Yeah. I was surprised to see him sign. I didn't go there early to get in the front line because I didn't think he would sign. He came in and said he would sign on the way out. I was standing in three rows and he signed for about 5 in the front row and second row.
lol that guy "thank you mr. norton"...i would probably be crying if I was there or met Ed....it would never go well, I would try to act normal but come on!! Its EDWARD NORTON!!!
Edward Norton is not a superstar, he is a GREAT ACTOR and that is all he ever wanted to be in my humble opinion. He keeps his private life private and he doesn't play the Hollywood media game; no comparison to Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt who splash their lives all over the tabloids. I am a firm believer that it is any actor's obligation to tend to their fans, but not everyone can be satisfied. Situations like that can get really out of hand and become crazy. I've witnessed it myself.
Yes. he just signed a few. Timothy Hutton, Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley, Adrien Brody and others signed a lot more. John Malkovich turned down everyone on the streets.
I have to agree with everything you said. Edward Norton is a very private person, and he has said in the past that he thinks his movies are much more interesting than his personal life. So he would rather focus and talk about that. You got respect him!! LOVE EDWARD NORTON!!!
@MontyDoyle03 agreed that is why I highly respect Viggo Mortensen, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Daniel Craig, Gary Oldman, Russell Crowe, Johnny Depp, and Daniel Day Lewis. They all have the same attitude about not caring for super stardom(even though it seems like Depp is a super star he's a private guy) and they are all stellar actors.
It's just like I ask you to treat George Bush Jr. like a normal citizen instead of a president, or to treat Alex Rodriguez a normal baseball player instead of a superstar. Ed and Alex are superstars. If they don't like it they should change jobs.
It will be hard for people to do that. The only people don't treat him like a superstar it will be his parents and family. And the kind of amount of salary he's demanding for a film. I don't understand why you're defending him if you don't know him personaly.
I don't like the media either. It's the people who said that about him. He get pissed off when people asked him for autograph on the streets. He would rather people to compliment him for his work. The girls were chanting his name to get him to go back out to sign more autographs at his film premier but he didn't. Brad Pitt, Adrien Brody and other stars did go back out to sign more autographs.
Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, George Clooney are wondferful. Some other stars are great too. I heard that he and Tom Cruise won't allow any extras to eyeball him on the sets otherwise they would get fired. I played a cop in a scene with Ed in a Toronto studios. I like Ed as an actor. I was told that Ed and Tobey Maguire were two of the most difficult stars with the fans.
Difficult usually means arrogant, but he's just shy. On his IMDb board quite a few people have told their stories of meeting him and all of them said he was surprisingly polite and very friendly (unlike how the "media" seem to portray him). He just doesn't usually like the circus of attention in events like this (someone who met him at TIFF said he seemed very shy).
Of course it's just another Internet hearsay. Too bad I can't prove it myself.

He also signed autographs at the premiere and he seemed really pleasant and pleased to do so.

I'm defending him just as much as you're accusing him of being difficult.

he's not difficult with people in general, he's just difficult with the (usually) stupid media. who could blame him really.

I can't say anything right now.
If I get to meet him in person in the future I will be able to tell you. Maybe he will be nice me nice because I'm a screenwriter and an actor.

If you treat him like a normal human being instead of a superstar, I think you'll be fine :)
