Decent band but what a bunch of tossers they turned up lat to our gig trashed the place and wanted us to get them groupies to shag....Bloody one hit wonders Bet their stacking shelves in tescos now!! lol
Why would i need to source and purchase new tapes? The great thing is, you can just record over things you've already watched! Amazing. And in a such a throwaway society I think its good that people use things that still work rather than just buy new because they are outdated. Or perhaps as a student, I should just have racked up a massive debt buying stuff that I couldn't afford. Would that have been better?
This tawdry offering was nothing but a 3rd-rate rip-off of The Jam. They truly deserved not only the hatred heaped upon them at the time but also their ignominious fate.
They looked as if success was entirely accidental & - seemingly not possessing many active brain cells to share between them - it really showed. They got a lot of piss (and, presumably, contracted monies) taken before rapidly imploding in the too-much-blow-too-soon ending already written for them. Although they managed that with uncharacteristic efficiency. Big in Japan , they should have made the most of it ,instead of starring in their very own cautionary Camden Coke Comedy.
Get Loaded in the Dark hits the Coronet on Thursday 1st April 2010 and is set to be another sell-out episode!

@krakenwave I fail to see what is quite so unbelievable. Not everybody had the money to buy new things and it worked pretty well thank you. And where do you get off telling people what in your opinion is a "bullshit memory"? Screw you!
How righteously skint of you - but presumeably you had the not-inconsiderable amount of money needed to source and purchase the vanishingly small amount of new Beta cassettes by then.
I saw them at the heineken music festival in leeds too, i was fifth into the signing tent behind some birds from leicester after saying i was going to the front to get Marion's autograph. Then i had a chat with the bassist from Powder who were bottom of the bill. I was 12.
Wooah, i feel young again, britpops scapegoat band, amazing though, saw em at leeds heiniken fest in 1995, still on the look out for their great long lost 2nd album!
Totally right! Sums up the decline of Indie music doesn't it? Menswear were SLATED! Most of today's bands would kill for just ONE of Menswear's tunes.
Awesome! Britpop belongs to Menswear, putting out alot better stuff than most of the other bands like say those talentless wankers from Manchester,Oasis! The crap they were putting out 95/96,come to think of it their still putting out crap! Menswear rule! Interesting fact my keyboard player in my band uses the exact same Vox keyboards Menswear used!
I saw them at York uni i 1995, they were rubbish, good few singles they did though... a mate of mine in the JCR who was 'looking after' them backstage sapt on their sandwiches...great
Sadly they were ridiculed during Britpop because they appeared on the cover of Melody Maker before they even had a record deal, so they had an image of being style over substance, which was really unfair as their album 'Nuisance' was equal to anything the other Britpop bands put out. Better infact in many cases. Saw them live in Camden, one of the best gigs I've seen.
Elastica and Suede as well but it's just Menswear were average. Great single but the Lp was just ok. I saw them in France and they were spitting on their audience
To me it doesn't sound anything like the rest of britpop - well not at least anything like Blur, Suede, Pulp or Oasis. Those bands had tuneful songs, and though the vid is quite cool, the singing.. well, tuneful, it is not.
If you check out the Nuisance album you can hear influences from The Who, Beatles, Small faces and Sex Pistols. It's classic Britpop, moreso than Pulp ever were.

I didnt record this on anything....coz I was only 5. Rad. Britpop was merely background music to my power rangers toys.

The Kaiser Chiefs sound like Menswear and are heralded as being brilliant. Menswear are miles better and they got the piss taken out of them.
