  • Thumbs up if '' The Game'' brought you here

  • hippies. all of you.

  • @thelavafrawg have u ever smoked a joint in the woods?

  • @rakocyj

Yes. Fun times, yo. Still don't know how that pertains to this mediocre hipster music.

  • Is this....music? It sounds like someone is playing 5 songs all at once. Come on, look at yourselves for a second and ask yourself if you truly think this has any actual artistic merit. Ridiculous

  • @thelavafrawg Yeah because you're trance music sure has a shit ton of artistic value behind it right?

  • @gunguy999

key difference: I spent an hour on sony acid drunk making that, and put it on youtube for fun. These guys sell their bullshit to thousands of people.

  • going to get so stoned to this.

  • Awkward Silence Game's "Still" sent me here... and has been sending me here about every day. Awesome song.

  • i love justin vernons music so much. each song he has any relation to is just amazing. i also want his beard :x

  • what's the instrument he uses with his voice live!??!?! does anyone know? there used to be a video of him playing it but i can't find it anymore!

  • @rosebud2110 autotune?

  • Comment removed

  • As soon as I heard "Woods" my ears perked up xD I liked it acapella but this is good too :D

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC

  • The only thing that I don't like about this song is NOTHING.

  • I can't decide if I like Still or Woods better...

  • woods?

  • @beng301 it's not a cover because vernon chose to call it something different. that suggests to me that he considers it a different song

  • this shit sucks , what is that auto tune?! hahahahaha what the hell.

  • @mayonaisespaceboy fuck you.

  • Justin Vernon has made music so touching and i haven't heard anyone that makes more touching music then him. Fucking heavenly!!!

  • I found this song because of a game on Newgrounds.

  • Let's be clear. "Woods" was released on Bon Iver's "Blood Bank" in January of 2009. Later, in September of that year, "Still" was released on "Unmap" by Volcano Choir. Kanye's "Lost in the World" which samples "Woods" was released in late 2010, almost an entire year AFTER the earlier recordings. Justin Vernon composed or was involved with all three versions, meaning Kanye was the only person "covering" or sampling anything.

  • @camlecrone by that logic the fact that Justin Vernon was also involved with Kanye Wests Version, Kanye is also neither sampling nor covering the song...

  • @camlecrone Wait, what? I believe Vernon rerecorded "woods" for kanye, and he definitely added backup vocals and harmonies.

  • @MrPetwor No, this song existed first. Kanye called up Justin Vernon asking if he could sample it. He then asked if Justin would come to the studio and show him his techniques for his unique way of auto-tuning. Vernon ended up being on half of the tracks on the album, as well as being on Watch the Throne. There's a really great article about it on Vulture.

  • Hey cool he covered that Kanye West song.

  • @sHART1780

    I love you so much.

  • @sHART1780 Lol, thats a joke right?

  • @mikestheman2b actually it was a joke... that apparently no one got because of all the thumbs down. oh well.

  • @sHART1780 I didnt think you were serious.. xD I guess humor isnt these peoples strongpoints. Haha

  • @beng301 I'm just going to say that I saw Volcano Choir live last night. I went in having never listened to Volcano Choir and knowing very little of Bon Iver. The encore was this song. It was more than a stunning performance. It shook my whole body and was powerful like nothing else. Kanye has nothing on this group.

  • I can picture a funeral to this.

  • @beng301 okay...it isn't really a cover...Volcano Choir is one half bon iver and one half collections of colonies of bees: justin vernon is PART of the band. And this is simply wonderful, much better than kanye who needs bon iver to make him a decent musician.

  • @beng301 How can you not be impressed by this?

  • @Cadavaris I had an orgasim.

  • I had an epiphany while listening to this

  • @Cadavaris Agreed.. I listen to this song and My mind just.. Goes.. you know? You understand things listening to stuff like this...

  • one person is obviously paralyzed from the ears down

  • ZOMGGGGGG KANYE WEST SAMPLED THISSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

  • @flesheater20 no, he sampled Woods - Bon Iver. this song came out after. but yeah, pretty much the same :)

  • @Shpanx95 lol yea i figured that out a few minutes later -__-. i is slow

  • @flesheater20 Kanye West sucks. Stop listening to shit music.

  • @ClNNAMON Get over yourself.

  • in love tonight.

  • Actually Woods is a remake of THIS song, Justin Vernon composed both of them.

  • @saltslick no, Woods by Bon Iver came out in 2007. This came out in 2009. Kanye West's version (sampling BON IVER) came out in 2009 as well. Woods is the original.

  • @Shpanx95 Kanye's came out this year...

  • love them re-doing bon iver's woods....sooo gooood!!

  • @shamallamadingdong2 Justin Vernon was in both Bon Iver and Volcano Choir, it's the same guy, just re working his songs

  • @zackpennachi yeh i know...got the bon iver cds....a justin vernon solo cd....and even some of his stuff from when he was with deyarmond edison...just recognizing the awesome re-vamp.

  • it's ' still' isn't it? a play on words.. still.. slow... getting messed up on moonshine and dropping out of time.

  • Holy shit. This is sick.

  • HEY! I was watching Skins the other day, and I remember hearing a song that I thought was really beautiful, but I couldn't find out what it was called. Then a week later I'm listening to a great band on youtube and I stumble across this! I recognized it in seconds.

  • @freakystylntime The actual song is Woods, by Bon Iver. This song uses it with different backing.

  • T-Pain meets Bon Iver? Cool....

  • its not auto-tune.

  • @boofieman it definitely is...

  • @DDUP101 Honest there is a difference. If you listen to all of his songs he never uses it and nor doe she need to. Its just a way of synthing his voice.

  • @boofieman Of course it is, very deliberatley used and obvious.

  • @Carmo100 It is deliberate but it is not auto-tune. It just makes the voice sounds all electric.

  • @boofieman i agree .. i 1st thought it was but then realized its def more of a harmonizer / vocoder type thing ;p

  • Is he building a still or a sill??

  • @Rach443 Still. I'm petty sure. When you listen to the original (Woods by Bon Iver) then you can hear him a little better. I don't know what it means though.

  • @xSPACEMANSPIFFx Thank you! Neither of them make any sense to me so i couldn't figure it out. And if you look up the lyrics, it says sill. So i dunno... it's a dilemma. I wish i could ask him lol

  • @Rach443 So, I heard from somewhere that a "still" is some kind of device that's used to make home made alcohol. Moonshine and whatnot. I don't know how accurate that is but if you stick it into the song it kinda makes sense. Elementary my dear Wattson. Yet another mystery solved. ;]

  • @xSPACEMANSPIFFx That's helpful, thanks! :)

  • I think everyone agrees that the original "Woods" was far better.

  • @Crescendoe i thought so the first time i listened to this, but it grew on me and and now i much prefer 'still'.

  • Bon Iver is gold, and so Justin Vernon singing means this song can't be horrendous. However, for me the instruments just don't quite seem to work.

  • MAKES ME SO HAPPY.

  • auto tune? sounds cool

  • Oh this is epiicccc. I mean obviously the original is a fucking masterpiece in and of itself, but this is just as fucking beautiful.

  • Justin from Bon Iver is in Volcano choir. you would know that if you thought it was the most amazing song ever.

  • It sounds like I'm listening to two songs at once, and each are only tangentially related to each other.

The original had so much emotion.

  • The original Woods was breaking and soaking with emotion, it was almost too much, like taking a peep into someone's mind within a mind and baring the core of it when you're not even sure you want to - disturbing and feverish and mesmeric and alluring and stunning, stunning.

    Who agrees?

  • ahh, the orginal was much better. i didnt like the frequency for 2 minutes at the beginning either.

  • An absolute NO to this version of Woods. Like seriously, NO, the original by Bon Iver is actually the most beautifully written song, and has no instruments for a reason! This has just totally killed the most amazing song in my life.

  • Chill out you melodramatic fuck.

  • Comment removed

  • chill, this IS Bon Iver but with a band, this one clearly has instruments for a reason

  • @nadsolive Not exactly.

  • nope, this has enhanced it for sure.

  • Justin the lead singer from Bon Iver is in Volcano Choir. He helped make this song. You would know that if you thought Woods was the most amazing song.

  • @tabOhCRUNCH lol snap!

  • me encanta.

  • beauty.

  • I prefer this than Woods,, maybe just because of the opening,.

  • This is so cool because Woods is like one of my favourite Justin Vernon / Bon Iver songs and i totally love this new music behind it, it changes the whole style of the song! I prefer Bon Iver - Woods though :) I think the lyrics are amazing on their own :D

  • @lalalaaemily a few more might be nice :)

  • I am glad that they out music to this track.

  • woods-bon iver?

haha either way i am IN LOVE both bands

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooodstimeinfinity

  • Favorite song!!!

  • It sounds as if SIgur Ros, Explosions in the Sky and Bon Iver all had sex and out popped this weird franken-music baby called Volcano Choir

  • @dphill33 wow, just named my three favorite bands there haha

  • @dphill33 thanks for the image lol

  • @dphill33 its exactly like if pele and bon iver had sex....

  • i'm from wisconsin, and i think its kinda weird that this sound came outta wisconsin. song is great

  • Does the album cover remind anyone of the film 'the village'?

  • yess lol just what i was thinking

  • that's all i can think about looking at it

  • @E3tiger that's the safe colour

  • @E3tiger yes. it creeps me out.

  • @E3tiger except The Village sucks ass and M. Night Shamalamaslama's terrible movies should never be associated with awesome music such as this.

but yes. it kind of does.

  • k i'm sorry i really like bon iver but this whole album sounds like they got some new instruments and took a bunch of acid, i don't particularly like it but i don't really like it either.

  • i agree. i love bon iver but i just can't really get into this album. not that big on instrumental music

  • hahahahah... you don't like it or particularly like it? Check yo grammar son! I kind of agree, parts of it are nice but It really sounds like they got high as balls and over-experimented with their songs.

  • @Awesomesauces

    no, you are wrong.

    this song is amazing.

  • I never said it wasn't any good. Honestly I prefer the original bon iver version, but this is still and interesting take on the song. This album as a whole however, is far from concisely written. I would never recommend someone spend $10 on it ever. Illegally download?...maybe.

  • this is actually a beautiful album in my opinion. the sound design and composition are rich and provide a great harmony bed for a beautiful melody, in this case the singer. Buy your music. artists need to make a living to. :)

  • goregeous

  • Justin Vernon remixed this song on his Bon Iver- Blood Bank CD. It's entitled "Woods", and it was used on the TV show Skins. A hauntingly beautiful song...

  • bon iver is not retired. Justin Vernon started making some songs with some other band, who's name escapes me, and they ended up with a bunch of songs.

  • "collections of colonies of bees". they've been working on this record since before the whole "bon iver" thing was even an idea in Justin's head. they grew up in Wisconsin together.

  • @pollywrath gayings

  • This is just another version of "Woods" off of Bon Iver's Blood Bank EP. 'tis a beautiful song

  • yes you r right

  • I can't seem to find any information on this group? Can some one please either direct me to where I can learn of what it is composed of, or inform me through this means?

    Thank you very much.

  • It's a side project of Bon Iver featuring Justin Vernon and the musicians from his live band. Amazing.

  • Thanks.

  • beautiful
