I've been a fan of these guys since Dawn of Possession first came out. Every album is good at worst and incomparably awesome at best. Ross Dolan has the most sinister vocal delivery in the world.

I will say though, one main reason is because they don't pull out a million albums at a time, but keep it very solid and strong with the few (8 full lengths) releases they have. they had 4-5 year gaps between albums, but clearly you see the benefit of being professional and not rushing to put out albums just for the hell of it. That's why they're one of the Big Four of Death Metal!! \M/\M/!!!

The first extreme bands I started with were (old) Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, and Behemoth. Thank god I started off the right way.

When I was younger I listened to slipknot/disturbed/mudvayne, and as I grew older I got into death metal, thrash metal, etc etc. I still listen to those bands for nostalgic enjoyment. I won't ever rip on those bands, because without them I would have never even known of a band as great as Immolation.

agreed. i also detest the hate that mainstream metal bands get. the mainstream metal bands today kick ass for the most part. they're almost all unique. disturbed is a perfect mix of aggression, deep and also dark lyrics, dan rips flawless solos, and they're an extremely solid band. slipknot is just strange, but that makes for a good band. a7x is extremely experimental and never repeat themselves and syn is a solo master. it's all good. underground =/= better. fame means nothing.

Deathcore never tried or claimed to be death metal. Not sure what the debate is. There are certainly talented deathcore artists but they should not be compared to death metal as they are two different genres. Apples and oranges.

Immolation is cool, sometimes. They have a lot of sweet riffs but they end up a little too far up the In Flames ladder for me. All their songs are too similar for my tastes. Some cool solo's would go a long way.

@Tainted369 Who knows? I mean, I'm only 19, and I started listening to metal when I was 13, so around the time the -core genres started popping up. I didn't even start with them. The first extreme bands I started with were (old) Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, and Behemoth. Thank god I started off the right way.

When I was younger I listened to slipknot/disturbed/mudvayne, and as I grew older I got into death metal, thrash metal, etc etc. I still listen to those bands for nostalgic enjoyment. I won't ever rip on those bands, because without them I would have never even known of a band as great as Immolation.

Yeah, I started off with those bands too (minus Mudvayne, I don't really like them), but I was only listing the first extreme bands that I got into haha. But yeah, it's the same for me. I started off with those bands, then worked my way up to metal...if that makes any sense whatsoever.

agreed. i also detest the hate that mainstream metal bands get. the mainstream metal bands today kick ass for the most part. they're almost all unique. disturbed is a perfect mix of aggression, deep and also dark lyrics, dan rips flawless solos, and they're an extremely solid band. slipknot is just strange, but that makes for a good band. a7x is extremely experimental and never repeat themselves and syn is a solo master. it's all good. underground =/= better. fame means nothing.

immolation is also one of the vintage... immolation ,pestilence, mortification they were the bunch of bands whom were famous metal bands in the late 90's.... a veteran metal fan should have known the angst of immolation. the dislikers are a breed of new generation kids that trying hard to get into metal..

Deathcore never tried or claimed to be death metal. Not sure what the debate is. There are certainly talented deathcore artists but they should not be compared to death metal as they are two different genres. Apples and oranges.

Immolation is cool, sometimes. They have a lot of sweet riffs but they end up a little too far up the In Flames ladder for me. All their songs are too similar for my tastes. Some cool solo's would go a long way.

Fucking old school never dies I remember this band when they began. as for death core they turn the gain all the way up and the amp sounds like shit and chug all this 1 finger bar chord shit and don't know how to use the rest of the strings thats why they have bass guitars for keeping the underlayment and guitars can do riff and lick work.
