smell the transmission fluid if it smells burnt or a burnt plastic smell yes its pretty much a bad day but you should have your car's computer checked out. i had a 1997 geo metro that had the same problems and i went and got it tested i needed a vehicle speed sensor for the power train. i hope this helps!
ounce it slips its done it will always slip and u need to change clutch packs and servos. i dont think just a sensor will fix it. cuz the band is not grabbing the drum or planetary members tight
Click on the first link. (Most likely you have a bad TCU...there is a known issue with components in the Transmission control unit getting fried) more questions, hit me up.
@killinIntegra These 4 speed automatic transmissions in 1990-1997 Honda's are generally bulletproof but transmission from 1998-2005(4spd and 5pd autos) are junk though.
Hey, i have a 93 accord LX and im having trouble with the battery. It starts when i jump-Start -it, but after i turn it off it wont start on it's own....is the starter or what??
my friend's 2001 honda accord v6 4door does the same thing i know the problem the tranny and the clutch is slipping and i don't know if there is a way to fix this problem it is pretty tricky
i was going to say keep driving it till it wont drive no more ..thats my moto...ive lost 3rd & 4th gear in my atx mustang..but that doesnt stop me hell i been driving around 2nd gear sinse last winter and im always @ 4.5k rpms.. dam thing does not want to stop hahaha.
Hey, After you check the trans filter, If still Slipping, I think I know the problems is. When your engine is cold will cause your slipping gear. And when engine is hot, will not slip the gear. So that kinda normal. Because mine does that.
I know all the older model of honda accord like 1990 - 2001, have a transmission problems. I have 1998 Honda Accord and it has 225,000 miles and still going! I loved that car! And the engine still have 100% compression.
So when my accord hit 190,000, my tranny starting to slip. so I flushed the tranny. Still slipping in gears. I took this car to auto and they said, the tranny filter was clogged.
Hopefully yours will be that problems otherwise to get a new tranny which cost nearly $2,000.
Transmission problem. Check your transmission fluid to see if dark color, if yes try to flush it and change into fresh one, check trans filter and it might be clogged.
i did get new transmission fluid and that didn't help much (i don't think) but i am going to see if one of my friends can take a look at it and look at the filter because my uncle things its that screen/filter that is being clogged
