  • Decent band but what a bunch of tossers they turned up lat to our gig trashed the place and wanted us to get them groupies to shag....Bloody one hit wonders Bet their stacking shelves in tescos now!! lol

  • I like this song but they look like blur in "For tomorrow"

  • Nice band! Greetings from Russia. :)

  • Big Fan. Seen the promo many times. Only just noticed the mic stand that Simon White takes at 1:30. Weird.

  • I didnt record this on anything....coz I was only 5. Rad. Britpop was merely background music to my power rangers toys.

  • Why would i need to source and purchase new tapes? The great thing is, you can just record over things you've already watched! Amazing. And in a such a throwaway society I think its good that people use things that still work rather than just buy new because they are outdated. Or perhaps as a student, I should just have racked up a massive debt buying stuff that I couldn't afford. Would that have been better?

  • Recording on Betamax recorder in 1996?

    Fuck off.

  • 1:55 bwhahahaa

  • Chris is so cute.

  • One Of The Best Fucking Songs from 90's

    =D

  • And the award for the worst UK band, EVER is..........

  • @darrenw5094

    Space?

  • @theguthrieclinic Lol.....i forgot about them. :)

  • This tawdry offering was nothing but a 3rd-rate rip-off of The Jam. They truly deserved not only the hatred heaped upon them at the time but also their ignominious fate.

  • @krakenwave k, fine, what do u really think?

  • @carlo88moe

They looked as if success was entirely accidental & - seemingly not possessing many active brain cells to share between them - it really showed. They got a lot of piss (and, presumably, contracted monies) taken before rapidly imploding in the too-much-blow-too-soon ending already written for them. Although they managed that with uncharacteristic efficiency. Big in Japan , they should have made the most of it ,instead of starring in their very own cautionary Camden Coke Comedy.

  • @krakenwave lol, thanks for that, that was good

  • I loved I'll manage somehow but hated the lbum and the album version of this

  • love this track, takes me back to those heady britpop days

  • fantastic!!!!

  • Franz Ferdinand with bad luck

  • Double track the shit out of everything and hope it works!

TBH they were new age mod tarts signed before they had actually played a gig.

Singer was a poof too freaked out after a line poor thing....

  • utter shite

  • Chris Gentry mmmmmmmmmmm * faints *

  • Top Mods!! If Menswear had emerged in 2005 ...would they have been the Kaiser Chiefs?

  • better than the kaiser chiefs

  • I loved this band, they were always on the Chart Show Indie Chart. I used to tape them on my beta max! How old do i feel?

  • @monkeyflump You had a Betamax in the mid 1990's? :O

  • @monkeyflump

    A Betamax VCRF in 1996?

    Don't believe you

  • @monkeyflump

    Recording on betamax in 1996?

No fucking way. Any more bullshit "memories" to spray around before you go?

  • @krakenwave I fail to see what is quite so unbelievable. Not everybody had the money to buy new things and it worked pretty well thank you. And where do you get off telling people what in your opinion is a "bullshit memory"? Screw you!

  • @monkeyflump

How righteously skint of you - but presumeably you had the not-inconsiderable amount of money needed to source and purchase the vanishingly small amount of new Beta cassettes by then.

  • These were meant to be the next big thing..

I remember the Melod Maker creaming theirselfs everyweek about them..

And then after a few months...Dissapeared without trace.

  • Another one of those bands like Gay Dad, The Twang etc.

  • I saw them at the heineken music festival in leeds too, i was fifth into the signing tent behind some birds from leicester after saying i was going to the front to get Marion's autograph. Then i had a chat with the bassist from Powder who were bottom of the bill. I was 12.

  • get the album Nuisance. its "jolly good"

  • The guitarist now plays for The Parents!

  • Menswear were aces. Making up the fey side of Britpop along with Suede. I rate them over the thuggery of Oasis any day.

  • What other song could have the words "jolly hard" in it? Moysweetie's right, music has changed :(

  • ahhhh the Music back then was top class..wtf has happened =( I miss it \o/

  • GODBLESS 1995!

  • I absolutely loved this album and played it to death when it came out, must dust it off, brilliant x

  • Wooah, i feel young again, britpops scapegoat band, amazing though, saw em at leeds heiniken fest in 1995, still on the look out for their great long lost 2nd album!

  • A total and utter rip off of Oblivion by Aztec Camera... I still love it though.

The Kaiser Chiefs sound like Menswear and are heralded as being brilliant. Menswear are miles better and they got the piss taken out of them.

  • Sorry I obviously meant Oblivious!

  • You are right on so many levels its scary.

Saw them in the Jug of ale (brum).. went there ready to take the piss, but in fairness they were actually a bloody good band.

"The Kaiser Chiefs sound like Menswear and are heralded as being brilliant"

    Sums it up for me..

  • Totally right! Sums up the decline of Indie music doesn't it? Menswear were SLATED! Most of today's bands would kill for just ONE of Menswear's tunes.

  • love this song

    very very cool

  • haha! shit hot! blast from the past! nuisance woz a crackin summer brit pop album! ah the good old days!!!!

  • Oh the bone structures, the bone structures!

  • hahaha thats my sisters fiance, johnny dean

  • this songs off their album called nuisance if anyone`s interested. :-)

  • i just can't find the album nowhere in the net..they sound very good...

  • eee stn putso mas...ti na kanume????na sto agorasume???eeeeeeeee re ti malakes iparxun s auti tn koinwnia???

  • the beginning is like country house

  • I spent many nites listening to Menswea in my bedroom lol...loved these guys x

  • i always considered them the bastard child of all the good bands of the brit-pop era, but I am an American.

  • If you want reminding of more great 90's music videos like this, check out my website 90smusic <dot> Co <dot> UK

  • OMG these guys used to be MY FAVOURITE BAND!!!

I knew this was their first single, but never knew there was a video though! I used to listen to this every day onb the way to school <3

They were really sexy weren't they? Especially Johnny and Mett <333

  • Awesome! Britpop belongs to Menswear, putting out alot better stuff than most of the other bands like say those talentless wankers from Manchester,Oasis! The crap they were putting out 95/96,come to think of it their still putting out crap! Menswear rule! Interesting fact my keyboard player in my band uses the exact same Vox keyboards Menswear used!

  • I saw them at York uni i 1995, they were rubbish, good few singles they did though... a mate of mine in the JCR who was 'looking after' them backstage sapt on their sandwiches...great

  • I stole his shoes and ran away, trying jolly hard to see if we can catch him round the bend...OH NO

  • menswear were brilliant...(in my opinion)...i still listen to the album today!

  • i loved this band :D

  • Sadly they were ridiculed during Britpop because they appeared on the cover of Melody Maker before they even had a record deal, so they had an image of being style over substance, which was really unfair as their album 'Nuisance' was equal to anything the other Britpop bands put out. Better infact in many cases. Saw them live in Camden, one of the best gigs I've seen.

  • Elastica and Suede as well but it's just Menswear were average. Great single but the Lp was just ok. I saw them in France and they were spitting on their audience

  • jhonny works in a phone shop...poor thing! i love menswear!

  • i know, he should work in Top Shop or Urban Outfitters!

  • someone tell me please what´s the difference between this and Franz Ferdinand..?

  • big difference in musical styles.

menswear were a derivative cookie cutter mod inpired britpop fiasco.

franz are early 80s post punk ... think interpol .

  • yeah i can, Franz Ferdinand are talented.

  • oh and rounded jacket fronts heh

  • derivative 'mod inspired ' crap brought them redicule at the time but i'd love the phone number of johnny's tailor.

some serious , 2"lapels, 3 button , waisted , ticket pocket , centre vent , tonik mohair action goin on there !

  • To me it doesn't sound anything like the rest of britpop - well not at least anything like Blur, Suede, Pulp or Oasis. Those bands had tuneful songs, and though the vid is quite cool, the singing.. well, tuneful, it is not.

  • If you check out the Nuisance album you can hear influences from The Who, Beatles, Small faces and Sex Pistols. It's classic Britpop, moreso than Pulp ever were.

  • they were a britpop boyband, a bunch of pretty boys put together to make money. but saying that they had a couple of good tunes

  • psuedo-suede, pseudo-elastica... awful

  • what ever happened to them?

  • Johnny Dean works in a phone shop.

  • i've got to admit i quite liked menswear, even though they're supposedly the most uncoolest band ever - tis a good tune though :)

  • Britpop lives,is this not just pure magic..www.sohostrut.co.uk

  • It's great to see this again after so long!

  • Britpop Rules!!! This is one of the heavy hitters of the time
