  • veritas christo et ecclesiae

  • This is not to say there are not things to appeal to. Paul writes that everyone has a knowledge of God they deny. They squash. They say "what God". I don't see him. I need empirical evidence! As if that would change anything, even if one saw visual manifestations of Him. "That was a trick my brain played". The falleness of the mind is more desperate and sick then we perceive. Do rely on the grace and the Spirit of God, instead of your ability to "rationalize". Oh ya check out Cornelius Van Till!

  • @renovatio1988

"Do rely on the grace and Spirit of god, instead of your ability to "rationalize."

This is oddly revealing. How can you reason yourself out of a position you did not reason yourself into? Seriously. It is logic and reason that should be used to determine whether or not a god is likely to exist. If you dump reason and stop rationalizing, you lose your path to truth.

If you only have faith, you cant distinguish between any of the religions. You are believing what feels good.

  • It's interesting how so many here are arguing the existence of God. I do not believe that is what Piper is getting at here. It is a thinking, within the Christian life, that is founded on the principles of Scripture and seeing the implications of them. Not really apologetic. To all who pursue debating against non believers, (and pursue it you may!) do understand that the unregenerate mind will pursue a system of logic consistent with its own accepted ideas, as do you.

  • I will pass on this conference, I do not care for the "purposeful teachings" or those that would associate themselves with this kind of worldly thinking.

Beware! The purpose of Rick Warren is to destroy churches. It happened to my church and others as well.

Praying for you JP, that this veil over your heart will be lifted.

  • A person can be very well qualified academically in most fields of research, but if Christianity captures and enslaves one’s mind, then one loses direction of the path to truth.

  • I have heard it said, "If you try to void your mind, you will either get a devil, or you'll get a problem." You have eight hours to sleep at night, that's when your body needs rest. If you don't exercise your physical muscles, you lose it. Your mind is like a muscle, if you don't think for the glory of God, you'll lose your mind. God gave you your mind for a reason, so use it for his glory.

  • no...not rick warren...rick warren is a heretic!!!

  • @erjones93 how come?

  • Love GOD!!! Love your neighbor as yourself. The LAW is summed up in the GOSPEL.

  • who knew that a trailer could bring me to tears?! "Stumbled" onto this video because of great frustration with a church that I absolutely LOVE. But an overwhelming majority of ppl there *just* think about God for the sake of thinking itself. Some deep spiritual wrestling has resulted, but I love that church too much to just leave. I could not possibly have seen a better video at a better time. Thank u Dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great video! Thank you :-)

  • When can we watch this online?

  • the emerging church is satans vice against the true church. we must be aware of satans role in the church. bringing the world into the church can bring a wave of sin problems into the church.

we must pray daily for God to help this damned world.

  • The name of the song is called "Rejoice Africa!"

    - God Bless

  • @TysonPreaching Are you sure thats what its called?

  • @inquester87 That's what the name of the song with the African choir is. When he's talking about the speakers and their topics, it's a different song which I'm unsure of the name to.

  • I LOVE DG MINISTRIES!!

  • great vid...

  • @Myprovider777: old conference messages are stored online so I hope they publish these messages also onlin. See the desiringGod website, choose resource library, then conference messages and then by-conference

  • It is hard for me to come to terms with Piper inviting Warren to this conference, but Piper is trustworthy and faithful to the Bible, so it seems reasonable that he knows what he is doing.

  • @theonewholovesjesus I value piper's ministry. His work has helped me out in the military. No one knows why piper is on this sabbatical, but it's rumored that he needed to take the time off after he was seriously questioned about his decision to include Rick Warren in the conference. It alarms me because Warren is so far from sound in his doctrine, but i too will wait to see what becomes of this before i discount Pastor John.

  • Is there going to be a online broadcast of any kind for the people who don't live in MN? I am very interested in this topic. I'm a thinker. I love to think about God. I love to tap the mind of God. and all things God through Thought.

Is there any link to this wonderful conference online of any kind?

    Thank you.

  • @MyProvider777 Kindred spirits! Einstein said: I want to know God, the rest is detail...

  • WHO DOES THIS SONG??? It is so awesome!!

  • We need more Christians who can think, teach the whole counsel of God, react intelligently, defend the faith, and love others who don't yet believe. Without faith AND knowledge we will always seem like a blast from the past. There's a generation that is in desperate need of well-rounded, intellectual believers to break apart the Word. I'm thankful for those that are doing just that even now.

  • What's the name of the song? :)

  • I like this

  • I'm going!

  • rick warren in this conference... what happen here?

the heresy sharing knowledge with the truth

please somebody explain whats going on here

  • it can be explained by simply saying that youre not willing to worship God side by side by a man who has some theological differences because you think that him not being enough agreement with you as you want him to be in your theological views makes him a heretic. That means you can't simply recieve him as a brother, as a member of the Body, as the bride to the Bridegroom. That means you cant worship side by side as two God loving people accepting both of you have errors in your theology

  • In your thinking be mature and you will conclude that God does not exist. Thinking is dangerous yes, but only to beliefs held in faith. Intellectualism is the church's enemy for a reason, there is no empirical evidence that God exists.

  • Wow... very good video!!! congrats

  • Thiink and qwell all of the ignorant people. Hear and be compelled or continue whatever is is youi are up to. No need to interupt you from you individual gods

See all of you in Mn Min. Drive safely

  • Great video.

  • Well done! Praise the Lord for this ministry that has blessed so many! Thank you! The Lord bless you and all that you do for God's glory!

  • Fish to man version of evolution is NOT observable and NOT able to be shown in a single test case: populations of [rats] (pick any animal you wish) evolving over generations into (or from) animals that are clearly not [rats]. Just like hippos, giraffes, eagles and people are clearly no longer fish. Not observable, not able to be shown in a single repeatable test case: Not science.

  • okay so i want to go SOOOO BAD!!!! but i'm in michigan and am in college.. it's hard to get there, are you going to have like a DVD to purchase or anything to be able to watch all of it?????????????

  • Very well done. Very creative.

  • I wish I could attend!

  • Beautiful video

  • "Great video! Right thinking leads to right living. Right living and thinking leads to being right with God. Thank God and love him with all of your heart!"

    ~V.

  • SO I HERD U LIEK MUDKIPS...?

  • GOD FTW

  • GUYS GUYS!!! YOUR MISSING THE POINT.... where did he get the window from???

  • If you have any question about the Christian faith...it is a challenge to God. Your questioning is evidence of your knowledge, and your lack of knowledge is a result of your sin. Of course challenge Christianity. How can you be overcome by something if you dont engage in war with it? Ask difficult questions. Unanswered questions. Those which you use as an excuse not to embrace Christ. And the answer will fill that gap. Leaving you naked and bare before him. in repentance if you are his.

  • @ekimup "If you have any question about the Christian faith...it is a challenge to God." Tell him to meet me on Main Street for a duel will ya?

  • @unorthodoxJ ask him yourself. hasnt he given you a voice? genesis 32:24 God wrestles with men always. continually. Engage in this battle. Get angry with him. Accuse him. Ask him to give an account. and he'll give it to you.

  • @ekimup Yea I sent God an IM and I'm getting no response

He probably blocked me, how typical of Christains to censor

  • @unorthodoxJ Lol! your so funny. But seriously. Idk what God has in store for you. I know he came to me. Not because of how awesome i was. But just cause he wanted to. Maybe he will for you.

  • @unorthodoxJ Rofl

  • Christians, if you want to stay Christians...DON'T USE LOGIC.

  • If you ignore what the video is about its really great

This guy must hate the correlation between education and a lack of religious faith huh :)

  • I think this guy has it wrong. If you think and educate yourself you will ultimately realize that God is unnecessary. So by calling the flock to think you only harm yourself. For some are bound to realize that God isn't real and in fact does more harm than good. So instead of endorsing thought to create strong Christians you should probably stick to ignorance. =D

  • There is no God at all. Fuck you.

  • @RenegadeOfFunk00

    Is that your opinion?

  • @lu4

Yes. Otherwise, I wouldn't write it.

  • intellectualism has never attacked the church or God, it has only chosen to question things the church forces everybody to accept.

God must first be defined before one can love/serve/worship it.

And if you're talking about god of the bible then you must have a different definition for love then I.

  • wow awesome vid!!!!!! niice one :D!!!

  • I thought this was going to be a good video then it started bullshiting about religion. Wow, pathetic.

  • am i crazy if i know there is no god but still i think there is god in some twisted way? guess im brainwashed lol.

  • @vetyzd not at all :) this is what this crazy life is all about. discovering truth in any way we can. It's a spiritual battle between lies and truth. which is which? is God the lies and atheism the truth? or is it the other way round? :) take care my friend, I'm hopeful you'll find answers one day :) Peace

  • i think this is a really cool video and it really makes you wonder how we actually seperare are thinking from our worshipping. we need to think for God and loving him. we need to think right for God. :)

  • If you think about the claims of Christianity you will somehow have to reconcile the fact that a supposedly just and loving god has provided a way for many people to have a relationship Jesus while on this earth, but not all of them. During the time of Jesus and for thousands of years after, much of humanity is left out of the game because the word of jesus has to spread mouth-to-mouth. God can create the universe but he can't get the word out to everyone? THINK people!!

  • @klusmanp God isn't limited to the acts of people alone, but He does want us to play a part in establishing His Kingdom :) this is why He asks us to spread the word

  • @Sophiethefembot either that or nut-jobs want you to spread the word, like they do with Scientology and other cults

  • @Sophiethefembot You completely miss my point. Some people in this world get the joy of knowing Jesus but not all of them. ALL of the people before Jesus and MANY after him do not know him. Why are so many left out? Where is the justice in that? A just and loving god would have provided a way for ALL of humanity to know Jesus and it should not have to rely on mouth-to-mouth communication by humans. If you THINK about these simple facts then claims of Christianity make no sense.

  • @klusmanp but it doesn't RELY on word of mouth and nice pun btw lol :P

  • @Sophiethefembot Yes it does. God, being poweful enough to create the universe could have simply snapped his fingers and made all of humanity instantly aware of the message of Jesus from the very start. But no, the word of Jesus was spread by mouth-to-mouth communication from one human to the next. Thus many humans were left out. That is unjust and makes no sense. Yes, at some point the written word was involved but my point still stands.

  • @klusmanp you have a limited humanistic view of infinite power and HOLY justice. You are trying to understand thinks that right now you aren't capable of understanding, without humility and a desire to know God.

  • Comment removed

  • @bretlynn My entire philosophy is based on the humility of my own limitations. I understand that it is not possible for humans to comprehend god. But I'm sure you believe you have a more genuine connection to god through your faith and beliefs. Your desire for this is so great that you are willing to turn off your mind when the story of god provided by your religion makes no sense. Uncertainty is not that bad. Free your mind.

  • @klusmanp He basically has done what you've just described. He wrote His law on our consciences. It's being transmitted orally because that is verification of this. Also just because God doesn't do something the way you'd expect He would doesn't mean you have shown He doesn't exist, it means you've showen you want God to bow to your own standards.

  • FUCK GOD!!!!1

  • fucking christians make me sick...loving god...fuck god .and fuck the fucking christians ..yeah wtf is god going to do strike me by lighning no alrgiht than puzzys

  • @wilarico8

Learn to spell. You sound like an idiot.

  • @Dirtboy101 apparently it has done :)

  • @Dirtboy101 If you have any question about the Christian faith...it is a challenge to God.Your questioning is evidence of your knowledge, and your lack of knowledge is a result of your sin. Of course challenge Christianity. How can you be overcome by something if you dont engage in war with it? Ask difficult questions. Unanswered questions. Those which you use as an excuse not to embrace Christ. And the answer will fill that gap.Leaving you naked and bare before him. in repentance if you are his.

  • @Dirtboy101 Actually John is challenging us to scrutinize what we think and believe. His point is that without that close scrutiny our faith in God and love of God will wither and die.

  • Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.

  • @soulure Yes, I agree. The call to faith can be misused. Investigative study comparing Mormonism & Christianity is shown as a strong example. If Christ is not the author of the faith & faith is used as a cover & excuse denying proper precept & practice the results are not eternally Life-giving. When faith is properly placed we cannot exercise faith too much faith in the Author of faith. And yes, This Author calls us to love Him with both all our minds & all our hearts as worshipful obedience.

  • @soulure If you have any question about the Christian faith...it is a challenge to God.

  • @ekimup "Lack of knowledge is a result of your sin." Lack of knowledge is the result of your own unwillingness to investigate or because something is simply not known yet. It has nothing to do with sin. "Christ" is a myth and a fairy-tail for adults who willingly choose to believe unsubstantiated claims.

  • @soulure

Evolutionists have faith in fish evolving over generations eventually into hippos, giraffes, eagles and people. Not a single observation of populations of [flies] (pick any animal you wish) evolving over generations into animals that are clearly no longer what we'd call [flies]. Not science. Just beliefs.

  • @ForumLight Faith is accepting something without evidence. Science is the process of accepting something based on verifiable evidence. I didn't even mention evolution, but since you brought it up you can educate yourself by googling "phylogenetic tree for Diptera" (fruit flies). Evolution doesn't state flies changed into humans, that's your own strawman. I'd recommend Aronra's videos on evolution - they are an excellent primer on the topic. Best of luck.

  • @soulure

Science is about that which is observable and able to be shown in test cases. Fish to man evolution is not observable and not able to be shown in test cases. It's like finding a cat fossil and a dog fossil in different strata and claiming this means one evolved from the other. Pointing to homology and claiming this means one evolved from the other, and so on. No, it's yet again just a belief - the fossils are not evidence of it - only their belief is "evidence" of it.

  • @ForumLight Science is a process by which predictions are made from observations. Not all observations happen in the lab. The theory of evolution is a prediction that has withstood the test of time, DNA, genome testing, and fossil findings. But anything in science is open to debate, and if a single fossil is found that falsifies the existing theory, then the theory will be discarded. Take a look at the PBS series on evolution, Aronra's youtube channel, or take Bio101 and judge for yourself.

  • @soulure

Not true. Science is about things that can be observed or able to be shown in test cases. Not about beliefs that no one can observe and no one can show in repeatable, verifiable test cases. This is the sort of way science is being maligned by evolutionists - making kids think any belief they come up with when looking at dead bones and fossils is scientific fact even if the belief itslef is not observable and not able to be shown in a repeatable test case.

  • @ForumLight A theory is made of facts. It is a fact that the fossil record holds hundreds of transitional species even according to it’s strictest definition, and that both microevolution and macroevolution have been directly-observed. Evolution with natural selection is the only explanation of biodiversity with either evidentiary support or scientific validity.

  • @soulure

Sorry but a dead bone is a dead bone. The only "transitioning" going on is in the mind of the person that wants to claim one evolved from the other. It's repeatedly observable and able to be shown in repeatable test cases for verification that no matter how many generations go by, populations of [flies] (pick any animal you wish) only EVER evolve into more [flies], and NEVER into (or from) animals that are not flies (just like giraffes, eagles and people are no longer fish).

  • @soulure

And what they believe DNA similarity means is not an observation of that belief. Otherwise the belief that DNA similarity is because of a common designer suddenly makes DNA an observation of common design. The fact is, no origin belief can qualify as science as none of them are observable or able to be shown in test cases.

  • @ForumLight Wrong again. Google, "scientists create the first synthetic cell." A lot more has apparently happened in the lab since the last time you were there, if ever.

  • @soulure

Please cite what it is you're referring to - all I've seen in articles is how they swapped DNA strands. Thank you.

  • @soulure

When creationists point out that DNA is evidence of design, that homology is evidence of design, that life is evidence of design, that a single cell is evidence of design, and so on, evolutionists suddenly remember what science is and say "show a single observation or test case of God creating anything." Bingo.

  • @soulure

Where did flies come from? Over generations, from animals that were clearly not flies. It's not observable that popolations of [rats] (pick any animal you wish) can evolve over generations into animals that are clearly no longer [rats] (just like hippos, giraffes, eagles and people are clearly no longer fish at all). Not observable, not able to be shown in repeatable test cases: not science, but just a belief.

  • Does anyone know what song is playing in the background?

  • Please, please. Provide us with this materials!!!

  • He writes well for a lefty.

  • woah!

  • isn't this whole video ironic? thinking is what leads you away from religion

  • ...you lost me when you mentioned Rick Warren. But, I will watch and see..

  • Comment removed

  • I think there is no gods.

  • i bet his hand was cramping after filming all this. :D wish i could go :(

  • woah, this is a recent video...=D but yeah i wanna go too hehe

  • Great Trailer, looks great!

  • Wow, this video was awesome and true!

  • Nice video. Wish I could come!

  • dude, this conference is going to be beast!

  • There is no contradiction between knowledge and faith, between science and religious conviction. The problems start when religion begins to dictate the acceptance of untruth in an attempt to protect itself. If your faith is strong then new discoveries should do nothing but increase your esteem for Him.

  • @giesler78 was that really addressed with respect? I would imagine that Dr. Piper prayer for many hours before asking. He is not the kind of man who does things flippantly. I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but he most likely will never see this. So what was really accomplished. From my side of the web it just seems tacky and distasteful.

  • WOW!!! Rick Warren will be there? COOL A Wolf in Sheeps clothing. Not much discernment on your part, DR. Piper. And I always looked up to you. It's like allowing a terrorist onto a plane and saying, "Our job is to check for metal, but he can pass. Because he mentioned a few book names to me that I like." Doesn't take much to fool you than, sir. With all due respect.

  • wow

  • This floored me! Definitely looking forward to it!!!

  • awesome!
