LOL MAN you are ripping It up was that In 1991 tour\,,/ LET THE METAL FLOW.In the Memory off CHUCK S R.I P.Sean you were In your 20.s then right man thanks bro
I remember back in the early 90's when I first heard that acceleration in the solo part, I was fucking stunned! Had to listen to it over and over again to actually realize that someone could do that on bass drums. He was way ahead of his time in metal drumming and is definitely one of the forefathers to extreme metal drumming of today.
@shutdownimminent that's true, Chuck was always a head of his time, and he always used brilliant musicians for his albums. I also I can't remember anyone else metal drummer in the 90s using splash cymbals !
If I'm not mistaken, Raymon Herrera of Fear Factory was one of the first to actually use triggers on an acoustic drum set in the mid or late nineties. Therefore I'm awed by classic extreme metal drummers like Reinert or Dave Lombardo who played that stuff without decrease in volume, which is TOUGH
I played drums for a few years before switching to guitar in my teens and videos like this make me consider going back to it as a hobby. Its weird though trying to get good at things you have no intention of ever using.
Sean isn't using triggers here. His kicks are getting enough elevation at the knee to prove he is hitting hard. Most trigger users that go for sheer speed heel/toe or swivel foot and get little elevation. The point of triggers are to create even sound regardless of pressure.
Either he's a god at tuning 2 bass drums (which I'd believe) or he's just triggering his kicks, which is not a bad thing, why do people always react super negatively when they even hear the word "triggers"??
@doctorrockter definitely thats why they sound so clean triggers do NOT do the work for you. contrary to the belief created by stupid hardcore kids triggers are a recording and sound device not a way to cheat on double bass. listen to decapitated that guy uses triggers all day i promise you he didn't cheat
sean gets NOOOO credit what so ever! Brann Dailor gets heaps of it...dont get me wrong like his style but cmon....lets be real.....ill be real if your real.
Mother of God, Sean is amazing. Not only can he be a god with Prog. Metal drumming, he can dish out blast beats and play the shit out of Death Metal. Reinert >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Portnoy and Peart.
very happy to see these videos... this record and drummer made some of us take the time to better our craft by learning jazz and other techniques. seeing these now i can understand what is going on fine - but this record was the spark for such insights
@borizh I know I thought the exact same thing! I listened to this song like 30ish times and it sounds pretty simple but when you actually see him playing the song it is way, way, way more complex than what I've been able to decipher on the album. He's always alternating cymbals and doing all these awesome fills.
Insane fucking drums, don't know who to choose from: Reinert, Hoglan, or Christy. Each are extremely progressive and technical, but bring their own unique sound to Death. Great vid.
@sewerdevil12 I found Hoglan boring after a while, he keeps to boring rythmic patterns, Sean and richard are definetly so much more creative, just more interesting.
the ease at which reinert plays these parts astounds me. the fluidity that his wrists allow him is something i strive for whenever i see him play. underrated and quite possibly the greatest drummer, at least in heavy metal, of all time.
@yeatsg Nail on the head. I've never seen anyone play so fast and so relaxed. He quite honestly looks bored. Even though he is playing a ton of stuff not on the album he looks like he could be playing it twice as fast if he wanted too. He knows precisely how many beats/cymbals he can add and not affect the timing of the rest of the band. Simply amazing.
if sean reinert started playing the drums when he was 10 years old, on this vid he's 20.... this means he was doing all of these impressive rhytmics after just 10 years of drumming! and he did focus with cynic after 12 years! HAIL SEAN REINERT, KING OF KINGS OF DRUMMERS!!!
If I had the choice to go on with my life, without the possibility of ever being able to time travel and live until I turn old and die, with all the money I could ever use, and women, and cars and shit, or go back in time, see this entire show, and die by getting anally raped by a black man with a 8 inch wide cock (yeah 8 inch), being scalped, shot in my knee caps, hit by a car, lit on fire, and then miraculously stay alive for another 2 days in the middle of a desert , dying, I would choose #2.
Motherfucker - there's only maybe 3drummers in the world that can play that even on the bass brums in that speed - and NO one can do it so complex - there will be many years before such a jazz-metal drummer emerges. I still find it strange that they weren't better in Stockholm on the Human tour - they were good and I'll never forget seeing Chuck gig - but they weren't that fucking good.
perra madre mtf awesome my favorite band DEATH 4 ever, i like dave lombardo ,igor cavalera , gene hoglan, but my opinion nobody like SEAN is the best drummer i seen
What i love about Sean's drumming style is his creativity and variety. Gene Hoglan is great too....but his style is totally different from Sean's. Gene's style is more straightforward and predictable. Dave Lombardo, Paul Bostaph, Charlie Benante, Mikkey Dee and Igor Cavalera are all great 80's Metal drummers as well.

Death '93 Full of Hate Easterfestival! Sean sits Backstage wile Gene Hoglan was playing the Drums! :-( But I saw him playing with Cynic '94 or '95 at the Dynamo Open Air! Awesom! I love the new one > Traced in Air
I don't like Rap! I only can say what happend at that evening! Don't take it to serious if I say something against Gene! In fact I like what he has done w DarkAngel/Death/SYL!
OH YEAH! Who are you SeanSitka are you Sean Reinert? I don't know how you got this but thank you so much for posting it! Love the speed + fusion combo... and yes, look what you can accomplish with practice & discipline -- no triggers / sequencing needed!
@bachyutt Lars Ulrich, while he may not be the 'best' drummer in the world, if such a thing can even exist, his work with Metallica has undoubtedly helped pave the way for countless aspiring metal-headed drummers from the past and present. I don't understand why so many people compare him to others and rag on him. People act like he's the only drummer in the world with a big ego.. Having said that, I believe Sean Reinert to definitely be more skilled and personally like his playing more.
@bachyutt saean Reinert is faaar more complete and technical, but i don't think Lars sucks,well...he didn't.nowadays sometimes(too many a couple of years ago).
Absolute precision, creativity, and technique... Sean was way ahead for it's time in death metal... this album is one of the reasons why I started playing drums 15 years ago...
