I'm not as big as this guy, but I want to go into this gym one day, throw around a little weight and when they ask what I do for a living say "I'm a doctor. And your response is...?"
I actuelly work at one of these gyms and heres my opinion: the pros are that its pretty much as cheap as any gym is gonna get and it attracts alot of college girls in yoga pants. the cons are the gay ass lunk alarm, the lack of decent equipment, the fact that it attacts fat and old people, and how it mocks body builders when their actuelly pretty smart and kind. if your on a budget and you wanna get toned, then it isn't a bad place, if you can afford it, go to a real gym..
planet fitness is basically just a place for fatasses where they can "hit the treadmill" for, like, 30 minutes a week and then say: "I was at the gym today, now I can eat as much caek as I want durr hurr".
So does that mean that Planet Fitness is not the place to go to get ripped? Some brilliant marketing here. This is like an ad for a university that bashes intellectuals.
Planet Fatness, where we don't judge you. Unless you take fucking care of yourself.
Scum gym, scum people. However, with that said, that's an absurdly good pricing scheme they have. I pay about twice that for a decent place. Then again, I don't get a "lunk alarm" blaring every time I lift something heavy, so... Good trade.
Did I hear that correctly? $20 at the start, and $10 per month...So that's $140 for a whole year, that's fantastic. Over here (in rip-off Britain) the average monthly gym membership, is about £50 (approx $80) per month.
This is just another example of how much we get screwed in UK.
@drfriendlyfire same her the only good gym around where i live is like $600 a year but it has a pool and classes and stuff. But the good part is you can actually lift weights here.
So if you start getting results and start looking good working out at PF you either have to slack off or risk being ridiculed for being in awsome shape. What?
Well... First thing you need to do to meet a bodybuilder is to go to the gym, but I gues that this maybe a big issue when you are locked up at bellewue ;)
I love how they say its a judgement free zone when in all there ads and commercials they show big guys as idiots who no nothing but lifting and say the grunt and stuff, good job idiots at planet fitness
all they're saying is planet fitness is not for body builders, not everyone who goes to the gym wants to look like that so how about you little girls stop crying
This commercial pisses me off not only are they making fun of people how work out and lift weights they also try to mock Arnold Swarzeneger a man that had many outsdanding values outside of bodybuilding and people could really learn from.
@SuperJumbojoe bwahahahahaha.....outstanding values outside of bodybuilding?? like screwing his housemaid (and knocking her up) while already being married and having kids?? probably banged her in very bed he and his wife slept in.
@SuperJumbojoe True dat. Regardless of how his marriage failed, Arnold is extremely accomplished. In his lifetime he's made accomplished more feats and made more money than what your average pseudo-intellectual schlepping away for a bachelor's degree makes in 10 lifetimes.
@enfurno101 Absolutely you are right. People who seriously want to get in shape are out because Planet Fitness no more allows heavy-lifting exercises and only lazy people remain with free food provided. They focus on chatting and socializing by performing very-low-intensity exercises and regain calories they consume by taking free food after their workout. They never get a result in the environment and continue to update the membership of Planet Fitness unless they notice.
@gmanthebeast1 Nah I eat salads, hard boiled eggs, and corns & potatoes (etc) and do pilates, jogging, and free-weight srength but with my own body weight by stressing it in a more technically benificial way without real danger. :)
I have a few documentaries on bodybuilding, my favorite one is of course "Pumping Iron" by Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger. I point out merely that in "the old" days bodybuilding was a gross mess and many did just "lift things up and put them down". lol
@gmanthebeast1 Lucky charms? lol I don`t eat marshmallows, too much sugar and doesn`t taste awesome. Actually Those of my town find me crazy to replace lettuce with spinach or when call celery sticks as snacks, I`m all muscle, but not "big", no of course not I trained to be faster, stronger, and cardio. Muscles not everything. Besides that guy in the commercial is on steroids, easy to prove, men doesn`t grow that large naturally as so been studied more than once. GG to you sir. :)
@gmanthebeast1 Fat, right, I do mile runs so...I guess that makes me fat. lol Funny at first especially with the lucky charms obession of yours, glad you like them, but obvious troll now and will require you to find and actually try to stand toe with me before I care to hear more of you. >.>
@RayWillJohnson Short answer. 0.o ok then, well fyi the "I lift things up and put them down" guy is on steriods more than likely (There is a physical limit on size without some "help") and there is a poor percentage of bodybuilders who actually do well for themselves (who also happen to drive me less insane). There is my long answer, now go drink your protein shakes like it`s a happymeal.
@HeartStrong4ever There's a natural division in bodybuilding and a non-natural division. Search "Natural bodybuilder" and you'll see guys that big and bigger, guys that are tested regularly, and who have PHD's in nutrition and fitness. Planet Fitness is a joke and this proves it. Real results are gained through "I pick things up and put them down" Look up Layne Norton's interview on simply shredded
@MrGanaedwards The honest bodybuilders who actually have it also as a study would more likely go to a higher end gym than you would ever normally visit or even at home. :)
@STiZzL3 I lift plenty, benched pressed your girlfriend earlier this week. Anyhow, I have my own weights at home but I most do cardio doesn`t huge isn`t everything. 0.o
I think PF went too far by mocking the serious body builder but I think their gym philosophy is that there are many levels of fitness. Many average people are intimidated and turned off by gyms with people they can't relate to. This is just a marketing technique to get people into their gym. If it works and gets people healthier it's not so bad.
Planet Fitness, the "judgment free zone" but then they mock big guys who compete or could compete...do they even mock the all-natural body builder? Just some observations. I'm a medium sized guy but see the hypocrisy when they mock the idea of being a "muscle head carrying a gallon of water." Thank God for Future Fitness!
"Some strength atheletes believe that we are getting stronger and lifting very heavy things; then giving it all back to God as our way of bringing glory to Him." Agree! Chap.
Planet Fitness is the great gym. Free bagels, candies, chocolates, and pizza are available. I always go to work out on the free pizza day. No one intimidates others by throwing dumbbells and returning a barbell with heavy plates to the rack loudly, so we can focus on a serious workout. A 20-minute running and stretching are my workout routine. I feel really good to have free food after such a hard workout though my weight has been steady for years. It doesn't matter anyway.
It's ashame that bodybuilders can't get any work so they would resort to doing a commercial for a half ass gym that claims they aren't judgemental when they are the biggest critics of all.
do these big guys really cause ANY problems to people in the gym? 99.999% of the time no...they don't...the fatties are doing the machines and these guys are doing free weights and working out their aggression in the gym and are usually pretty chill.
If people knew how hard it is to get that big and the amount of knowledge that you must have of nutrition and discipline they wouldn't be so quick to look down their noses at bodybuilders. I know most of it is jealousy anyway. His chest is bigger than your gut. Don't get mad at him because he put in work.
@jasonito23 - let me tell you, when I go to the gym (I don't lift things up and put them down, I swim) I don't feel the slightest bit of jealousy when I see guys who don't know when is just too much. Why would I want to make myself walk around with my arms 2 feet away from my body?! I prefer a ripped, but lean body. That takes more knowledge regardint intake and exercises, in my opinion...
@CaprarulPavaloaie Ripped but lean =/= Ottermode. Sure, theres a point when your muscles are no longer considered aesthetic by the general public; but if you are going for that size you can't have the mindset of 'I'm working so I can look good on the beach this summer!'. No, you need the mindset of 'I'm working for ME. for MY goals. FUCK what everyone else thinks.' Besides, there is a happy medium of being strong and 'looking good' which looks much better than just being thin.
@MaidenofIron27 - well, to each his own, I guess. But I agree, it doesn't matter what you do, you have to do it for yourself, not to look good on the beach. :)
This is pretty much what I think of lunks. Either it's "I pick things up and put them down" or "I like to worship and grow my body in ways God did not intend."
@Holmes245 Ways God did not intend? God is all for us making our body the strongest version of itself. It is his temple, and he disires for it to be healthy and enduring.
On a side note, it is a judgement free zone; but they get to judge.
@Holmes245 The Bible says nothing regarding boundaries about one's physical strength/capabilities. Who says there is a thing called over-doing it? Because it isn't in the Bible.
@ChapmanManly I actually do agree with you on that Chapman. You're right, the Bible doesn't draw a line of distinction between fit and "over-doing" but it does draw a distinction between a proud heart and a mind of humility. I've known too many guys who either would let or do let their bodies get in the way. In other words, it does become more than just being fit. It becomes a "look at me" mentality.
@Holmes245I would venture to say most people do it to get recognition of their own. There is a "vein body builder" stereotype for a reason. However in all of the sister strength sports (Powerlifting, Strongman, Olympic Lifting, and Body Building) there are top atheletes from around the world who give God the credit for their strength and accomplishments.
@Holmes245 Some strength atheletes believe that we are getting stronger and lifting very heavy things; then giving it all back to God as our way of bringing glory to Him.
I'm asking that you will consider broadening your generalization.
@JrTadpole93 I have no problem with big and strong. It's unnecessarily big and strong I'm referring to. There's a point where it goes about being big and strong to look at me - I'm massive! Difference in attitude and approach.
Lift things up and put them down. Sounds like a deadlift, which is about 10000 times better for training the posterior chain then whatever that guy is doing. But hey, at least the poor thing isn't being intimidated by people who actually understand strength training and don't want to waste time with that sort of bullshit. Nope, he's going to keep wasting time and be perfectly content with mediocrity! Nice job, planet fitness!
So...the point of planet fitness is to keep people from reaching their goals so that they waste their lives in this shit hole? I bet the only heavy lifting that goes on there is the paying of hefty gym fees
@CycoTek maybe they have all the fancy shit like: reserved lockers, pools, basketball, squash, and racquetball courts, saunas, towel service, and childcare services that drive the price up through the roof. but they also attract snotty nosed think their better then everyone else because their richer than everyone else, think thier shit doesnt stink JERKOFFS (i fucking hate snobby people).
@MattytheDem I didn't know free weights was considered fancy equipment. All planet fitness has are machines. Oh, and they have pizza too. I hate snobby people, but if you can watch this and say planet fitness doesn't think "they're shit doesn't stink" then there is something wrong with you. @ChuckJamesDet said it best.
@CycoTek Ya know they use only water to spray down the equipment, as in we tested. CHEAP ASS MF'ers caused an outbreak of Staph infections in Florida a few years back.
"HAHAHA! WHAT A DUMBASS! HE JUST LIFTS THINGS UP AND PUTS THEM DOWN! WHAT A TYPICAL DUMB LUNK! THANK GOODNESS FOR PLACES LIKE PLANET FITNESS, NOW I CAN GET SOME REAL EXERCISE DONE WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT THOSE GUYS!" *runs on treadmill for 15min* "Oh boy, that was one heck of a workout! I'd say I've earned myself a slice of pizza, or 6! LOL!~"
Alarm on my 3rd workout in your morbid gym..Yes morbid.Your members had died already. An alarm and some frail crap staff member walks over lying that I had dropped my weights and set the alarm off. I quit that day.Screw off already. Not worth my time, lying piece of crap. They triggered the alarm as I was a bit TO FIT to work out in a MORGUE.So now I'm here..Im going to blast you everywhere I can so people know who the hypocrites are in this game.I didn't know at the time of your madness.I know now
your flawed concept will only produce and encourage the weak feeble minded members you go after.Since they lack any shred of kick ass in them..they will be the SHEEP of the planet. Keep your lousy 10$ memberships..rather pay 30 or 40 somewhere else and workout with happy people who don't whine and not ashamed to come out the house. We the bodybuilders/athletes are the ones your members will have to turn to when they really get serious if not to late.
@silvermonkey299 Not what i heard, I heard he set the alarm off when he walked in and flexed his pecs and biceps. The membership lasted a total of 45 seconds.
@jayerUchiha36 It's not the commercial it's what actually goes on inside that gym. I live by a Planet Fitness (which used to be a Wal-Mart) and let me tell you, they are EXTREMELY judgmental there. People with disorders are made fun of by young idiots who are only there to fool around and talk. Also the employees are appalling. They only let bodybuilders carry a certain amount of water inside the gym... They SAY it's a judgmental free zone but believe me it's the exact OPPOSITE.
How could this dude film in this commercial? He just insulted all the people that are buffed like he is. And for what, for some 1000$? Damn it, roids not just shrunk his balls, they made them go away...
I'm not as big as this guy, but I want to go into this gym one day, throw around a little weight and when they ask what I do for a living say "I'm a doctor. And your response is...?"

First off "big" doesn`t mean "fit", in fact many bodybuilders have died for health issues.
They`re saying they help you be fit, meaning "realistically in shape, not just big"
Also this ties to "once upon a time, being large must mean you`re in shape" myth.
Seriously, very awesome and forward commercial to those who wish to do more than "lift things up and put them down". :)
Work smarter, not harder! :D

This is pretty much what I think of lunks. Either it's "I pick things up and put them down" or "I like to worship and grow my body in ways God did not intend."
Holmes245 2 weeks ago
@Holmes245 Ways God did not intend? God is all for us making our body the strongest version of itself. It is his temple, and he disires for it to be healthy and enduring.
On a side note, it is a judgement free zone; but they get to judge.
ChapmanManly 2 weeks ago
@ChapmanManly There's healthy and enduring and then there's just overdone.
Holmes245 2 weeks ago
@Holmes245 The Bible says nothing regarding boundaries about one's physical strength/capabilities. Who says there is a thing called over-doing it? Because it isn't in the Bible.
ChapmanManly 2 weeks ago
@ChapmanManly I actually do agree with you on that Chapman. You're right, the Bible doesn't draw a line of distinction between fit and "over-doing" but it does draw a distinction between a proud heart and a mind of humility. I've known too many guys who either would let or do let their bodies get in the way. In other words, it does become more than just being fit. It becomes a "look at me" mentality.
Holmes245 2 weeks ago
@Holmes245I would venture to say most people do it to get recognition of their own. There is a "vein body builder" stereotype for a reason. However in all of the sister strength sports (Powerlifting, Strongman, Olympic Lifting, and Body Building) there are top atheletes from around the world who give God the credit for their strength and accomplishments.
ChapmanManly 1 week ago
@Holmes245 Some strength atheletes believe that we are getting stronger and lifting very heavy things; then giving it all back to God as our way of bringing glory to Him.
I'm asking that you will consider broadening your generalization.
ChapmanManly 1 week ago
@Holmes245 If God didn't intend for us to become big and strong, why did he design our bodies to that we could become big and strong?
JrTadpole93 2 weeks ago

MattytheDem 3 weeks ago 3
@MattytheDem I didn't know free weights was considered fancy equipment. All planet fitness has are machines. Oh, and they have pizza too. I hate snobby people, but if you can watch this and say planet fitness doesn't think "they're shit doesn't stink" then there is something wrong with you. @ChuckJamesDet said it best.

@CycoTek Ya know they use only water to spray down the equipment, as in we tested. CHEAP ASS MF'ers caused an outbreak of Staph infections in Florida a few years back.

No Planet Weakness..not your Planet..OURS
your flawed concept will only produce and encourage the weak feeble minded members you go after.Since they lack any shred of kick ass in them..they will be the SHEEP of the planet. Keep your lousy 10$ memberships..rather pay 30 or 40 somewhere else and workout with happy people who don't whine and not ashamed to come out the house. We the bodybuilders/athletes are the ones your members will have to turn to when they really get serious if not to late.

Its just a funny commercal, why people such crybabies about every little thing, come nobody don't find that shit funny as hell?
jayerUchiha36 1 month ago 2
@jayerUchiha36 It's not the commercial it's what actually goes on inside that gym. I live by a Planet Fitness (which used to be a Wal-Mart) and let me tell you, they are EXTREMELY judgmental there. People with disorders are made fun of by young idiots who are only there to fool around and talk. Also the employees are appalling. They only let bodybuilders carry a certain amount of water inside the gym... They SAY it's a judgmental free zone but believe me it's the exact OPPOSITE.
theluigifan1 4 weeks ago
That shit is so funny, cause it so simple, why he just keep sayin it over and over lol!
