The two years of training pay off when the US 101st and 82nd show that they could match two or more elite German airborne and SS divisions.

@TheSmajgol It true. The Wehrmacht though loyal to Hitler, did not take part in the holocaust. They tend to be nicer, mainly to British, American, and Canadian soldiers, than the German SS. Even Rommel and many other Wehrmacht plot to killed Hitler. They were willing to fight, since FDR declared the war would only end if both Germany and Japan surrender without any deals, to the end. Also the Russians had reason to do horrible things to Germans. The SS killed over two million Russians civilian.

The Paris Peace Conference was too French and British biased. They want Germany to pay dearly. However, as a result people like Hitler was able to rise to full power. The Russians sometime are quick to anger and always take the smallest insults then turn them into a serve conflict. However, Russian cultures is known for its beauty.

Well some German generals gained a lot of respect from the allied forces. The best example is Rommel aka the desert fox. In Northern Africa they thought he was a long time invincible. And if Hitler listened to Rommel Germany might have won the war. Rommel is still considered to be one of the greatest generals that ever lived. And the allied forces acknowledged that. Sometimes you have great respect for some one even it's your enemy.

The US M3 Lee and M4 Sherman did change the balance, however it was limited by the fearful and dangerous German 88mm.
Whether you are German, American, Russian, British, Japanese, Italian, Finnish, Australian or whatever, it cannot be denied you guys were all heroes. You made history through your bravery and exploits, whether it be for good or for bad. And you really remind people of why we must fight and why we must never forget the horrible Second World War.

My grandfather was in the 101st airborne in WW2 but he was not in Easy Co. However, he did know many of the men in easy co, especially Eugene because my grandfather was a medic. He and all the other WW2 soldiers are true heroes and I wish I could shake each and everyone of their hands because we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today without them. When I catch myself getting overwhelmed with the ins and outs of daily living I stop and think about what they must have faced during the war.

@TheSmajgol It true. The Wehrmacht though loyal to Hitler, did not take part in the holocaust. They tend to be nicer, mainly to British, American, and Canadian soldiers, than the German SS. Even Rommel and many other Wehrmacht plot to killed Hitler. They were willing to fight, since FDR declared the war would only end if both Germany and Japan surrender without any deals, to the end. Also the Russians had reason to do horrible things to Germans. The SS killed over two million Russians civilian.

The Paris Peace Conference was too French and British biased. They want Germany to pay dearly. However, as a result people like Hitler was able to rise to full power. The Russians sometime are quick to anger and always take the smallest insults then turn them into a serve conflict. However, Russian cultures is known for its beauty.

@916ppl you are right there to and what i never got was the germans didnt kill ferdinand so i didnt get why the germans had to pay for ww1. and i like the russians(most of them) but i hated the nazis. my grandpa is german and fought for america in ww2 and he said he didnt much care for the soviets and hated the nazis. he lived in berlin from 1945 to 1952. he still says the germans were good people even after fighting them

Austria-Hungary was cocky after Germany declare it full support and ignore the threat of a Russian counter-attack. Russian did so, then, Germany declare war on Russia and France. France made no attempt to join the war but had no choice with a German offensive into its border. This was a sign of aggression by Germany against France.

Well some German generals gained a lot of respect from the allied forces. The best example is Rommel aka the desert fox. In Northern Africa they thought he was a long time invincible. And if Hitler listened to Rommel Germany might have won the war. Rommel is still considered to be one of the greatest generals that ever lived. And the allied forces acknowledged that. Sometimes you have great respect for some one even it's your enemy.

The US M3 Lee and M4 Sherman did change the balance, however it was limited by the fearful and dangerous German 88mm.

My grandfather was in the 101st airborne in WW2 but he was not in Easy Co. However, he did know many of the men in easy co, especially Eugene because my grandfather was a medic. He and all the other WW2 soldiers are true heroes and I wish I could shake each and everyone of their hands because we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today without them. When I catch myself getting overwhelmed with the ins and outs of daily living I stop and think about what they must have faced during the war.
