though was a pretty collection, it felt soooooooo freaking chanel couture, almost that ready to wear appeal Lagerfeld gives the Chanel couture collections. GALLIANO!!!!! WHERE ARE YOU???
even though i miss galliano, i must say, this collection just blow my mind. it's just literally drop dead gorgeous. karlie did a great job at the beginning, she walked like a true diva...
the other girls didn't impress me that much...i noticed that a lot of the girls dyed their hair, like kasia, which i think it's sad, because she looked much better as a blonde.
lindsey is beautiful, but please-somebody has to show that girl how to walk properly.
Karlie is an amazing model. but I think it's time for Dior to do something new and unexpected. The presentation of the show was beautiful though. Anna Selezneva is looking stunning as usual. I'm loving the 50's vibe for this season!
Can you see, Natalia Vodianova sitting in the audience, next to a man, next to Olivia Palermo and then a little further, Cameron Diaz.... I wonder where Rachel Zoe was sitting
Galliano didn't create Dior so get over it. He lost both labels and there won't be a comeback. I'm actually glad to see Dior pull out these wicked pieces for 2012. And what are Galliano fans even doing here still watching Dior??? He's gone, so move on if you can't stand the sight of Dior. The fuck?!
People are so very, very ignorant and have NO fucking clue what they are talking about... all I have to say is I loved this collection.. I will ALWAYS love Galliano and miss him dearly but I give two fat ass thumbs up to Gaytten for this collection.
This is an exquisite collection, though, I agree that the gratuitous nudity was pretty unnecessary.
I like that the collection echoes Mr. Dior's work directly. Many new customers still lust after those designs and would probably enjoy being able to wear them, especially in today's lighter fabrics.
The shoes' heels were clownishly high.
There's nothing sensual about looking like you're 2 seconds away from a "fallen & can't get up" 911 call.
See through clothes to nudity is not Haute Couture. It is a lack of being able to think apon a new ideal and so nudity is brought in on the hope of disguising the truth. In Haute Couture the garment itself does all the talking. It is the perfect. It never needs the crutch of nudity to help carry it along.
Haute Couture's custom made. If a customer chooses to buy the 'nude' skirt they can have a lining of their choice sewed on. You're welcome. @LotusReach
NUNCA SERA DIOR SIN GALLIANO ¡I MISS YOU!
I love this collection. It doesn't scream "Dior" to me, but it's beautiful nonetheless. Not everything has to be wild and outrageous to be a great collection.
While I agree that this season's haute couture show wasn't as couture as past shows, it still radiates that Dior quality; from color choices, cut, prints, even down to the shoes, hair and make-up. At first glance, this collection would seem it belongs in pret-a-port, but there are minute details that make it couture. I love how the collection gives you the picture of a 1940s, 50s housewife with a dark, twisted past, who might be crazy. I believe Karlie Kloss, whom I really adore, resonates this.
@yvettemitchell123 and @Danil19901 Is that sarcasm? (I really can't tell.) Because I think Karlie Kloss is an amazing model who has a distinct walk and that smoulder in her eyes which many models would die to possess. She opened the show perfectly and she successfully preceded a line of stiff models (with the exception of a few of them.) In fact, it felt a bit jarring when the next few models appeared, like they broke the whole noir/femme fatale vibe that Karlie so effortlessly established.
@Danil19901 I agree. She pushes too hard being sexy and it seems quite fake. Some models have a sexy manner effortless and, in my opinion, is not her case.
@iamspaxicle I don't like karlie kloss. She beautiful yes. But fashion isn't always about the models. I like to see what the designer has put together for this year. I personally don't liker her walk or "smoulder". I like it when a model does what she's required to do, walk up and down the cat walk. But karlie has to swing her hips and pause at the end of the runway (in the group walk) and that bothers me when all the other models just turn. It should be about the designer.
The first things I recognized when started to watch the show were the ugly curtains, no decorations, the terrible boots of Miss I-dont-know-who, the "couture" fan of Mrs Arnault, the girls being more beautiful than the garments, the countryside robe at 8 something at the second part, the music which makes absolutely no sense... Oh yes and if these things would be the very same during a show made by someone, lets say with a more creative approach, I dont think I would ever ever recognize them
And yes, I am a big JG admirer but if his leaving would really mean the change of Dior´s creative aesthetics (like Valentino for example), I would shut the fuck up... However, in my subjective opinion, it does not. I dont understand people who say it is a great collection, getting back to traditions and roots... well, getting back to boredom... Reminds of Chanel in the 70-ties, really.
So, lets go and watch some Mary Katrantzou, probably!
@MissAnna211991 idiot...galliano didn't leave..they got the way to get ready of him so..shutnup and if you think this show is the change you must be the most stupid human been on hearth
When Jon Galliano took over Christian Dior, Dior was in the doldrums. He revived the brand, made it blow up. Now it turns back into a boring mediocre brend... It is so sad
what is this...?? i guess dior should think twice before letting go galliano....they can get a better designer ???hope dior will go down the hill soon
you guys have to understand this is the true concept of christian dior. do not talk bad about this collection it was a very nice and beautiful collection.
sure galliano would have made it ten times better. its because he has the creative ability to recreate them rather than making them look exactly the same all the time. this is why galliano SHOULD come back but the idiots at LVMH wont realize and accept it. so were now stuck with this.
I've just reviewed some old Dior videos. Galliano a genius, a creator. He gave us dreams and inspiration. And what can i see here? these dresses are just copys of classic models. You can find them in old magazines. This is so boring and sad...
@LiLUautomne No i am not,all couture shows at dior while galliano was in charge were making a big loss, the only couture house which claims to make a profit is chanel.
karlie should have gone out of dior instead of galliano but i really like this collection too, bravo to the new designer! constance, karmen and toni garrn after karlie zoolander looked stunning and vlada omg! so regal so magnificent as ever!
@taxiride1 those designs are not bad,but bill shud learn from sarah burton, being assistant to a creative director,is to learn new thing, and transform it into ur own ideas, not copy them 99% and repeat the same pattern, even the runway is a copy, models walking down on stairs is soo galliano's days, bill gayten is lazy and fashion is not his passion, its more of his job, btw, galliano pours all his heart and soul to all his designs..i really miss john,we already lost lee mcqueen,we cant lose another
@sanos2007 In the past generation of Dior always have a very creativity designer, even Mr.Christian Dior himself. But not for the present one.
After Dior fired John Galliano, I've heard that Ricardo Tisci from Givenchy would take this position instead and I was so sure that Ricardo would do as good as John Galliano did. But I really disappointed with the first Haute Couture collection on F/W 2011from current designer, also I disappointed that Dior pick up UNKNOWN DESIGNER to handle this big job.
@KarliquesGG well dior is done..so they will just do the collection as couture..to keep up ..no designer can take over after galliano..there are none...alexander kill himself and galliano is gone ..rest are just parfumiers not couturiers as dior him self said once..
John Galliano, is a vicious little thing, and anti-Semitic scum shame to humanity. In my book
a rational person with emotional intelligence should understand that return him to work! Just thinking about it proves that this is not important enough to dismiss such animal from work and moreover, even intolerance! And now all I've got to tell ya is: Shame on you idiot! And by the way, the colection is just imazing, and what do you know about fashion if I may ask?
dosen't Haute Couture mean the way the garment is made? Hand Printing, Hand Beading, Hand Sewed etc. so why are many people saying this isn't Haute Couture?
Inspired Designers will draw and create garment then chose the method of how to make it. Ready-to-Wear is mass production usually machine made, Haute Couture limited made 2 or 3.
Christian Dior need more theatrical and dramatic looks, more colors, this collection its OK.... same things, same colors, same looks.... boring... GALLIANO COME BACK!
At first I thought this was bad, BUT I fell in love with it now! My theory is that Bill is trying to bring back the classy, high end and chic Dior! Galliano is amazing and what he brought to Dior was jaw dropping art work! I feel like this is very classic Dior and that's what he is trying to portray.
We just miss JOHN GALLIANO. where is he? why dont he show up for his fun? i know the couture LADY simply adore him jusy like they adore KARL Lagerfeld
I love this collection, its so nice to see dior back to its roots.I know some people think that dior needs galliano but i hated some of the crap he would put down the catwalk, and then to be praised for it.He went too far away from the original dior. The only thing this collection needs is a splash of colour.
This is a really great show, without the richness and somewhat over-saturation of a Galliano presentation. I think it will really appeal to the Asian markets who are really getting into Couture.
@Desmonp21 Of course it will appeal to the Asian market : this is good but DULL. Inspite Galliano's "over-saturation" at least there was a show, which is the purpose of Couture. It is not like RTW : a Couture dress is exceptional and will be worn once by one or two people in the world. It is a big loss of money for houses like Dior as very few people are willing to put $150.000 in a dress: it is not commercial ! That's why Couture shows must be stunning and not as dull as this one ...
@maximedupuismd None of those pieces are $150,000 , I imagine the highest is around 50k-70k. Dior were only making a loss in couture during the Galliano years, but it has seen a 70% increase in couture sales in the last 2 years.
Like you said the purpose of couture is niche for only a few clients, therefore the rest of the mass public have no need to be concerned about it, as a result a small showing is acceptable-it leverage of a big show for marking purposes never offsets the cost.
love it!! and thanks for the posting!! KARLIE worked her best in this show exactly, and VLADA still the best..i can see new faces here, not know much bout them...and i must say, LINDSAY suddenly became wonderful in couture..her walk definitely great in DIOR..very couture!! but, too safe!! and wonderful!! if i gotta money, i'll buy all the looks!!
Bravo Mr. DIOR.You always have the elegant and classic and Haute Couture.

Desmonp21 1 month ago
@Desmonp21 Of course it will appeal to the Asian market : this is good but DULL. Inspite Galliano's "over-saturation" at least there was a show, which is the purpose of Couture. It is not like RTW : a Couture dress is exceptional and will be worn once by one or two people in the world. It is a big loss of money for houses like Dior as very few people are willing to put $150.000 in a dress: it is not commercial ! That's why Couture shows must be stunning and not as dull as this one ...
maximedupuismd 1 month ago 2
@maximedupuismd None of those pieces are $150,000 , I imagine the highest is around 50k-70k. Dior were only making a loss in couture during the Galliano years, but it has seen a 70% increase in couture sales in the last 2 years.
Like you said the purpose of couture is niche for only a few clients, therefore the rest of the mass public have no need to be concerned about it, as a result a small showing is acceptable-it leverage of a big show for marking purposes never offsets the cost.
