people - it's not the colour of humans that makes things destructive, it is the choices they make. We are all interconnected, let us try to be together in harmony.
Hi there Ronald - my friend is one of only a few outside of Turtle Island - residing in the UK - who makes authentic Native American Flutes - it is a haunting but beautiful sound that harmonises with every aspect of the Creator it touches or it's medicine reaches.
I was looking for something to wake me up and get me moving...guess I was doing it in a brainwashed western way, needing loud jarring active noise to push me out my door. I found this just before the sun was all the way up. I remembered notions like balance, dedication, true strength. I smiled, went out to meet the sun, and my grandparents (over coffee). Thank you.
Great flute culture. Native Indian flute has very original construction which is really unique in the world. I hate those spiritual music of American Indian flute with synthesizers, but I love this kind of authentic solo performance like on this video.
Very nice,You have wonderful talent and Heart...As a maker and player of the Native flute i know it's Power of healing and you relay that very well..Thanks for sharing..:)
@ronaldroybal-i see your point of view-i also hear seniors say they are lonely for their grandchildren-and grandchildren too-in matriarchy families grandmothers were revered and needed for being the teachers and helping protecting her daughter and children-this created a strong power base to protect children from abuses-could it be that those who sell products and services have become more important than the safety of our mothers and her children? ask grandmothers where they want to be-good msic

men and there lust for one thing whether white or any race is greed we kill each other for nothing and we die and leave it . it has been this way since time began brother against brother. to be honest i am sometimes ashamed to be white but the mistakes of the past can only be remembered not corrected and learned from lest we forget and make the same mistake again.
@elicroy no need to bring race into the discussion my friend, all it does is divide. Also, I assure you, all the "white" people that destroyed Native American culture are dead. Personally I use the Soulfly philosophy; one tribe.
Who made the flute you are playing on? What tribe is it from? I am looking for a Navajo flute. Do you know where I could get one like the one used in the movie "Wind Talkers?"
@NYCrooner1 it's f-cking amazing what are you talking about, i have a bit of Seneca in me and i plan on reviving every last aspect of old native american life, not just for their sake, but for the enviroment and every thing else the white men ruined in this world
As a Theatre Tech/Sound Technician, I would identify that as a "Microphone" most likely being used to pick up the sound of the flute for purposes of recording. Note: I am not a Sound Recording Engineer (most of the time! :), so if it is being used for recording purposes, it is outside of my main field of expertise.
OK, now that I have the "Ask a question, get a stupid answer" Youtube standard smartass remark out of the way! :)
It looks like an AKG C 419 Instrument mic. Pretty standard fare...
Actually, I was performing for a group with the microphone connected to a Gallien Krueger amplifier. The film crew recorded me from some distance away.
The AKG C419 is the best microphone for performance I have ever used. That's why I own several for back up. Every flute has a different dynamic and that is why a lavalier doesn't work very well for my purposes. Mic stands are a pain and are very ugly and feed back is always an issue. Honestly, I have been doing this for many, many years. My rig works great and the proof is in the number of positive comments that I get!
After enjoying more of your videos, I became aware that it was your mic!
My comments were based on my preferences, but if you ask 3 recording engineers how something should be mic'ed, you'll get 8 answers anyway (and if you're lucky, a fight :)
If you are doing it yourself, and using it for reinforcement and not just recording then that changes the picture, and it sounds like you have a very good system.
Wonderful. You are the reason I picked up the flute; you and Mary Youngblood. Absolutely beautiful. Thank-you for sharing your gift with the Universe. Peace-n-Love to you always
Absolutely beautiful.. where can you buy a flute like that? I am very interested in acquiring one of these flutes to help me in my meditation, and for the sake of making music.

Hi Ronald, I play traditional scandinavian flutes, but just bought two Yazzie native american flutes. Your videos seem like a great place to start learning traditional pieces. It looks like an AKG C 419 Instrument mic. Pretty standard fare...
ke6gwf 2 years ago
Hmm, my smartass ran me out of room! :)
For the record, I wouldn't have used that mic in this situation, because it's too ugly for a performance insturment.
In a studio, it would be perfect, but for a performance, I would either use a mic stand, or an omni lavaliere mic on the artist.
Also, having the mic that close keeps it from picking up all the tones coming from the further parts of the flute as well.
Sorry for the long response, I guess I must be bored tonight!
Love this flute... :)

This is the best NA flute song I've ever heard. The best take on the Sunrise Song, the best resonance of all the versions I've heard. Five stars for this song!
