Republican tax cuts my ass. Every time the cost of living goes up so do our taxes. They would rather raise revenue on the backs of the middle class and poor rather than the people who can afford it and still maintain more than a reasonable standard of living. If you backed Palin you have a serious problem with judgement.
Of course there are, but nuke power is better than coal or oil and I heard that there was big business money in nuke power. It is stupid but the GOP is attracted by stupid.
Personally I love wind and solar. In Europe it is a problem to get the room to build these plants. In the US? You can get land for 10 cents the square mile.
No offense, dude, but Nuke is much too dangerous in terms of storage and dumping, not to mention terrorism.
I learned a lot from the great movie "Who Killed The Electric Car." The basic batterie technology increased exponentially when the car was an actual viable option... and died when the cars were killed by the Corps.
Pretty strange, isn't it. I guess it depends on which Conspiracies you believe.
I have a good friend that lives off of a couple of neato patents. He says that a buddy of his in physics in college many years ago developed a way to make photovoltaic cells in a big ol' pot.
Up until recently, I believe you had to make them in very controlled hermetical conditions.
This guy had his patent bought and then disappeared.
That is SO US. A smart company would have bought the patent, invested as heavily as it had to and created the cheap electric car. Ford sold hundreds of thousands of his Ford-T at a time when cars were for the eccentric rich. That company could have become the next Microsoft.
Instead we have Spanish companies coming to the US to invest in wind power plants. Because everybody else was busy buying AIG stock when they had money to invest.
Now who was harassing him is open to debate. It's like The Prisoner: Who is Imprisoning/harassing him? The "bad guys" would be a natural deduction. The "good guys" might too, because he knows too much.
I agree that Electric Cars are the future, but from my research, it seems Fuel Cells are complete BS. The technology is no where even close to being useable.
Hydrogen is just a way that the oil companies can stay in the game, producing something you have to buy from them.
Hydrogen can be produced by some algae, with advances in Bio-tech it might be possible to engineer bacteria that consume waste and produce hydrogen, it would solve 2 problems but open up a new can of bio ethics.
You being a lady I won't tell you what I really think about nuke power plants. Let's just say my possition is NOT a supportive one for the industry.
I am an ecologist and the only thing I hate more than a nuke power plant is a COAL power plant. Anything is better than coal.
I am desolated that my comment about a possible strategy for the GOP has become a debate on outdated, almost irrelevant, subjects. I only suggested them because GOP retards might think them still relevant.
The chance of another Chernobil against hundreds and hundred of plants burning whole forests' worth of coal every day for the last century. A few hundred tons of glow-in-the-dark garbage against acid rain and global warming. Hundreds and maybe thousands of death from coal mining against a few cancers.
Both are shit but the coal shit is more damaging right now.
Babe, all you need is a mortar and a pick up truck. You don't need to cause a Chernobyl, all you need is to put it out of commission for a while. Repeat it a few times and you shut down the power grid for the entire country.
They are just too delicate , everything is too interlinked.
Osama should have sent his 9/11 terrorists to blow up a nuke plant in the NY area. Imagine a Chernobyl there.
you're right on one point, with a nuke plant there's a CHANCE that things could go wrong, but with coal, there's a CERTAINTY that things will be fucked up.
The Swedes are developing deep mountain storage for nuke waste, in the nothern part of their country where nobody lives. Of course, that might seep into the water, or come into the environment somehow, but they below the caves is nothing but rock and hot lava, so .... Who knows?
Maybe we could use Antarctica, or some spot in the Sahara. That poison IS poison.
I have seen an industrial city from a distance. It was under a cloud of smoke. Polution. My mother is not the nicest person in the world, nor the most caring. She told me and my brothers. When I see that I feel like they should drop the nukes and end it all.
We can put all the nuclear garbage ever produced under a solid mountain and forget it. 2000 coal plants spewing poison scare me.
Do you know what is a better strategy than the one the GOP has? ANYTHING!!!
For CHRIST'S SAKE can't anybody think of ANYTHING ELSE?!? Taxcuts, lies and obstruction! You need a clue? Here is one off the top of my head...a protectionist stimulus package meant to replace the goods we buy from China with good made in the US. And build another 100 nuclear power plants. And build electric cars. There you have it. The Chinese would go histerical but so what? It would be good for the US.
Protectionism is useless, the WTO would take punitive action if the US tried it (America was quick to stop other members when they tried). US has no manufacturing industry so it would have to be rebuilt, the goods being made would cost more to make so retail inflation would increase dramatically.
Its about being practical, to bring back the industry is not economical, because even with 100% tariffs the items would still be cheaper to import from China. You dont mind paying more for "Made in USA" but a lot of families are barely surviving, if prices rose by 10% it would push them under - in a US only market expect prices to rise 100-200%.
dude I'm no where rich or upper class.I 'm A college student . I work two jobs. The only thing I could think god for is the fact that my gi bill cover all my school expences.
The REAL future of the US lies in new technologies of all kinds. What I proposed wasn't serious, just a bunch of nice SOUNDING ideas that at least would make the GOP look like it was thinking and actually caring for the country, instead of trying to make Obama fail by wrecking the nation.
Take a look at Ohio, they are turning auto part factories into windmill part factories and created and saved nearly 300,000 jobs last year. That is the way to go.
I understand but we really need newer tech, internal combustion + steam power are so 19th century.
GoP are run by small minded nutjobs, I thought they had a chance to reform but the way they attacked Meghan McCain showed they need a few year in the political wilderness.
Republican tax cuts my ass. Every time the cost of living goes up so do our taxes. Can anyone explain why we still use 150 year old tech to make electricity? its amazing that in 2009 we still use steam power to make it.
Its insane that we use the power from split atoms to do something as basic as boiling water, making steam and spinning a turbine.

Check out "Who Killed The Electric Car." There are lots of very interesting facts that represent some conspiracies.
For instance: An Oil Corp bought the patent to the Battery that got over 300 miles per charge... and then killed the research.

Isnt there a law that stops patents being used to block emerging competition?
Maybe someone should steal the idea and mass produce it.
Electric cars are the future, maybe with hydrogen cell tech.

I am certainly no expert in any way shape or form. The "facts" as I know 'em are:
My friend is a very responsible insanely intelligent guy who is not prone to exaggeration or hyperbole. So, from that POV, I completely believe him.
I think his friend started being harassed right after he sold the patent.

I got this off of the "Who Killed The Electric Car" DVD last night:
It takes 3 to 4 times more energy to run a Fuel Cell.
5 Miracles for a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car
1) Current Fuel Cell costs 1,000,000
2) Not enough room for Hydrogen Fuel No material known to man can store enough fuel to give the range people want on board the car
3) The Fuel is wildly expensive Even Fuel from dirty Fossil Fuel is 2 to 3 times more than gas
4) No Infrastructure
5) Competing Technology must NOT improve.
