  • Great video. I've always wanted to take a road trip down to Texas to do some backpacking and camping. Looks like some nice trail down there.

  • Late seeing this one, Get out there on the trail more and share those delicious meals you drum up so well in front of the camera... We enjoy seeing you out hiking & hanging. Nothing better than Hammock Camping.

    Thumbs-Up

  • Thanks for the video. My thought is that those hogs may be right at home in the land of Rick and W and the space weasels confirm it. LOL

  • Did you eat any bar b que sketti while out there?

  • @kyletango Yes sir... yea.. I did. I also ate loy's of red beans and rice as well.

  • Damn I am jelous of that Nature !!

  • Thanks for the video. Gonna check it out.

  • i go camping in the woods (not trail) up a little north of there in grapeland tx. but now that i saw this video ima try to go to the trail with my friend and brother. also do you have to pay or something to get it?

  • Well... in my experience the hammock is the best way to sleep ! You are right! I never use a tent any more! Great Video! see u soon!

  • Johnny Cash is the man and so are you. ;o)

    Take care!

  • You hammock converts make me laugh... in a nice way of course. They have their place but not my first choice for a good nights sleep in the woods. You'll be back in a tent soon! Thanks for shaing your experience and for making this fine vid!

  • @cyclist01222 Thanks for watching. I have'nt slept in a tent in over 6 years. Not planning on doing it anytime soon. .. well... maybe I would a few years after the Apocolypse.

  • @MrBabelfish5 Heehee. Swing on man and nice vids!

  • Great video. Aren't you afraid of being abducted by space weasels? :)

  • @Norskand67 I'm safe as long as I'm wearing my tin foil hat. Space weasels hate tin foil. :)

  • Great vids! I did that section with a buddy of mine not too long ago. I'm looking forward to the time where I can do the entire trail. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos.

  • Great video.I really enjoyed watching this video. In fact all your videos are informative and well done.

    Sandy

  • did you really have pigs run threw the area. I am from MI very few pigs here. Never seen one in the wild.

  • @tritan1 Yes I did. This area of Texas has over 2 million wild pigs. You'll usually see them at dusk and dawn in this area.

  • Great introduction to the Lone Star Hiking Trail. I'm from the Dallas area and new to hammock camping (got a wbbb a few weeks back--love it btw). Looks like a great place to try it out! does anyone ever have an organized hang in Texas?

  • Awesome vid. I just got into hammock camping and always look forward to see a hammock vid. I learn something new every time. Thanks much for sharing.

  • I really liked your video. First time watcher. Thanks. Like to see your hammock set up more. I will check out previous videos.

  • good vid, thanks for sharing. My questions are ,, how can you sleep in an area not designated for camping? or is it? don't you have to make reservations first? check in and out with the park? just curious. Because i didnt think you can just show up at a Texas State Park and spend the night without the park officials knowing.

  • @chitown1966 Excellent questions. The Lone Star Hiking Trail is not a part of a State Park. It's a part of the Sam Houston National Forrest. You can camp anywhere you want to on the trail. If you decide to show up at Lake Stubblefeild (Another national forrest camp) you would need to pay a fee to camp. Other than those areas, you can camp anywhere in the National Forrest you want to. No reservations necessary.

  • @MrBabelfish5 Except during hunting season, when you must camp at designated areas. However, when it's hunting season, I wouldn't want to be hiking out there anyway. Just dangerous for you, and an irritant for the hunters.

  • what are the PVC pipes for?

  • @agun17 It's a DIY FigRig. I use it for keeping my video camera steady when I am walking & recording with it. I can attach my camera to it and get a wider grip for steadier videos.

  • ME GUSTO MUCHO!! thanks for this great information man. and thanks for take your time on share withs us your experience with outdors. Im living in Houston and this information is very important for me. thanks again.

  • I plan on hiking this trail once hunting season is over. I have a question though...are there enough water sources on this trail?

  • @thekleinkid There are plenty. However, there are a a couple of sections that may have no water when there is a drought situation. Usually the longest you will go without a water source is about 8 miles.

  • @MrBabelfish5 My only addition would be that you'll want to have a decent water filtration system. I've had to filter some pretty nasty water a few times, and even when the creeks are running, it can be muddy, sandy, and just plain stained. I generally carry my MSR pump with the ceramic filter for the LSHT.

  • Super place to hike, from appearances. I can see why you think it's a 'hidden gem'. Lots of other great places in Texas, too, I hear. The north east corner of the state sounds like a pretty cool place, too. Thanks for sharing. My favorite video of yours so far.

  • Nice little hike.....we ride those little piggies here in Arizona!

  • Worth the wait pal ... enjoyed sharing some of the hike with you!

  • Looks like ya had a great time, full moon coming up so I am hoping to get a one nighter in, Did you make that whistle your self ?

  • @TheHowie110 No I found the whistle in Arkansas at a small mom & pop shop. The gentleman who owned the store made them. I thought it was really neat so I got it. I always carry it with me.

  • Great video. Just subscribed. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. Thanks for all your efforts. Muttly on HF.

  • Nice Job, thanks for sharing your trip

  • Great stuff :o) Wild pigs eh? Mmmm....bacon...hehe!

  • great video. we don't have to worry about wild pigs up here. i can't imagine having one hit my guyline in the night...that's cool!!

  • Enjoyed it!

  • Roaming vermisious what?!

  • @AndrewXAnarchy vemisious knids. I got that off the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

  • @MrBabelfish5 It's an amazing movie, much better than the remake (or demake). They totally change Willy Wonka from good crazy to just plain weird. And they ruined the character of Charlie. The new Charlie has big soulless eyes and can do no wrong. While the old one was just an average kid.

I've always thought the movies were 'Suessian' due to the abstract colours and shapes.

  • Great video Ya it does suck if some croup cranks something up like rap or worse Barry Manilow oops now did I think out loud lol
