Great review! I just got my zoom and am trying to learn how to use it and not mess it up. I have a question: if I move a widget to one of the five home pages (I'm not sure I have the correct name for them) and I no longer want it there and I throw it in the trash, does it delete the complete widget or just that shortcut? @TheChickenMaggoT That sounds like an easy fix. Try going into settings, manage apps, and looking through the installed applications for anything with Verizon in the title. Sounds like they left the Showcase on your tablet by accident. If you need more help PM me :)

The XOOM is the only tablet I know that works in a vehicle on FLIGHT MODE , in the GPS setting so you can travel anywhere, in flight mode, and have 100% function of your GPS program (provided you downloaded its maps onto your XOOM like Co-Pilot - and many others.)That means you're not using any of your GB which is great. The only thing greater, is the STYLUS-R-US stylus at beststylusDOTcom. OMG are they ever unreal. They have over 42 and 10 telescoping and they have the TERMINATOR! COOOOL!

I need an honest opinion on this.... I'm having a tough time deciding between the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy 10.1. I've heard that the display on the Xoom is not the greatest, is that the case? If so, is it enough to detract from the overall experience? I've noticed that the Xoom is a bit thicker, which doesn't really matter, but is it noticeably heavier? I'm going to be using it primarily for surfing the web and playing movies, as I have a fully capable laptop...

I was definitely thinking about getting one of these because I am in need of a tablet due to the fact that I'm sick of carrying my laptop around everywhere. A tablet would be very mobile and a great way to stay on top of things. My only issue is which to get? I'm comfortable with Windows 7. Yet i want something new. I'm just afraid to start using an android software because I'm not familiar with it.

@Mrjonessekid I do, I use it for only music and movies though... I'm sure it's capable of holding apps and books too. And yes, you can open .doc files in QuickOffice.

I wouldn't say this could get rid of your laptop though.. maybe for flights and movies, but there are some things a laptop is so much better at.

I tried to like this tablet but it was waaay too laggy. That can be really annoying when using spreadsheets or certain apps where the touch response's precision is a must like the piano app on iOS for example. I like the customization of android but the iPad's precision sold me.

Great job! As an illustrator, the deciding factor to get the Xoom for me was the fact that the Xoom can handle an external hard drive and you can upload to the Xoom, work on designs and then take the Xoom and hook it up to your PC to download the designs to the PC. iPad offers none of that. Wal-Mart now sells the Xoom for $499. - more for your money than iPad2 for sure.

On the ipad, While browsing in safari, and switching b/w tabs, do the pages reload or do they stay in memory? The ipad 1 had just 256mb of RAM. The ipad 2 has 512mb. Does that help while switching through tabs in safari?

What about the xoom? The xoom has 1GB of RAM which is significantly better. But does that improve the browsing experience. How many tabs can you open in the browiser before things begin to slow down on the xoom?

@malignanz ICQ has an Android app! I don't use it personally, but it's definitely available. It's not tablet optimized, but chances are it'll work just fine on the Xoom.

@artwel123 Technically, you can make calls with the xoom 3g. But it involves a little bit of hacking, not complicated hacking, but hacking nonetheless. I for one an not doing ANYTHING to my xoom till we get an SBF (if you don't know what that is, Google it).

So, in short, the xoom makes calls, just not without some help ;)

@artwel123 It depends who you are. Do you just need something to look a few things up on the web and check your email, and then play some games? Well, then get an iPad. But if you want something to do more heavy duty work, like editing documents, really using the web, and transfering files, then go with the xoom. The xoom definitely lacks apps made for tablets, but it has plenty of phone apps that scale perfectly. Plus, it doesn't crash, that's a rumor than iFans like to throw around :)

Think about it my new HTC HD7 phone has windows phone 7 marketplace.. it is so boring and so useless apps there. @VOXS2 Well I have now had an IPAD2 3G for a week now and I am glad I made the right choice! It just feels perfect like glass art! It won't replace laptop but it's the apps that bring it to life, there are apps for pretty much anything and most of those make up for the lack of flash.

One thing I must say about IPAD is I have yet to find a free spotify/grooveshark type site , if anybody knows anything please let me know. thanks

You get far more for your money with Xoom, 4G mobile internet, expandable memory up to 32GB, 1GB (PC RAM), HDMI and micro USB port, far better cameras with dual LED flash, larger and higher definition screen in a smaller circumference, stereo speakers, flash player and useful User Interface almost a PC all of which the iPad2 has NOT GOT and more...

@afterbirth83 I think so, but it's hard to tell. Sam's Club will basically just sell whatever they have. They are rarely told about what they are getting in each shipment, so if there are Xooms they'll sell them. Sam's Club definitely has them, but it's not on their site and is incredibly hard to find in a store.
