The hard part is engaging middle class folks, especially folks of color, to deal with their class issues. I have perfectly good growing ground, vacant lots, full sun, and my middle class neighbors don't want to look at anything wild, messy or just plain not lawn -- which has to be mowed using gasoline. So sad. They see community gardens as land use that lowers their properties values on $250k plus houses. Did Michelle Obama had single-handedly lower the value of the White House?

@VTYaYa hey I turned most of my back yard and part of my side yard into vegetable and herb gardens and I share it with my neighbors...and I rarely cut grass anymore!

We need someone like him in every community in AMerica. Our food supply is seriously becoming compromised. We have genetically modified, pestice, herbicide, Cloned and genetically modified animals are now approved by FDA and then there is Codex Ailimentarius which is supposed to be implemented by Dec 2009. We need a mass movement starting yesterday.

This is awesome!! I've been wanting to grow food for a while now, but I'm still living in a condo with no land. I keep trying to come up with ways we can have community gardens in our cities. If anyone has any ideas please post them.
