I just cleaned my 2 cat's ears and I was very very gentle. I don't even think I cleaned them good enough because I was scared to hurt them. Even though I was being very gentle, one of my cats freaked out like this cat. They get spooked.
Do the ear mites cling to the ears like fleas?I imagine they're hard to remove also.The kitty should have been sedated some .Looks like the right ear was worse.

I'm confused when it comes to stuff like this because most of the hard-core cat lovers always bash it in your brain that cats in general don't need anything from humans, ever. They don't need us to care for their health, and certainly don't need us to clean them in any way (boy does that subject bring all the enthusiasts out of the woodwork).
So it appears that cats do need people to clean them then?

I have an indoor cat (he goes in our backyard) but I still use vet prescribed once a month prevention, revolution. I just rub it on his scruff & thats it :)
This video helped me a lot as I have a few cats.I clean them with a tissue rolled into a tube and do just the inner ears. It would be helpful tho,if you could tell us what to use for cleaning,like the vinegar and borax,what ratio or how to mix it.And by the way,our best doctors are indian here where I live.Thanks.

@unityspirit51 Vets are trained and they know how to clean the ear. But untrained people might stick it in too far and puncture the ear drum.

The vet is an Indian, I am pretty sure about this. LOL ! Proof (apart from ostentatious accent):
(1) He wastes over 10 q-tips to clean a cat's ears;
(2) Look at the way he holds the poor cat's ears !!!!! Without compassion !
(3) He grossly inserts cotton balls inside the ears - without careful consideration and caution;
(4) He uses the q-tips recklessly, without bothering about injuring the delicate outside chambers of the ears.
BTW, I am Indian myself (improved version tough ! LOL ! )
