see Comment 3 months ago: The demo corresponds to Part 2 of this video. In the first video the rotation is +/- 90 degrees. If turned more it is not correct. I wanted a complete rotation but could not get two axis correctly. If someone has equations for the 2-axis turn, I'll fix it. The ones on the Wiili and Wiibrew are not correct.
On it's own the wiimote connecting to the iPhone has no great application. When you can hold an iPhone in your hand. But think about attaching your iPhone to your telly via Apple's video cables. NOW does a Wiimote make sense? As I said this is just a proof of concept. It proves it's possible to control an iPhone with a wiimote.
have a look at my "iPhone Car Racing with Bluetooth Zeemote Joystick". There, I "only" had to patch the accelerometer for the steering and simulate touches to use gas and breaks.
Wow. Just because of this, I'm going to get a Mac so I can hack and compile code for this. I've been interested in Bluetooth on the iPhone for a long time, but no one ever could make a good enough Bluetooth stack. But this looks like GREAT code. Wouldn't it be amazing if you could use your device AS a Wiimote? (minus the IR, of course)
Hm. That would be awesome to try and implement something of the sort, but maybe the iPhone could connect to the Wiimote (for the IR) AND the Wii? Even though that's probably not possible... :P
weird. I downloaded the demo, and the app only shows activity in one direction ("rolling" the wiimote)... is this a temporary bug because of a SVN change, or does it have something to do with the fact that I live in Europe (although I doubt Nintendo would change the way acceleration is handled based on /regions/)
Nope. The demo corresponds to Part 2 of this video. In the first video the rotation is +/- 90 degrees. If turned more it is not correct. I wanted a complete rotation but could not get two axis correctly. If someone has equations for the 2-axis turn, I'll fix it. The ones on the Wiili and Wiibrew are not correct.
Wow, that's pretty cool that you were able to get that working. Does your project allow the 2G to use the peer to peer protocols that the 3G and 3GS have? Also is stereo audio over bluetooth possible to implement? That's one of the things I'm looking for a mod to do so i dont have to buy a new phone.
Didn't know peer-to-peer is not supported on 2G :( Apple's Peer-to-peer uses standard PAN/BNEP protocols that can be implemented, but uses a special "pairing" sequence. I don't now if it is complicated (as in "using real crypto"). Similar, stereo audio over bluetooth should be possible too, but one would have to integrate it with the system. We'll see. :)
we need ps3 controller on iphone to paly games!! someone make a bluetooth driver the guys who been making the control pad for it!!! It would be lot easier tahn build that thing that plugs into the port. Please someone XD!! That would be the perfect solution
nokia phones can do this too. But I wish it was a ps3 controller instead.. ps3 controller just has a better layout (and more buttons), plus, it has an accelerometer.
not sure what you mean by jacking, but I think it's cool they can do this with the Wiimote. but I'm saying it would be even better if you could use a ps3 contoller (I mean come on.. it's shaped as a gaming controller, the Wii controller doesn't have as many buttons.)
my ps3 has lived through 3 of my xbox 360's deaths, and it's still running great. We keep them next to eachother, with lots of ventilation
I've been playing with the Wiimote on my Nokia n82, I like it so far..
same but my xbox only cost £30 and its been living for 3 years because my friend never played it after he bought it he played it for a while and gave up XD ps3 awsem xbox is to if it didnt have a RROD i hate that why did they make that RROD i hope in 2012 they fix it
I'm not too interested in the Wiimote's accelerometer being used on the iPhone. I would love to use the Wiimote as a controller for gpSPhone. It would be so much easier than pressing the buttons on screen.
is it possible with the BTstack project, to send or control something with the iphone? for example a robot with a bluetooth connection, and send orders from the iPhone to move?
Sure. Right now the robot needs support for the basic L2CAP protocol. Most hobbyist use a ready to use Bluetooth Serial-to-Bluetooth module which uses the RFCOMM which is not implemented yet. But this will come, too.
Maybe. :O) The underlying Bluetooth Stack needs to be ready for general use first. It won't be much work then. If you're really interested in this demo, ping me after BTstack has been released on Cydia (when? don't know :).
Between fake and Cydia, there is a huge space. Simply put you make a video when you have something you would like show but it's not finished. Here, e.g., the MAC-address of the WiiMote is hard-code, a nice GUI would be needed. Anyway, the command-line version of this is the SVN repository of the BTstack project. And btw. you wouldn't want this demo when you could play games on the iPhone... ':)
more than this the iphone is in "plane mode" wich means it has all the radios OFF!!!! how could it connect the wiimote via BT if there is NO BT ICON!? :D
Can you share your source? I'd love to build on this!

I'd like to interface the Wiimote to an avr using a BTM-222 chip, do you think it's doable?
mog123noblog 1 year ago
@mog123noblog sorry that"s not possible. BTM-222 uses RFCOMM, WiiMote requires an L2CAP connection to implement HID profile.
mringwal 1 year ago
SO, do you any solution to interface a WiiMote or a PS3 controller to a ATmega?

I can only tilt the virtual Wiimote side to side and not up and down like in the video, Mattias.

The demo only uses the accelerometer of the WiiMote, independent of an attached secondary controller.
