..

    I love them (:

  • i lubb diana she'sz my favoritee characterr. :D

i though henry was a douche at first, but then he'sz kindaa a romantic so..

    penelope is a bitch. periodddd.

  • can someone tell me who sings this song. i love it.

  • Henry and Diana <3

    Enough said :)

  • is the luxe a movie yet?

  • nope not yet I hope it is a movie tough :P

  • just finished Envy.

BLEW ME RIGHT OUT THE APARTMENT WINDOW.

Anna, why make Splendor come out all the way in October ?

  • grrr i wish splendor came out sooner!!!!!

  • read luxe, read rumours, both twice over, ordered envy and soon to order splendor!

  • im on rumors! i love diana and henry together!!

  • i really <3 the luxe series - i'm reading Rumours now... my favourite character is Penelope. Excellent video, I think all the characters and the general storyline were portrayed very well. Good job!

  • i don't like penelope very much. she can be funny but i am a henry/diana person so i dislike penelope. in rumours i started to like Lina a bit more then in the luxe but she ruined everything for diana even though diana didn't spoil Lina's fun. oh well.

  • wow, this was a great video! it's amazing that you found these film characters and they all fit so perfectly with the actual story. nice job! :)

  • great vid!! i read the whole series and it was awesome. i cant wait for splendor to come out!!

  • i pictured diana as the girl who plays ashley in the secret life of the american teenager

  • Oh my gosh what a wonderful video =). I just made 3 videos about the Luxe series and I must say we've had the same idea for Diana =) - but I've taken Justine from Tess of the D'Urbervilles & Great Expectations not from Wives & Daughters ;) -. And I must confess yeah it's very difficult to find the perfect actors ;). But I REALLY enjoy your cast ! Great work !

  • Awesome! i'm faving it! Have you read Ency yet? It was AMAZING!

  • come check out my luxe video in which it shows the relationship of diana and henry

  • oh i love these books!!!!! i just got finished reading envy and it is amazing!!!!! i really hope they make a movie out of this series!!! (great video by the way :))

  • omg i love the luxe series and the great and terrible beauty series! yaay envy is outtt! gotta read it and find out o\how diana is going to get back at evil penelope!

  • thx now you spoiled -.-

  • not necessarily you don't know what she did, if she actually did anything

  • i love justine waddell and i love diana so thanks for using her!

  • I didn't watch the video until today - when I read, and promptly finished, the book - but the fact that you had this up made me check it out in the first place. It was fantastic, and your video was just as good!

  • That's so good to hear! I'm glad you enjoyed it :). I've posted a bunch of new stuff on both my accounts recently - plenty more tributes for my favorite books and films, with two more projects currently in the works.

  • Rumours is the best book in the series. I cannot wait until Envy comes out this month!!

  • I'm glad to hear these books are in the same league as the Gemma Doyle trilogy :) I picked it up at Walmart because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 1890's era after reading A Great and Terrible Beauty, I'm not very far and unfortunately I had to stop reading it for a while to read a book for my book report. :(

  • yh. im just about to read rumors and the luxe is amazing! apparently rumors is quite depressin though :S

they really should make a film of the books.

  • i love this book and i am about to read rumours!

  • are they going to make a movie out of the novels?

  • Everyone who lives elsewhere is so lucky! i've only just finished The Luxe since it came out in February 2008 (for me, anyway) and now everyone is talking about the sequel...blimey i'm missinformed...

I liked your video very much. it was very easy to follow and i think you presented the characters really well!

  • what the heck.... i read this book. but is this sposed to be the luxe or rumors? cause i dnt know who all the characters are in it. like a cant match them up. and are they making a movie or something?

  • Uhh..no. If you read the video information you would plainly see that I stated the names of the films I used, which would imply that they are pre-existing and this video is a fanmade endeavor.

By the title, you should see that its based on "The Luxe", whereas there are other fanvids for "Rumors"

I also included a cast list in the VI matching the characters along with the actors. The plot of the video also doesn't always match up to every specific scene in the book.

  • I just read this book, after buying it from Barnes and Noble last Sunday. It's actually quite good (as is your video, naturally), but it's somewhat disappointing to me how short it was, in reality. On the other hand, the double spaces made it easier on the eyes. I'll probably save my money by renting the sequel from the library.

  • This is a great video, and the books are amazing. However, does anyone else hate the ending of Rumors?

  • YES.

My Henry, Penelope and Diana video is an attempt to express how much I indescribably now hate Penelope Hayes.

  • that's sophia miles right? what movie is that?

  • oh, sorry. never mind. Its dracula.

  • what does AGATB stand for?

  • A Great and Terrible Beauty

  • gahh cool vid. i read the luxe a while ago and was waiting for rumors to come out. i just got rumors and read half of it today. gack i need to finish it!!!1

  • it's so sad what happens in Rumors.

    i was like... :0

  • again, another great video from gemini! *sigh* i am so jealous. I wish I could make vids this good.

  • ITs good but the time period is wrong.

  • *Sigh* I've made over 20 videos between my two accounts and people STILL neglect to understand the concept of Creative License. It gets really, really tiresome.

  • Just because I honestly have no idea(I've never read the books before, but now I want to, because of your video), what time period are the books set in?

Now I'm regretting buying The Last Legion, when I could've bought this book...I had it in my hand, wondering if I should get it, and I put it back! Damn...

  • Well... the good news, is, you can still buy it! That's very flattering to know and thank you. The time period is set in 1899 Manhatten(probably more similar in period dress to the video I made for the sequel (Rumors)

You might have gotten the wrong impression of me by my comment. I do lots of book videos and invoke a lot of creative license because I use different films to represent the books. And I just get really irritated when I get pp who are so quick to point out "you're wrong."

  • Oh, I know. -nods- Don't worry, I didn't get the wrong impression at all, I've watched all your videos, I think. I was just curious, because for some reason, I thought it'd be more of a modern setting, like Gossip Girl or something. I don't know why I thought that.

  • They're advertising it as kind of a Victorian/Edwardian gossip girl so you're not too far off the mark! Personally I've never read the GG series so I can't draw parellels but I actually think it's a really good story and it's a shame they lump it in with those modern series because people who can't stand campy chic-lit might be turned off. I'm glad you're interested in reading it - I think you'll enjoy it, especially if you've read the AGATB series.

  • -nods- Read AGATB and loved it, although I do love what I've read of Gossip Girl as well. But I mostly dislike modern stories, I'm more of a period sort of girl, so this'll probably be right up my alley. Pretty funny, I tried getting my mother into AGATB, she wanted something to read, and she didn't even finish two pages.Got her to buy Twilight, she can't put it down.-rolls eyes-Give her a modern book, she's happy.Only other book she's read is Beaches, when she was about to have me,21 years ago!xP

  • I'm more of a period girl myself. I've given up on trying to share books with my mom - we both love to read & that's where the similarities end. She hated history in school so anything "period" turns her off right away. But she devours Jody Picoult (as a serious author) & a lot of lighthearted comedy/romance boooks (not Harlequin stuff, though). For my dad, it's James Patterson all the way but he forgets the plot as soon as he reads them, so then I read them on long car-rides to catch him up.

  • Never read James Patterson, never been much for mystery or crime, unless you count TV shows, and Midsomer Murders. Jodi Picoult I've never read, my cousin and I used to read Harlequin books and skip to the 'good parts' when we were about nine(she's about four years older than me). I hated most history, like American history. Anything ancient, Tudor era, or Marie Antoinette era, I LOVED.

  • I loved the video. It resembled the book perfectly! I never knew there was a second book coming out. Anybody know the title of it..? -tilts-

    -Emily

  • It's called Rumors, and it's coming out June 3rd.

    Can't wait!!

  • when is the next luxe book coming out!!!! I read it and i loved it!!! plz tell me!

  • Hey, I love the video! Totally brilliant. Gorgeous. Do you know when the next book comes out?

  • Rumors. Sometime in June, apparently.

  • Really? YAY! I may have to investcate. Thanks

  • i love this video--you did a great job. and the book was freakin amazing!! what movie did you get these clips from??

  • They're mentioned in my video information.

  • This video is great , now i'm really looking forward to reading the book !!, great job , ,love the video =D

  • Mhmm, interesting video. I've seen the book at the bookstore, and thought of buying it but I didn't. The summary was so confusing. xD Faail.

But after reading yours, I'm thinking I will buy it. I just hope the next books come out fast... I hate waiting. D:

  • I didn't like the summary either. It made the book seem so trite and cliche and really didn't do it nearly enough justice. Which is a shame because the book is AWESOME. I highly recommend it. It's actually a very good story.

  • it weird we seem to like the same books, cuz im in the middle of of reading The Luxe and im like OBSESSED with the Gemma Doyle Trilogy!

  • You should read it. It's a great book.

  • this was really good:)

  • Thanks :)

  • Yay! Great video! The Luxe is a very book...I too read it just recently. I think Sophia Myles is perfect for Elizabeth, and I liked the casting for Henry! 5/5!

    ~Midnightsun22794~

  • Thanks! :D It's funny... I was particularly captivated by Rosamund Pike. Even though she plays a small role in this vid, Rosamund had such a perfect, haughty look and with that red dress and those slitty eyes. It just screamed - Penelope! (despite the fact that she's a blonde...lol.)
