  • If you realize that movies aren't real, then scary movies aren't bad. I have done this and...(call me sadistic) I found the movie hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing at the second half! It was SOOOO fake!

  • first hour of this film was only good because of the boobs.

  • that was a really good review!

  • Wow if you were disturbed or nearly passed out by this, your a pussy. seriously i thought there was gonna be so much more, but it wasnt bad at all. the only part i cringed at the slightest was when the asian girl got her eye ripped out and yellow stuff poured out.

  • @Cxmedy Same for me...

  • Why do men not mention the incredible amount of female nudity in this but rant & rave about the buff werewolves in Twilight??? Also, I kind of feel like Hellraiser took the torture porn genre to the next level. Also there's The Human Centipede. Hostel was Thailand snuff film porno garbage.

  • @808Lana well i dont care about the nudity personally male or female but men just like to see that just as much as females like to see some guy with there shirt off with six pack abs

  • i think that hostel doesn't have any strong violence, I saw it and i thought it was a kinda of comedy, because i was expecting a very gore movie, but it was pretty soft....i think

  • How much violence do you want, for fucks sake!? Their on a boys holiday to get layed, so it has to start out that way, so as to build the story and also to contrast things. I found it very disturbing, to think it was actually based on something that was actually going on in Tailand.

  • Your voice makes me wanna rip a pillow apart my man

  • when i think violence i think of explotions and gun fights i dont think torture i didnt know that torture counted. would defining violence just be someone getting hurt?

  • All you people saying you dont like this movie, obviosly dont understand it, its not ment to be violent like hell or build characters, its ment to follow the lead character on his search for his friends it makes it into my top 100 anyway ;)

  • Hostel wasn't very violent at all

  • People should just really stop debating over this movie. Everyone has their own opinion and stop insulting each other and say that movies like this are for sick sadistic fuckers. If you like it, that's great, if you didnt like it, that's great too. Everyone just shut up about this movie.

  • Hostel is one of my favorite movies and one of the best movies ever made.

  • I completly agree with this review. It had violence, but thats it and the characters were annoying

  • I hate eli roth. I was suckered into his movie cabin fever.

  • If you are going to watch this movie, don't expect it to be the next "Titanic". This movie was set out to do one thing, gross you out and I think that it did manage to do that in some points. Was it a great film? No. Did it do what it set out to do? Yes. Grade it in a matter in which you grade not what it did, but if it did do what it set out to do, and if it did it well. Saw, however, is much "smarter", at least the 1st one was.

  • This one time I was picking up some dvd's and there was Hostel between them, I thought, why not?! I'm gonna get it, I've heard that name before, I'm gonna buy this thing, nothing planned, it just happend..

    Holy F&$#cking shit! This movie!

    SUCKS!

I really wanted to destroy it after I saw (sh)it!

The ''bearJew'' made this piece of crap movie, how could he?! Damn, dude..

I'm gonna put the dvd outside on a bench for someone to find it with a note saying ''HAHA THE JOKE'S ON YOU''.

  • I thought this was a nice break from those soft teen Scream wannabe teen horror flicks of the late 90's. This one is raw tough and goes for the jugular and reflect 9/11 i a good way.

But not as graphic as Men Behind The Sun, Salo, Caligula, Videodrome, The Thing, Inside, Martyrs, The Untold Story, The New York Ripper and many more.

  • this has a great goddamn story, and like 20 mins of blood in the hour and a half.

  • i can understand why eli roth made this movie but its still a shity film lol it really isnt that violent ive really seen much more violent in the past

  • And one more final comment. There is depth in the reason way the girls are haveing the guys tortured in the first place. Paxton, Josh, and Oli all went to yes get layed, and paying X amount of money to have their fantasies satisified. well when they are kidnapped and tortured, it gets turned around and the 3 guys are like the hookers they were paying for. Natalya and Svetlana paid to have their fantasies satisified and the victims were Paxton, Josh, and Oli. Tables turned. Pay Back is a BITCH!!!

  • And another, what you said about depth. The movie has absolutly no depth in the beginning, but when Paxton is telling Josh the story about the little girl who drowned, and Paxton had the chance to save here but didn't, well when Paxton escaped from the room and from being tortured, he herd Kana screaming, and decided to save her. It's like the story Paxton told, only he took the risk and saved her. it was shitty though that then she killed her self. Bitch is going to hell, THE SIN OF PRIDE.

  • also to continue, i as well agree with you that the violence scenes seemed very short. I greatly favor the character of Paxton and i have watched his torture scene of his a few times and i timed it once, from the time the thugs grabbed him and dragged him to the room to be tortured to the time Paxton escaped from the room, the scene only lasted 8 min. and after watching it so many times, the scene feels like it ends in a short time of 4 minutes.

  • okay the first 40 minutes, it's not a bad teen comedy like you said, but it's a lame ass porno. all you see is boobs. WTF! i hate how in the trailer, it builds you up for this big scary bloody gore movie, and you start to watch it, and its porn and pot. but the torture scenes i thought were very well done and convinceing once the movie got going (40 min. in). the ending was also good in my opinion. it builds it up and it really pulls you in. so first half was shitty, but the ending was great.

  • spot on - violence for the sake of it

  • yeah i mean there are certain violent films that seem to have some deeper meaning behind them but no, i couldn't find any here!

  • i personally prefer hostel over saw.

the problem i had with saw was that its ending came out of nowhere(not in a good way)

a twist only works if the movie was building up towards it.

There was no indications leading to saws ending.

    anyways i like them both.

    id give hostel and 8/10

    and saw 6/10

  • good review as always
