@flippineckers It's a wooden temple block put through a stereo reverb so the block comes out on the left and the reverb tail comes out on the right speaker. I can recreate this sound exactly.
@vanocor that would be a VCF, probably on a DX7 (yamaha.) put it in perspective, of every song released in 1984, how many of them are still this endearing? i mean, people still listen to wham! for christ's sake
An ethereal tennis match.

AH I CAN HEAR THE WORDS IN PARTS WITH THAT STUPID WHIPPING SOUND
Ellerocko 7 months ago
Its not a whip to me. A whip would be higher in frequency, and more 'ragid'
A very fast moving metal blade makes much more sense, clean, homogenous.
Now...
Imagine yourself tied to the table of Edgar Allen Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum.
Its pitch black, and all you can hear is a faint whooshing sound that gets louder
and louder...
There ya go, sleep well

What the fuck is that swooping noise?
Ruins the whole song for me.

Beautiful song that stands next to 'Song To The Siren' any day!
Sadder still, no video for it, give it a listen, if you love 'Song To The Siren' you will love this also.
