  • They really had no choice to shut up and listen with her ferocious voice, big ups to her for dealing with that many people jeering her.

  • it's a shame cos i reckon her version of i believe io you woulda been one of the showw

  • he has kept me alive too for over 50 years

  • I just realized how BOB DYLAN this moment in history was.

  • That audience ruined her original performance, but her reaction was very intelligent. Loved her performance even if it was a bit rushed.

  • If I were to guess, she stood there taking the abuse from the crowd to build the rage within before unleashing. Sinead is bad ass and there's nothing wrong with raising a little hell.

  • I love this mucisians!!!! She proclamed the problems of the katholick church. About peadophilia with (young) children. So in Holland the catholic church must confess. I hope in England, and so in Ireland and in America too, must confess there faults. Thumps up if you agree!!! Greetings from a reformed person, who do not believe in peadophilia in primary scools and also in churches. Thith is not Gods will...

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SINEAD FOR HER COURAGE AGAINST SOOO MUCH IGNORANCE!!! She is a true hero for being able to stand her ground! Truth always prevails and time has proven her to be RIGHT!

  • I love her!!!!!!

  • fucking religion

  • schlitzie jabber said it better

  • People are led by the media.

She stood alone, she was vilified in the media, she stood as a lone voice.

She was right, she has been vindicated after all.

She is releasing a new album in February, I hope she receives a truly just and opposite reaction to this everywhere she plays in this world.

She is a beautiful singer and a beautiful person.

  • She just so over the top with her stupid extremism and "ROOOOIT OOOCTEEVEEESOM", it gets on nerves.

  • "Don't let the bastards get you down."

  • Folks who believe in freedom of speech should admit that people are free to boo Sinead.

  • Her career never really recovered from the shameful action of having ripped up a picture of the Pope on live TV. Her anger was misplaced, and she drew anger towards herself. She knew what she was doing. She paid the price.

  • "You know it's not even safe no more in the palace of the Pope", Bob Dylan sang in 1983. In 1997 Bob Dylan performed for Pope John Paul II. Sinnead O'Connor was booed at the Dylan tribute concert because she had recently torn a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live. It's debatable that Dylan approved of her action. Too bad Sinnead had such thin skin. Dylan was often booed and he survived.

  • @ZAGGLETON 'had such thin skin'. fuck you very, very much. thousands of people booing you on stage, i doubt anyone wouldn't be shook from that.

  • She is so beautiful, so brave, so strong yet vulnerable and SO RIGHT. -3

  • Endless respect for this woman, who may be the bravest artist of her generation (and since?). All the cries of "controversial" can't hide the fact she lives her personal integrity instead of making it a sound bite, and has never backed down, even when it cost her career advancement. This is what real heroes look like.

  • SHE IS SO FUCKING RIGHT!!!

  • F*%ING SHIT "AUDIENCE"!!!! TEA PARTY??????

    RESPECT FOR SINEAD!!

  • She seemed like rlly pissed at the audience. It looks like her emotions took over her singing. This was more like a rant. I think she just wanted to get it over with...

  • An artist that doesn't provoke a reaction is not really very useful.

  • well thats the supression by the ruling class for ya, shuoldn't exist in the first place, hieracys are alright, i'm happy with working, middle and upper as they serve a purpose, but i'm only happy if they work together i.e. no pomposity, no i'm better than you, and no orders. we're all equal, we just have things to give us ambition, or amazment and hope, i see a man driving past in a bently, i think wow some day, the man in the bently sees me in a ford, he thinks back to his old ford fiesta

  • As someone who was there, I recall that the cheers for her were at least as numerous as the jeers. It was too bad she chose to listen more to those who disapproved than to those of us who applauded.

  • @4001jk How dare you say that about this gifted artist you should be banned from posting on youtube and to never be able to have an account on here as well

  • @4001jk

she is not the charch was like that ans still

  • Freedom of speech took a beating that night??

To the contrary, I hear ten thousand voices expressing themselves freely here.

  • @imanacer

thank god feedom of speech prevails

  • So ummmm, let me get this straight. people actually booed someone who speaks of social unrest at a concert honoring someone who spent his whole life singing about....well...social unrest.

How much more more stupid can people on this planet possibly get.

  • half the crowds cheering and half the crowds jeering and booing..more or less lol

  • damn, i was shocked by the whole thing.

if i'd been in Bob's shoes, i would've force the audience to shut the hell up, apologize to her and let her sing "I believe in you".

no one can stand that sort of negative soundwave, especially not that fragile girl.

didn't know that non-russians (unlike me, as i am) are capable of such disrespect to an artist and foremost, to Bob.

  • I'm a strong believer in Jesus Christ.

And so it makes me really sad, seeing so many people expressing so much hate for this woman. Especially "christians", who should (according the their believes) LOVE their "enemys" and not hurt them.

As a christian u should confront her with an open and loving heart and not causing so much additional pain for a single soul.

She clearly underestimated the mass/media stupidity. Sadly.

And I believe she is a person with strong believes and a good heart.

  • i feel bad for her but she was the one who ripped up the picture of the pope

  • @PopLuverGal She did that because he was part of the cover up of the sexual abuse of children by the priests of the catholic church. She did that before it had become so well known. If she did that just a few years ago instead of 15 years ago, she would've gotten a lot more support I'm sure.

  • @PopLuverGal I'd do the same for someone who sits on his high horse behind golden walls, cruises down the street in a bubble, and wheres a garb that would make Jesus cringe. That is one self righteous human being if I ever saw one. this world doesn't need a pope, it needs a reality check.

  • This was painful to watch. Freedom of speech took a beating that night, and I'm ashamed for whoever was in the audience and booed. All of them.

  • I say WAR!

  • It took great courage. To make the extreme statement in the way that she did by ripping apart the image of the pope. As all the sex abuse scandal with the catholic church was front and center. She was delivering a wake up call. The general public however missed the fucking point. Kudos.. to you Sinead, and it was wonderful what Kris Kristofferson did and said.

  • she made a political protest against child abuse and she's booed for it? wow, those people must love child abuse, sick perverts

  • @onemistressshort Very well said onemistressshort. Very, very well said.

  • @onemistressshort She was booed because a lot of people are arrogant and don't like to hear the truth.

  • She's so incredibly strong. Beautiful to see - and at the same time saddening how freedom of speech is being attacked.

  • The reaction of the American media and a lot of the American public in general to her SNL appearance was incredibly pitiful. Americans seem to be all for freedom of speech until they hear something they don't agree with.

  • @hungetkunstler As an American, I can say that's absolutely true. It's a childish state of affairs in the USA.

  • @peterdolson - great observation! you must be a leading intellectual on the state of American affairs, I am sure you have given this tremendous thought and have written about it extensively, right?

I mean you would'nt be just another American who tries to appease europeans by apologizing for America's behavior would you? you know, the soft headed type who thinks euros respect you for slamming your country - perhaps someday, when you get smarter, you will understand you they don't

  • @mollkatless Thanks for illustrating my point.

  • @hungetkunstler - brilliant observation! I don't agree with the crowd's behavior & I feel confident this would not happen in the US today

having said that, perhaps you could explain to me how freedom loving brits would react to me if I were a uk citizen of pakistani descent, and I suggested to a bunch of soccer (proper name) hooligans that the uk should relax immigration requirments? would I only be booed? or would I have my head kicked in?

get your own house in order before commenting

  • Maybe the best video I have ever seen...what balls!!

  • So it seems she was about singing something else and switched to "War" as a reaction to the booing... Now this girl had some balls...

  • I love you, Sinead.

  • konkretna

  • an this is bob marley and perhaps marcus garvey tribute too

  • she voiced her protest on SNL. The fans voiced theirs here. She made her bed and she had to sleep in it.

  • And after that, she has still managed to carry on and fight the good fight..Fighting the real enemy!!!!!

  • How ironic that Bob Dylan "fans" booed Sinead O'connor. A woman using her voice and songwriting to bring about global change---- and if they had heard how she said Dylan kept her alive.... She has a lion's heart. She blazed the path for women musicians and beyond... a humanitarian....

  • Well done Sinead and Kris - God bless you both..

  • she recived a lot of crap for no good reason....

  • @JSEBCKGC She did. I for one was really misinformed about what she was protesting, and it wasn't easy to find the truth. People kept writing it off as a Catholic vs Protestant thing, which never made sense since she's Catholic. I didn't even know she'd been imprisoned in a Magdalene laundry until a couple years ago.

  • The Apocalypse is coming, so soon, two days forthwith, Saturday, May 21, 2011.

I hope that you are prepared to meet your Maker(s). You are. And it would be LOVE if I could be there with you. I would kinda like to meet your parents if they are still alive, or if they are not, the Spirit of them in YOU.

You are yet an inspiration, a courageous fool for this foolish old man.

    My blessings!

  • goosebumps

  • Man, I wish I had been there during that time, and that I had been a guest at that show. I would have slandered that crowd until they walked out from getting tired of hearing me.

  • iloveyou Sinead

  • Creo que si no era por ella, lo valiente que fue, nadie se atrevió a dar la cara de esa manera, no se hubiera hecho nada referente a su protesta, hoy recién empece a leer algo de ella y la verdad, espectacular.

  • She was right. I love you.

  • YEAH MOTHERFUCKERS! SHE WAS THE FIRST ONE OUTHERE TO Speak about the priest raping children around the world....SHE WAS the first one to go public about it! she had the balls!

  • wow, this baying mob sounds like a "Tea Party" convention. And Sinead pwned 'em. And Sinead was right years before these sanctimonious hypocritical morons finally found out about the pedophile priest scandal.

  • Secondo me gli spettatori erano tutti preti!!! I LOVE YOU SINEAD!!!!!!!!!

  • @Razzagnolo Te lo dice un Italiano...

  • what the fuck happened there??? why do they hate her???

  • The US-A military superpower, an economy richer than most, but a backward boorish crowd here that treated a singer who tried to raise the issue of abuse by the religious in Ireland by cutting off the snake's head, with narrow minded derision. She has been proven right and should be praised for her stance!

  • I go to concerts for entertainment, if she got issues go speak at a college

  • I HATE bob dylan because of this....what his "fans" did to Sinead.....he did nothing.

    He sucks.

    Some protest singer, eh.

  • @lipupfatty1295 Friend, Bob Dylan has always denied EVER being a protest singer.

  • I feel so sorry for her. That was so brave and cheers to Kris for comforting her.

  • does any one know whether Dylan him self did something about what happened to Sinead that time?

  • she reminds me of Joan of Arc here...so strong, beautiful yet fragile. She's facing down lions with grace and bravery unknown in Hollywood or music industry now

  • what a disgrace (the audience, not her)

  • @smarfling

that doesn't need to be clarified..

  • Very much agree with user: "thepervertigo's" comment below: people and countries with hypocrisies and double standards should recognize their own. (and I'm no one to speak.)

  • Man that lady's got BALLS. Years later, look at all the child abuse stories with the catholic church-- and that's only what you DO know-- imagine what you DON'T know!!

  • What a bunch of pricks!

    Sinead you are a saint!

I wish there were more people like YOU!

  • @LeLee76 you do know in '92 she ripped up picture of the pope during war, when she said "evil" she held it up ripped it and said "fight the real enemy"

  • Kudos to Kristofferson for embracing O'Connor after her extraordinary performance and defiance of the mob mentality that awaited her. What a great and kind man.

  • O'Connor's act was very foretelling of the exposure of the child abuse scandals that would associate the Catholic Church with thousands of crimes against children. O'Connor demonstrated tremendous courage in her actions. There is no doubt she has been proven right.

  • ...NICE HUMAN BEING BEFORE A HUGE MASS OF TYPICAL AMERICAN MORONS....

Usa, those who killed by guns/bombs, couldn't stand someone ripping the pope's image.

Useless dumb stupid assholes, u'll always be so...

  • @ThePERVERTIGO The pope is Italian.

  • @ThePERVERTIGO Actually, he's German. And the last one was Polish. never had an American pope.

  • I really admire her for doing what she did!

  • I really don't see what the big fucking deal was that everyone hated her

so she ripped up a picture of the pope but it was a symbolic gesture saying that something needed to be done about pedophilia and abuse

I applaud this lady for sticking to her beliefs and I agree with the song too

pretty sad that my country booed her and turned her into comedy material

  • Poor Sinead.... those who jeered had no respect. Also it's ironic that Sinead sang War by Bob Marley instead of a song by Bob Dylan...still I feel bad for Sinead..

  • the people who jeered are a bunch of fucking assholes!

i admire sinead for her courage and strength among those who are ignorant of child abuse having endure child abuse from my "dad"

  • This reminds me Dylan in Newport Festival 1965, the crowd was in chaos as well.

  • Hello, my name is William and I was there at the Bob Dylan tribute concert that night. This video doesn't show well enough how loud, nasty and lusty the booing was when Sinead took the stage. I am surprised she was able to perform any songs much less the one she did do. I'm with festyosemtex on this one. Total agreement. I estimate that I was the only one not booing that night. I knew where she was coming from. And the masses DO owe her a big apology. She has a great voice.

  • Sinead ripped up a photo of the Pope on SNL as a protest against paedophilia in the Catholic Church and the complicity of the church hierarchy. It was viewed as an act of career suicide. Steamrollers crushed 100s of her CDs to huge cheers from protesters. She was laughed at, derided and parodied on both sides of the atlantic as an uptight feminist nutcase.

Now, knowing what we now know about the church,

isn’t Sinead O’Connor overdue a massive, grovelling apology from absolutely everybody?

  • i have such respect for sinead, it takes real guts to stand up to a crowd like those at the bob dylan tribute concert and still stick to her guns! :)

  • she looks such a warm human :)you can feel it coming from her.:)

  • fuck that faggot bitch pope. fucking wanker touching kids' penises. fuck you catholics too. youre shit. your religion is shit.

  • @oblongfan1

YOU - IM TOO IGNORANT TO UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW OF LIFE SO ILL JUST HIDE IN MY LITTLE HOLE AND SHOUT OBSCENITIES AT IT TILL IT GOES AWAY!!

REST OF WORLD - FUCK YOU AND GROW UP YOU COMPLETE KNOB JOCKEY!!!

  • why they didnt let her sing? im a little uninformed

  • "fight the real enemy"

  • She kinda deserved it? No she didnt, later we all learned what those catholic preist were doing for to many years with popes lookin the other way

  • Comment removed

  • @UnbeatTim42

It was just a picture it's not as if she killed the Pope...Besides it turns out that she was right!

  • Great performance by a brave Artist. Beautiful spirits always are attacked by evil. Thanks for posting the Video. Bob Marley smiled when Sinead sang His Song.
  • @sdflksdfkfh shut the fuck up your mom is the dumb bitch for making you.and i bet she reacted the same way when u poped out her ass.....dumb shit!

  • Grande è grintosa,Ti Amo Sinead

  • i am a catholic...my uncle is a catholic priest...and I cant help but wonder if catholics realize how their minds have been raped, like the mob shows and the billions of dollars to hide their hypocrisy reveals. such sick and fake indignation is the true result of the idol whore-shipers [sic] that presently love their benedick!

  • @oakonner GO CRY TO GOD hahahahah CAUSE HES GETTING IT IN THE BUTT

  • @WrxSti04 it appears your father made you with his finger, as your comment has about as much meaning as your uninformed life. still, i hope you are getting on well under your bridge with the other trolls.

  • @oakonner hahahahah GO TO SCHOOL AND GET A EDUCATION DONT GO PRAY CAUSE DID PRAYING WIN ANY WAR'S O WAIT IT DIDT IT CAUSED THEM!!!!!!

  • I fell in love Sinead!

  • I have been in Madison square garden, I loved her that night. And I wish I had ever a chance to hear her sing Dylans songs like I believe in you

  • I admire her so much!!!

  • @tonyblackops THIS GUY IS IGNET

  • I have a lot of respect of Sinead O"Connor. My Enlisch are quite as well, because I am from Holland. Ms. O'Connor shewed a great kind of emotion, I like it very much. If you now she had not a beautiful life she was a child. In 1992 she destroy an picture of pope John the second because in the fifthy's (1950 until 1955) the priestst in the catholic church have sex with young (catholic) boys. RESPECT FOR THIS WOMAN!!!!!

  • I have a lot of respect of Sinead O"Connor. She shewed a kind of emotion, I like it very much. If you now she had not a beautiful life she was a child. In 1992 she destroy an picture of pope John the second. RESPECT FOR THIS WOMAN!!!!!

  • I have a lot of respect of Sinead O"Connor. She shewed a kind of emotion, I like it very much. If you now she had not a beautiful life she was a child. RESPECT FOR THIS WOMAN!!!!!

  • may I have this much courage once in my life.

  • Yes..Time proved her right. All those who scoffed and abused her for her Stance against the rotten Catholic pedophiles and officials who protected them have all melted into their holes in the ground.

  • she is really to be admired!!!

  • that was amazing, she is the one, what a way to shoot the bounch of ignorants, we need more ppl like her, me encantaria que fuera conocida en paises con diferentes idiomas, no solo por la religion pero tambien por los gobiernos, siempre habra alguien que se sienta superios a los demas, pero siempre habra un espiritu como el de ella que le de el bajon... long live SINEAD O'CONNOR . . . you got a place in heaven for opening the eyes of many, GOD ISN'T A RELIGION

  • why did those religious nuts go to Bob Dylan Tribute concert in the first place...

  • Isn't this Bob Marley's song. Good for her.

  • sinead kicks ass

    what a big soul

    you go girl!

  • Disgusting hive-mind of America believing anything they see and hear.

  • To think that if she had done something like this today she would have have been supported by all the evidence that has been put forward in recent years just goes to show how right she was for condemning the Catholic church. Here is an artist standing alone against ignorance.

  • To see this courageous warrior, a real artist, putting her life on the line, booed at a Bob Dylan concert is so disgusting and a mirror held in front of America. It sickens me to see her abused in the so called land of the free. What a strong artist. All artists should put themselves on the line and take advantage of the spotlight and stage they occupy, just like this little Irish woman did. I for one am so proud of her.

  • God, I am so pissed off right now. There is war, I say, and there is War everywhere. There was war there, and Senead was the one to win, no matter how it seems in this video. Those people yelling to her are the losers! The guys that didn't(couldn't, didn't want to) accept that somebody so much superior to them could have another opinion! The blinded by their own fake-superiority! The leaded byt he accepted! Go on Senead, we still believe in you! Those blindfolded don't deserve to hear your voice!

  • God, this is the most cringe-worthy thing I've ever watched.

  • What a decent and honourable humanbeing. And a singer..

  • Rock On Sinead - yer Brilliant

  • Is Sinead pronounced "Shinead"...or "Sinead" ????

  • so brave..Love her.

  • Wow, was she ever wrong about the Catholic church. No child abuse there....

  • That's what savage religious people do when they feel that their authority is destroyed by one single person! Fuck religion and especially fuck Christianity!

  • @albokk

    you are a moron.

  • @XxMalcolm and u r a fucking retard

  • @albokk

keep crying bud. you seem pretty defensive, were you one of the countless molestation victims of the catholic church?

  • @XxMalcolm Pretty defensive? How long did she wait for them to stop booing? A pretty long time! You would be defensive if half of a arena full of people were taking a shit on your beliefs, would you not? And it don't matter if what she said was the crazies bunch of shit ever! That don't give anybody the right to hate her for her opinion. I know they really do have that right but it was wrong of the big babies that can't accept the fact that not everybody believes the way they do. Pathetic

  • @utuber377

I don't understand what you are saying to me. I am fully in support of Sinead here, I was responding to some moron who commented in here.
