  • Cool cartridge man, you know when you said that the inventories were the same, did you mean item-wise? Because when you go into the Goron save, your arrows go from 29 (Because you fired one) to 30.

  • what a spoiler... GOOD THING I DIDNT WATCH DA BOSES and u kinda ruined it when u said u could get on the moon COOL!

  • Dare You To Break It.

  • I hated how this game saved. If you were playing and your game froze(and it did ALOT) you were screwed.

  • hm. it seems like they work on the puzzles and mazes first when they work on the game. then they work on the plot line and bosses. although that adolwa was in there. maybe they wanted all the bosses to be masked warriors but instead went with animal bosses for the rest of them.

as for the areas being fixed without defeating the bosses, it's as simple as flipping a switch. like, if link had the mask, then the area would be like this. they just apply the rule without it.

  • @metroidfannumber1

The game was already finished and released in Japan. This cart is the in-transition stage of the game being ported and finalized for North America.

  • @aleckermit hm? it was already finished? then what's the point aside from translation?

  • I HAVE THIS!! REALLY!

  • Hi, does the Majora's Mask grey cart have things that were changed from the original Japanese release such as the deku palace?

  • @Capsuledragon

No. Those things were changed between v1.0 JPN and v1.1 JPN as far as I know.

Glitch and programming wise, the demo is pretty identical to the North American release.

  • Wow, I just realized something. In the Woodfall Temple location, it gives you 8 small keys. But there's only really 1.

  • Oh shit, it's 0 a clock.

  • Just a question I've been wanting to know about these demo cartridges in case I ever come across one, but would you know if any of them are region coded?

Say, one of the carts used in a WalMart in America would work on a PAL N64?

  • @BrawlFanMario

They are all NTSC format and will not work in a PAL N64. The only exception is the PAL version of the Turok 2 NFR, it's the only N64 NFR Europe got.

  • what jackass scratched out the not for resale on the label? FAIL!

  • @arsenonecpc

I've seen quite a few NFR's where the text has been marked-out, just so that someone can feel comfortable "legally" selling the game. As far as I know, all Nintendo is mainly worried about is demo NFR's being sold for profit BEFORE the actual retail releas. They don't want to give the impression that it's the completed version of the game. Most NFR demo's aren't finished products quality wise, and Nintendo doesn't want people to think the game is for sale before it actually is.

  • I never knew Hank Hill owned an N64 :D

  • @thewhitebrazilian

Dammit Bobby get off your Mom's work computer!

  • Mine is awesome its gold and has a hologram! and is in perfect condition!!! I LOVE MM

  • not really a demo is it?

  • is there more then one of these?

  • @luigidudeful

Of course. I know of about.... 6 or so.

  • @aleckermit thanks. your extremly lucky to have these!:)

  • lol i just watched the vid and thought hey ill just go download it myself for free

  • Can I have them both?

  • @disturbedhalo117

Sure. Can I have your soul?

  • @aleckermit Hell yeah!

  • @aleckermit Wait only if it has power crouch stab.

  • @aleckermit ok

  • Found on ebay (gold tho) for $200. How much should i put mine up that someone will actually buy?

  • @ScReWaTtAcKeD

Yeah that $200 one is wwaaaay overpriced. If you want to sell an MM gold NFR, set it to a low starting bid. Should fetch around $32+ or so if in nice condition.

  • @aleckermit ahh. Mm-m--mmajora mask! Go look for BEN, i dare you.

  • I whish I had it :(:::::::::::::::::::::

  • I loved Adolwa

  • i bought one when it came out but my cartridge was gold. i think we gave it away....

  • i have a full game cartridge thats the full game and its grey and not japan?

  • Would you be able to do a video of the Skull Kid timer being carried over to the first day and then the moon crashing on the first day as a result? That'd be priceless to watch.

  • Does the moon come crashing down if you wait until the 3rd day in this game?

  • A long time ago I went to Toys R Us and saw this game and I never knew they were making a new Zelda game for N64 so when I saw this game I was so excited I ran away from my parents and started playing (it was in the beginning area) then I called my older brother over and he hogged it til we left, exploring the different locations (it was the grey cartridge) I was probably 6 or 7 years old but I still remember it because I've loved Zelda for so long.

  • Could I convince you to sell it?

  • This was interesting. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

  • The blue portal in woodfall doesn't always appear in the center of the room. It depends on where you're standing when you beat Odolwa.

  • Hey very interesting review, thanks !

So your the one that sell it on ebay, i'm searching for one like that but in good condition if possible.

  • @Atamoss

You're welcome. This is arguably the hardest N64 NFR to find so good luck to you.

  • This exact copy is on ebay right now.

    Short on rent? xD

  • @blutkind666x

No, I obtained another one of these carts believe it or not by stroke of luck (this new one's minty). Sold the old one for $260.

  • @aleckermit Wow rock on man, do you know roughly about how many of the carts exist? Im dieing to get a hold of one and would pay a killing for it.. [But, couldn't bring myself to by the one featured in your video, the torn label is just a shame ya know].

  • @blutkind666x

Well, I only only know of about 6 of these that exist. I've owned 2, SwordlessLink has one, and a few people on Nintendo Age own a copy. I would guess many thousand were made but Nintendo requests stores to "discard" the carts, or sometimes to send the carts back to them, so no doubt most of them are destroyed now. This N64 NFR is rarer than most of the others due to probably only being sent to a select chain of stores + accompanied instructions to trash it/return it.

  • Am I hallucinating or did they change the 'q' to a 'Q' in the quit button of the start menu in the final game?

For some reason the lowercase one is standing out awkwardly to me in this video.

  • @RustyKoi

There is no "quit" prompt in the retail game, just "Return". Quit takes you back to the level select, return only closes the pause menu.

  • When looking for one of these on eBay, I can only find Gold Cartridge Majora's Mask Not For Resales. You are one lucky ducky.

  • Hey Aleckermit, Is the bombchu hovering difference from the japanese version in this demo? (Where you need to get out your sword when you hover) And can you bombchu hover to the places the demo would kick you out/not let you go to?

  • @TheDreamingHawk

No, that hovering difference is not present. AFAIK, all the glitch fixes are the same as the retail game.

The demo let's you go everywhere, the only things that warp you back to the level select menu are 1. Obtaining an empty bottle 2. Obtaining a boss remains.

  • Watching tis again reminded me that I have a gold cart Holographic MM.

  • @90210bandgeek

Not trying to rain on your parade, but all North American Majora's Masks only come in gold and the holo label is just as common as the non-holo label.

  • @aleckermit Oh well it doesn't really matter to me. I just thought i'd bring it up y'know?

  • Actually, the blue warp for Odolwa will appear off-center in the retail version too, it depends on where odolwa is when you kill him.

    Great review btw.

  • What's the save file name? I'm sure there is some NPC that says your name in the textbox.

  • @suomiopreknaks

    "LINK"

  • How much did you need to pay for this?

  • Nice job detailing the differences.

One question, do you have an explanation for why when you start on a "savestate", it has your RED potion equipped on C, but the GREEN potion is highlighted in the inventory? What happens when you equip the red potion on another C button? Or actually use that red potion on C down? I thought this was odd.

  • @Runnerguy2489

Great eye, RG. Oddly enough when you drink the red potion on the C-down button the green potion in the inventory becomes empty and it heals your health! If you move the c-down red potion or equip the green potion it fixes it's color and heals magic instead.

  • Great review! There's one little error I'd like to correct though, at around 9:52. In the retail version, when you pick up the Heart Container that a boss has left behind, the special OoT sound still plays; the two versions only differ when you complete a HC by collecting four pieces.

  • @darkeye14

Ah man how'd I mess that up? Darkeye14 is all knowing.

  • wow this is impressive i have two zelda ocarina both gold does that make them valuable??? i love em so then thats a yes

  • I doubt that it'd be too hard to make a cheat that gives you all 4 sets of remains. I bet that their info is stored in the same relative position as the retail version.

  • FIRST oh wait NOBODY CARES!

  • FIRAT oh wait NOBODY CARES!
