@TheAlohagil ...You know it! Been watching Santana since 69, graduated from H S in 71. In San Diego, Santana has been doing concerts at SDSU since 69! Almost every other year it seems. In the old University football field was the best, you would bring in your blanket, ice chest, short lawn/beach chairs a frisby, some beer and some joints.
Then the amphitheater was cool, all good seats, But concrete ass hurt(See Sade at sdsu) Now the BIG basket ball court is used for concerts. Still smoking :)
I don't know if they are lions but, there is a pair of legs under the lion's chin. Two faces make up his brow. One face above his brow. Two make up his cheeks.
Aha... I now know why people don't dance much when you into a bar/club.. these dayaand if they do they are to laugh at,, you can't dance to music today.... there has to be rhythm.. right? Santana had and still has i...t Carlos is and always will be my hero!!.. I can hear any song they have written and I am up out of my chair not matter where I am!!
@RetroVideoFan your rihgt on,its the best, the front picture, and pariculaly the two tracks, soul sacrifice and heads hands and feet relate to sharmanism, and if you drum all the way through, medtate on the picture, while you are evry high, you to will be transported to a better place in time and space,

Read my comments concerning Samba Pa Ti by Santana. This man is not capable of making bad music! Everything he does is good, very good or great! His artistry has nothing to do with time or an era or genre. There is great music in all eras. But like a few others, Carlos produces music that is real good and remains that way, 10, 20, 40..... years later.
this song is all abouth youth experimenting with their instruments, keeping along with each other trying to stay in beat, this kind of music only comw from the heart,
all these players where in it for heart, from santana the drumer the congos etc..
these guys rocked back when.
too bad where not gonna get any closer than this, so enjoy..
anyone that remembers, old school, early seventies porn, has got to recall, that there was a lot of santana's music, used as overlay........did i say that.
@keith9849 i'm still laughing, good one. to answer your question, nope,do your own research. all i'll say is that "things" tended to be a little hairy. [in more ways than one].
oh yeah, oh yeah.. oh yeah.. oh yeah... awesome!! Love the drums on this!! one of the first songs that made me fall in love with drummers and percussionists!!
this is my first time listening to the album version,,i had always only heard the live woodstock version,,,both very nice, but i kinda dig the woodstock one a little more
Soul Sacrifice is a luscious chamber orchestral suite, an awesome sonata for guitars, organ, and percussion, the Afro-Cuba-Brazilian progressive Rock the instrumental solo genre of Santana -- It was a sea change in music at the time, even in the context of Woodstock
I saw Santana in 1973 when his whole band was intact with Chepito Areas on the drums and timbales. To this day I can relive the concert. The sight, the sound, the feeling was more than magical. It is hard to explain the feeling. But there is no other. That was a magical time, a memory that will never fade. This brings me back to the day when very talented persons graced us.
This brings a smile to my face as I remember.............. I truly am fortunate to have seen Santana live!
oh yeah... this album is one of THE best ever.... another one where I would sit and hear it over and over.. stare at that amazing cover... good times.. lol.. seriously.. :)
The best drums on here.... this album sounded so hot from day one... I mean, back in those days.. vinyl.... this was/is/ will always be one of the best albums of all time.. to me... lol... and as far as I can tell from alot of others as well... Santana... thank you.... you rock! Your band members throughout the years too ... such great talent..
@friendo15 Oh, God, were they ever. The whole thing was such a mess (in a good way, but a mess) and they were professionals with a hot job to do, and did they ever deliver!
I was on his concert here in Finland last summer and believe me, that was a real experience of a lifetime! I've never seen such an epic guitar player!!!!! OMFG I LOVED IT!
@FalcovsWolfvsFox did you notice all teh scary ass faces in the cover art? the lions cheeeks are faces, above his head is a face, below the lions head is legs, to the right theres numerous faces....wierd huh? (zoom in on teh pic to see what im talking about)
@FalcovsWolfvsFox oha nd theres a hooded death face in the middle right hand side of the lions face (right next to the right (left if your looking for which side it actually is but from the computer its on the right )cheek....fucking CREEPY!!!!
This is the version on Santana's 1st album. Original studio version, yes. Most people heard Santana initially, from Woodstock, either, in person, or the album. As such, those folks are inclined to equate Woodstock's recording as original. -- It was primarily this album that catapulted Santana into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The committee stipulated 'the original' members of Santana induction into the Hall. Many --myself included, -- consider this album the Apex of late '60's recorded music.
