  • What is the fucking problem with triggers? Who gives a fuck. Music isn't a competition.

  • Sean Reinert is the fucking man!!! Human's the heaviest fucking Death album ever!

  • LOL MAN you are ripping It up was that In 1991 tour\,,/ LET THE METAL FLOW.In the Memory off CHUCK S R.I P.Sean you were In your 20.s then right man thanks bro

  • Can't believe this is 20 years old.

  • I remember back in the early 90's when I first heard that acceleration in the solo part, I was fucking stunned! Had to listen to it over and over again to actually realize that someone could do that on bass drums. He was way ahead of his time in metal drumming and is definitely one of the forefathers to extreme metal drumming of today.

  • @shutdownimminent that's true, Chuck was always a head of his time, and he always used brilliant musicians for his albums. I also I can't remember anyone else metal drummer in the 90s using splash cymbals !

  • @MikeStann How 'bout Herb Alexander? (If Primus can be called metal...)

  • He's a fucken god!!!!!!!! Everyone in this band was a fucken god!!!!

  • How the hell is this even possible?

  • amazing

  • He is so amazing.

  • If I'm not mistaken, Raymon Herrera of Fear Factory was one of the first to actually use triggers on an acoustic drum set in the mid or late nineties. Therefore I'm awed by classic extreme metal drummers like Reinert or Dave Lombardo who played that stuff without decrease in volume, which is TOUGH

  • Sean shows how it's done!

  • Sean Reinert, my favourite Death drummer, by far!

  • WOW!!

  • I played drums for a few years before switching to guitar in my teens and videos like this make me consider going back to it as a hobby. Its weird though trying to get good at things you have no intention of ever using.

Sean isn't using triggers here. His kicks are getting enough elevation at the knee to prove he is hitting hard. Most trigger users that go for sheer speed heel/toe or swivel foot and get little elevation. The point of triggers are to create even sound regardless of pressure.

  • THE MAN!

  • Either he's a god at tuning 2 bass drums (which I'd believe) or he's just triggering his kicks, which is not a bad thing, why do people always react super negatively when they even hear the word "triggers"??

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls Not reacting negatively, but I am almost positive that in 91 no one was using triggers.

  • @falconer6439 Wtf, I'm embarrassed by my comment, definitely deleting that. Doesn't even sound like something I'd say.

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls misconception created by ignorant people

  • I cant even imagine to air drum this

  • The roll with the feet at 2:50 is amazing...

  • SEAN REINERT TOTALLY RULES!!! I DONT THINK ANYONE ELSE MADE A SONOR DRUM KIT TALK THAT TOUGH EVER..BEFORE OR SINCE!!

  • my superheroe for almost 17 years.....

  • i bet his legs ached after that!

  • his style is so fucking sick

  • Jesus.........

  • and they say Tomas Hakke is a good drummer.

  • EPIC

  • Was this October or November '91? Description says November 26, 1991, but video name says 10.26.91. (10=October)

  • @TrollMead it's October then, thanks for pointing that out for me.

  • @SeanSitka No problem.

  • This isn't Richard Christy?

  • @drummergaryskipper

    yes...he is!!

  • @kmboyano ..Ok,sorry..I just thought that everyone was thinking he was Sean Reinert..I think their both INCREDIBLE drummers.

  • He moves like... a serpent.

  • too cool man. what a great drummer. maybe if i practice every day i might learn how to hold my drumsticks like Sean!

  • God, I wish I was at this show. This makes me so happy.

  • who knows which kind of drumkit did he use?

  • @siphid he has the whole Human set up on his facebook. look for the pictures.

  • Best drummer ever

  • i can't even air drum this good

  • does he use triggers?

  • @doctorrockter i dnt think they had live triggers in 1991it just sounds like a tight bass drum

  • @doctorrockter : no way!~

  • @doctorrockter Absolutley not. Full bass drum sound

  • @doctorrockter Im pretty sure there werent even triggers in 91. At least none that were accessible to the average drummer.

  • @doctorrockter definitely thats why they sound so clean triggers do NOT do the work for you. contrary to the belief created by stupid hardcore kids triggers are a recording and sound device not a way to cheat on double bass. listen to decapitated that guy uses triggers all day i promise you he didn't cheat

  • @babykkkyle He isn't using triggers though.

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls then he's even more amazing than i thought to get that kinda smooth sound my bad im a guitarist not a drumeer lol

  • Legend. /discussion.

  • Man, that's violent poetry in motion.

  • @SpiritualFraud Nice way to frame it

  • sean gets NOOOO credit what so ever! Brann Dailor gets heaps of it...dont get me wrong like his style but cmon....lets be real.....ill be real if your real.

  • human is such a ridiously awesome album

  • Ohshi, he rolls on his bass drum the same way I do.

And everyone keeps telling me using heels down with less power gives you more control, now I say to them, eat my ass.

  • Ohshi, he rolls on his bass drum the same way I do.

And everyone keeps telling me using heels down with less power gives you more control, now I say to them, eat my ass.

  • it sounds like hes doing it with the intro with one foot in the cd

  • Reinert tocaba muy lento en vivo, pero tenia gran tecnica, en el human se escucha la raja !

  • He's been the DEATH drummer per se.

  • Mother of God, Sean is amazing. Not only can he be a god with Prog. Metal drumming, he can dish out blast beats and play the shit out of Death Metal. Reinert >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Portnoy and Peart.

  • Its just not right without chuck. ;(

  • very happy to see these videos... this record and drummer made some of us take the time to better our craft by learning jazz and other techniques. seeing these now i can understand what is going on fine - but this record was the spark for such insights

  • great drummer with fantastic technic..Reinart the machine...yeaaaahhhhhh..\m/

  • His bass-drum pedals have to be ...throwing-up after each show.

Yes, that's right, puking drum pedals - this beast Reinert seems capable of it.

  • so so so so so so sick

  • I'm so happy these videos exist! Thanks so much for posting. I love the drums from this album in particular.

  • wow... you would think after years of closely listening to this album, you knew everything going on with the drums...

thanks for uploading! this shit is amazing

  • @borizh I know I thought the exact same thing! I listened to this song like 30ish times and it sounds pretty simple but when you actually see him playing the song it is way, way, way more complex than what I've been able to decipher on the album. He's always alternating cymbals and doing all these awesome fills.

  • Insane fucking drums, don't know who to choose from: Reinert, Hoglan, or Christy. Each are extremely progressive and technical, but bring their own unique sound to Death. Great vid.

  • @sewerdevil12 exactly duder.well said.

  • @sewerdevil12 I found Hoglan boring after a while, he keeps to boring rythmic patterns, Sean and richard are definetly so much more creative, just more interesting.

  • holy shit

  • ya im agree with u joedeshields...

  • Why Chuck didn't sing at the end?

  • wow unlike most death metal drummers these days sean is hitting that bass drum really fucking hard!

  • the ease at which reinert plays these parts astounds me. the fluidity that his wrists allow him is something i strive for whenever i see him play. underrated and quite possibly the greatest drummer, at least in heavy metal, of all time.

  • @yeatsg Nail on the head. I've never seen anyone play so fast and so relaxed. He quite honestly looks bored. Even though he is playing a ton of stuff not on the album he looks like he could be playing it twice as fast if he wanted too. He knows precisely how many beats/cymbals he can add and not affect the timing of the rest of the band. Simply amazing.

  • so good! how is this possible?

  • did you hear his kicks at 2:52, HOLY SHIT

  • shit this drummer is sick!

  • Remember SEAWEED with Sean?

  • this song is so brutal...

  • Simply fucking awesome!

  • Why the hell Chuck didn't sang the last chorus?

  • This show happened seven days after I was born. I missed out on alot of shows I would have loved to see.

  • if sean reinert started playing the drums when he was 10 years old, on this vid he's 20.... this means he was doing all of these impressive rhytmics after just 10 years of drumming! and he did focus with cynic after 12 years! HAIL SEAN REINERT, KING OF KINGS OF DRUMMERS!!!

  • Sweet, thanks for uploading this.

  • i can hear Chuck. CHUUUUUUCK.

    \m/ :_( \m/

  • simply amazing is a a dream this guy

  • Comment removed

  • @elegyrulz No, Christy wanted to look like Reinert, here's the difference!

  • If I had the choice to go on with my life, without the possibility of ever being able to time travel and live until I turn old and die, with all the money I could ever use, and women, and cars and shit, or go back in time, see this entire show, and die by getting anally raped by a black man with a 8 inch wide cock (yeah 8 inch), being scalped, shot in my knee caps, hit by a car, lit on fire, and then miraculously stay alive for another 2 days in the middle of a desert , dying, I would choose #2.

  • hahaha great answer!

    Sean is awesome!

  • hahahahahaha!

  • @joedeshields Fuck, man, You're true Death's fan

  • Motherfucker - there's only maybe 3drummers in the world that can play that even on the bass brums in that speed - and NO one can do it so complex - there will be many years before such a jazz-metal drummer emerges. I still find it strange that they weren't better in Stockholm on the Human tour - they were good and I'll never forget seeing Chuck gig - but they weren't that fucking good.

  • perra madre mtf awesome my favorite band DEATH 4 ever, i like dave lombardo ,igor cavalera , gene hoglan, but my opinion nobody like SEAN is the best drummer i seen

  • i heard he was good but i didn't realise how fuckin godly he is

  • What i love about Sean's drumming style is his creativity and variety. Gene Hoglan is great too....but his style is totally different from Sean's. Gene's style is more straightforward and predictable. Dave Lombardo, Paul Bostaph, Charlie Benante, Mikkey Dee and Igor Cavalera are all great 80's Metal drummers as well.

  • Sean and Gene, are the best, the rest can go home... with all due respect :)

  • He speeds up on the pedal at 2:52 like on the album! Awesome drumming!

  • sean reinert, gene hoglan and richard christy play absolutely fantastic on all the albums and live. death really incorporated one of the best metal drummers..

  • i used to feel the same accutron but you have to realize that sean had been playing for at least 8 years by then and had gone to a special music school where he met paul.

  • Comment removed

  • fuck!!! i'm 20.. and nowhere near as good as this!

i suck.. im gonna go and cry now.. :(

  • I just love his style. Truly unique. What a great drummer and what a great album! R.I.P. Chuck!

  • Death '93 Full of Hate Easterfestival! Sean sits Backstage wile Gene Hoglan was playing the Drums! :-( But I saw him playing with Cynic '94 or '95 at the Dynamo Open Air! Awesom! I love the new one > Traced in Air

  • Hm, maybe he had a bad Day! I saw Gene only once live and that was at this Show: He fucked up every Human Song, sounded horrible!!!! Not realy funny!

  • dude your ears were fucked up

gene hoglan having a bad day is like finding good rap music... it's never gunna happen

  • ???

I don't like Rap! I only can say what happend at that evening! Don't take it to serious if I say something against Gene! In fact I like what he has done w DarkAngel/Death/SYL!

So Peace Bro and have a nice Day!

  • FYI: Secret Face is the most technical drum performance by either drummer (Within Death)

Gene is good, but only as a metal drummer.

Sean is much more creative and versatile. Plus he has sick independence skills as well, which he really shows off in his progressive projects.

  • only in metal, sure??

    i dont think that

  • Death has to be the most genuine band ever

  • lucky lucky bastardos were at this show! im jealous. are you?

  • OH YEAH! Who are you SeanSitka are you Sean Reinert? I don't know how you got this but thank you so much for posting it! Love the speed + fusion combo... and yes, look what you can accomplish with practice & discipline -- no triggers / sequencing needed!

  • Lars Ulrich is better!

Just kidding, he sucks. Sean Reinert is the best!!!!!

  • @bachyutt That guy from Def Leppard is even better!

  • @bachyutt Lars Ulrich, while he may not be the 'best' drummer in the world, if such a thing can even exist, his work with Metallica has undoubtedly helped pave the way for countless aspiring metal-headed drummers from the past and present. I don't understand why so many people compare him to others and rag on him. People act like he's the only drummer in the world with a big ego.. Having said that, I believe Sean Reinert to definitely be more skilled and personally like his playing more.

  • @bachyutt saean Reinert is faaar more complete and technical, but i don't think Lars sucks,well...he didn't.nowadays sometimes(too many a couple of years ago).

  • just want to go on record... and say that, Death were FUCKING amazing. Loved it all. And, SR... what can I say.. He#s demonic....

  • I like the fact that he doesn't use triggers on the bass drum! Sounds proper... raw, organic! great stuff!

  • fuck ... in this video Sean is just 20 ... he is a fucking animal ...

  • Chuck's vocals sound just like they do on the album, this is fucking amazing.

  • he was the most dedicated at what he did

  • one of the best!!!!

  • Absolute precision, creativity, and technique... Sean was way ahead for it's time in death metal... this album is one of the reasons why I started playing drums 15 years ago...

  • Holy shit! =D I love this song... I mean the whole album!! All of the Death's album are classic! And Sean Reinert one of my fav drummer ever!!!

    Thanks for sharing this...

  • So much control and precision. He never over plays either. The Human album and Cynic changed my life and my drumming. Thank you!!

  • my fav death song and drumming ever , ever.

  • My favorite drummer ever not to mention a great guy pulled me and my friend out of a cynic show to talk and get pics.

  • fuckkkkkkkkkk amazing ..no words

  • 17 years waiting to see sean doing the best drumming i know, fucking great...will play long time today

  • I was at this show, it kicked ass

  • Oh my god.. I'm coming! I waited for this clip for a long time.. Reinert that plays this incredible song! Thanks man!!

  • thank you very much man for sharing this!...from the heart!

  • Holy shit. Not only hearing but actally seeing Sean playing this is bloody awesome. I love this song.
