I'm sure as you know now the UK parlimentary elections have being reduced to nothing more than the equivelent to a town hall election. We are now Governed by 27 'unelected' members of the EU commission ( a dictorship ) & according to EU law this will be the very last parlimentary election in the history of the UK. But our budding potential leaders forgot to mention it !!! check it out ?
3.5% growth is good, but not when you have shrunk by over 6%... Especially when a lot of that growth is the markets fluctuating with the polls and looming election based upon a Tory win. So good for the Conservatives to claim that mate.
@Sillysod The 3.1% prediction has nothing to do with who will win the election. It follows CURRENT policies and market trends, as well as year on year monthly statistics.
It's not a 'hole in their policy to protect the funding of the NHS, because if you would have looked into their manifesto in more detail, they will still be looking to save money in efficiency, spending the remainder on things like cancer drugs which have been otherwise refused for the lack of money.
"When it comes to public spending, Labour is being Conservative" Conservative to mean keep spending more than we have?
If you lose public sector jobs, with efficiency savings (hate new-speak words), in theory cutting wasted money, you are not losing money from the real economy.
The public sector does not generate revenue for a country. Putting up Taxing jobs in the private sector will cost the economy money and so will prohibit further growth and recovery.
@Sillysod Thanks for the comment. I plan to talk about the conservative manifesto in more detail in my next video. It'll hopefully be up tomorrow. Oh, and by 'public spending' I meant 'spending cuts'. Mixed my words around abit.
the conservative theory i believe is that a smaller state and cuts will allow the economy to grow fast of its own accord rather than stumbling along with big government. Brown seems to want all power and responsablility and wont like a parent letting a child grow up allow the state to grow up and be independant.
@judas21 AND if you read the article that he posted in the description, you'd see that thanks to Labour, we are set to grow faster than all our neighbours
@ColtRCT3 1. I'm not denying that the GLOBAL recession was worldwide, but Britain faired comparatively worse because we've pandered to the financial sector (low corporate tax etc). Germany has emerged as a European powerhouse and the UK look ill.
2. Growing faster after a recession is not always a good thing. In fact it is probably a bad thing. We may be on the cusp of a double-dip recession or reigniting boom and bust economics, and with Darling on the purce-strings I am not confident.
@judas21 The recession was a worldwide thing that didn't start in the UK let alone at the hands of Gordon Brown. Did Gordon Brown cause Lehman Brothers to collapse? No- GB doesn'tcontrol global markets. Our economy is very much based on banks and finance so as a country we were hit badly in comparison to our neighbours. If GB is a bad leader, then we would have gone the way of Greece or Iceland.
well I have always been fallower of Libaral , mainly becouse I look back at history Convervitive & Labour & it isn't good in the 1960s Labour gave the go ahead to build tower blocks which a fire hazards & death traps there was the closur or the railways in 1969 many towns like Leigh are with out rail network the tories closed down the pits in 1992 I have long list but it would take forever, so have desided to vote for Libdem
- Tory cuts are through efficiency savings, not spending cuts.
- You're telling me that it's a coincidence that Brown has been Prime Minister during one of the deepest and longest recessions of the post-War era? He was responsible for the UK economy in the decade preceding the recession and responsible for the country as a whole during it. That does not sound like coincidence.
Fact: Only 1 MP had the guts to predict the recession: Vince Cable. Nuff Said.
