i liked akio at first, then at the end he just acted like a bitch, ugh.... touga you are so mcuh better. i'm so happy utena didn't completely die. The movie got my hopes up.

Yep the ending interpretations are quite open, so many things could have happened...

Akio was always bad but he seemed so good...that was part of his evil charm. Whereas Touga seemed bad but had a redeeming spark...intriguing.
