  • For anyone that is confused:

    F650GS is a twin, 800 cc

    G650GS is a single - 650 cc

    The old F650CS was a single, 650cc

  • Looks good but I have heard the seat is not very comfortable? We're looking for a couple of light weight bikes for a 4000+ mile trip next May. At the moment it's between the BMW and the Kawasaki Versys. I'm leaning toward the Kwacker myself but I have my wife to consider and this will be her first big bike after passing her test. Might grab a test ride on the BMW and see how it goes.

  • fellow motorcyclists, don't be surprised by misleading model names, bmw have been calling 2.2 engined cars 2.0's for a long time now. it wasn't going to be long until they started doing this with bikes too.

  • Drove this bike as my first bike , as a 'first short bike lesson' .. drove really smooth , like it (y)

  • Great bike but by god what poor commentary. How many ers did you say??. Sorry but you ruined that.

  • @mazdaman1980 saying eh er etc is normal linguistics. The eh's and er's are put in by the speaker as filler words to maintain continuity.

For example, in normal conversation a pause means its the other persons turn to speak, consious of this, a solo speaker will fill gaps with er's and ehh's to fill the gaps as they intend to continue the narrative.

  • This is not a nice bike....

  • Thinking of buying the F650gs for my Cape Town - Cairo trip. Rather then the 800? The thing is 798 cc, but cheaper and easier to ride...

  • @friedredfish that depends more on your experience and road conditions

  • This bike is better than the F800GS and I'll tell you why. You still have an 800cc engine with a tonne of torque and power but yet its a much smoother delivery of that power and thus easier to control off road, in towns, filtering etc. It has a lower seat height which is perfect for anyone under 6 foot tall. It has a better centre of gravity and thus easier to manage at low speeds and take corners. Its also better on fuel, its cheaper to buy and maintain. This is the GS I'd go round the world on

  • I want one, getting one next summer hopefully

  • how fast is this bike please, about 200 km/H?

  • Go for a Fireblade or a Hayabusa, they are what you want.

  • It's about 180km/h, so plenty fast enough

  • Looks wise I think prefer the older models.

  • i own several bmw's k1200lt thru r1100s my wife is starting to ride so i demo'd this bike for her - impressive . the new twin has an exceptionally smooth powerband and rideability - perfect for beginning riders , w/ plenty of room to grow as they progress in their skills . big thumbs up

  • Calling someone a dumbshit...and not spelling it right. Classic. STFU, tool.

  • I found one of these for $3,400...should I jump on the deal?

  • Depends on what year, milage... condition... Etc... but yes... I would look into it.

  • fuck yes

  • Its nice but pricey,kawasaki 650 is a 5500 dollars,6 gallon tank,every thing except ABS[which I do like]The Kawa 650 has 20 years of development work behind it,so which is better?

  • BMW is another level bike. No matter how you compare it, you can put it against versys, transalp or V-Strom 650. It'll win, sorry.

  • BMW

  • I invite you guys to join the group "Moto Adventure" in Facebook ....

  • thanks for the info, i just signed up!

  • i wish I'd ordered mine in blue now....

  • I bought mine today. I took the silver but I have an option until this friday to change my mind. the only problem is if I order the blue one(cause i'm not sure yet) I have to wait 2 months to get it. I could get the blue one next week but it has no ABS system....Don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

  • The silver looks 100 times better in real life but the blue is good too.

I didnt get the ABS as i didnt like how snappy it was on the test ride. I rode mine all through the winter, in snow, rain hail etc and never had any problems (apart from low quality fasteners in places) Personally, if i preferred blue, id save myself 500quid and ditch the ABS

  • Thanks fro the reply . I think you are right . I'm going with the silver , it does look nice in real and when I,ll add on some equipment on it it'll look even better. As for the ABS , I'm an old school rider and never used ABS . It's actually 850$ CND more so I'm thinking I can get something really nice for that price. Hmmmmm I still have time to think. THx

  • Picked up my bike today....WOW what a ride ...

  • I'll be mine!

  • (¯`v´¯)Bike(¯`v´¯)

    800ccm ;)

  • The F650GS definitely has the same capacity as the F800GS but as the video shows it has been detuned etc. Any references to 650cc on websites are referring to the previous model.

  • Hi All,

I've bought one, (a F650GS) here in Belgium (Europe) last week and will have a go at it tomorrow :-)

After looking at my official insurance papers, I noticed that I'm insuring a 798CC engine...a twin cylinder engine....

I'm not used to driving motorbikes...only Vespa 200cc machines...driving these things for miles and hours at a time...just to get to scooter meetings...says it all actually...

    Tomorrow 's another day!!!

    Cheers,

    Ive

  • The CURRENT 650 GS on the USA website is indeed a 650 cc single... However if you look at the European (German) BMW Motorrad website, you will see that the NEW F 650 GS does indeed have 798 ccm dislacement, just like the F 800 GS (and two cylinders as well).

  • I don't know where you guys get your info. You're not the first person I've heard say it's an 800cc but when I look on the BMW website it says 652cc. It might be the same frame or the same engine block or something, but the displacement is not 800cc, it's 650 just like the name suggests.

  • so basically, i cant ride this '650' on learners.

  • the v strom 650 it is more fast from the bmw?

  • it's got an 800 engine, why call it a 650 then?

  • Marketing

  • Both the BMW 328 and 335's have 3.0 liter engines rather than a 2.8 and 3.5. The latter, however, is twin-turbocharged. The displacement isnt always reflected in the name.
