  • HR, theres about a hundred drummers as good as Keith Moon...if not a hundred , a hell of a lot.

  • Okay. People, covers arent supposed to be as good as the original. Keep in mind that The Who covered it too. I love The Who. And my favorite band is Foo Fighters. But, I don't consider myself biased. I love any music, and this cover is actually very good. This was one of the first times they did it. If you hear them play it now, its better. It frustrates me when people hate a band cause they "ruined" the song. It's a cover! Its their interpretation. And, music is subjective to everyone.

  • I was at this concert, so awesome!

  • this a who cover , a very bad one.

  • Mose Allison was original writer and performer of this song and his version trumps ALL of these crap covers.. I'm a huge fan of rock, but seriously check out Mose's version. It blows them all out of the water

  • @sl26t

I like The Who's version more.

  • Enjoy the music guys,,,, I love the Who, the foo fighters and Rush,,,, they are all talented and incredible. Just love the music!

  • Guess "WHO" does this better?

The Foo Fighters suck. They "milk" the audience too much in the rests and can't play it for shit. I had a little respect for them until I saw this crap. I'll get a lot of thumbs down for this but this IS a Foo Fighters concert, being watched by loyal, biased Foo Fighters fans.

Just accept it. Watch The Who perform this and you WILL see what I mean.

  • @ thankyoupourlavideo

yea I totally agree. The Who is way better, and no one can do this song like them.

  • @thankyoupourlavideo The Foo Fighters do milk the audience for cheap applause. The Who didn't do that. They just went at it and tore the world down with this song. They didn't stop and talk to the audience to get some cheap appaulse.

Lead vocalist is OK. Doesn't have as much soul as Daltrey did.

  • the drummer SUCKS compared to keith moon

  • You couldnt be more right!!!!

  • yep, it's true, but tell me 3 drummers that are at least AS GOOD AS Keith Moon. I mean, the guy's good, but compare him with Keith Moon is like comparing someone who's just learned how to play the guitar with Jimi Hendrix.

  • John Bonham, Neil Peart, Mitch Mitchell

  • first of all, john bonham almost learned how the play the drums with Moon.

And Mitch Mitchell hasn't got the technique and the feeling that keith moon had.

Neil Peart is a good shot. But, still, Keith Moon is impossible to compare.

  • Almost doesnt count bud. Neil peart is a better drummer than Keith moon, not only is that me saying that but the most famous music magazine in the world thinks so too... (Rolling Stone)

  • good shout. bill bruford too, and ofcourse dave grohl!

  • @HenrikeRamone46 dave grohls just as good as keith moon

  • @sharty5000 HAHAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • No one can touch Keith Moon, but I think Taylor does an awesome job on this song. I love both The Who and the Foo Fighters and I think this is a great cover.

  • The drummer out off Whos Whos is pretty good. He is keith! Check them out!

  • i was at this show in the very front row!!

  • I hate most music today but Foo Fighters are awesome.

  • you should get into Indie music. Looking at your profile, I can only tell that you have a thing for female bodybuilders... lololol j/k don't worry about it, but I can't recommend you any bands (which I'm great at)

  • I have been a Who fan for 30 years, and I think the Foo Fighters have done a great job with this song.

  • very well done

  • Why not just come up with something as good,if not better?

  • I am a Who fan from way back and this is a great cover. The Foo Fighters are honoring those who came before. To those few who want to bring up Keith Moon....none can compare so leave it alone....this guy does a great job

  • Well that's cool that they tried this song out. I've got some more respect for them now. I mean you already know you're gonna fall short trying to perform something off of "Live At Leeds." They did an O.K. job.

  • Fair play to them. I mean the Who did this when in their glorious pomp. After them everything is pale and tired. However this is OK if we don't compare with the incomparable Who.

  • why can't people just have fun and do a cover, why does everything have to be perfect with you assholes?

  • you guys are a bunch of dicks his name is "drew hester" not "foo fighters' drummer"

    ignorant twats.

  • i left that comment before i actually listened to the song. and all i have to say is:

holy shit, i laughed hard at your shitty drummer interpreting keith moon's moves. you can't, you fuckwit drummer. you really can't. kill yourself and do the world a favor. it is disgraceful to see a good song ruined by an absolute shit band like this.

  • You'd think that a guy that drums for a living would know to never try to imitate Keith Moon. It always comes off as cheap.

  • Its called a cover you dumb shit. Its not supposed to be a carbon copy of the original. Foo fighters and a lot of other bands did covers of who songs in their honor. Piss off and pull your pants up

  • why even bother "emulate" this song? you realize what "emulate" means right?

rofl the "foo fighters" make this look like a song on a fisher price toy. just give up already, you're a joke.

  • Well, I am a big Who fan but I'm not about to say,'Ooh, this isn't quite as good as my favourite band of all time.' So what if it's not? The Foos still have some top-flight pedigree... really. This is still a very creditable cover of a great track. There are probably people out there right now saying The Who should never have touched Mose Allison's original anyway!

  • nah screw this...everyone was at mayhem fest that day including me...and it fuckin rocked...

  • that's what makes The Who not only a good band but a great live band-consistency

  • Kind of rushed and mechanical, not very dynamic and lacking variation on the main riff, and by no means near Daltrey's passion and range. Drums were flat. Good effort, though..nice to see someone try the Who's classic version.

  • true

  • the drummer is not nearly as good as moon

  • Would you expect anything else? I mean, the Foo Fighters' drummer is good, but he's not Keith Fucking Moon. Nobody can compare to Keith these days.

  • LOL

  • one of the things i love with the foos is the love they have for classic rock.

no, its not as good as the originals, but they enjoy playing it, and for those in the audience that love the music too it's incredible.

  • that sounds so damn good but the who do it way better. Keith is just like damn amazing and Grohl cant match up with Daltrey.

  • I like the Foo Fighters, but no one can rock this song but The Who. I think they should stick to their own good songs, and not ruin what Daltrey's incredible vocal chords worked so hard to acheive. I bet almost no one there even knows this song. Oh, and by the way, this version isn't good because it is lacking one thing...

    Keith Moon!

  • Yeah! missing MOON!

  • and entwistle, come on.

  • Yeah i mean the most talented musician in The Who was Entwistle he had sounds on his bass no one could ever get, but moon was amazing but ithink Taylor Hawkings is just as good

  • come on man, entwiste was just as good at the bass as moon was at the drums. Entwistle's the best bassist of all time.

  • He was absolutely a great bassist, but... the best? That simple? There are a lot of basists and styles out there. As time went on, Entwistle did get a bit more noodly, which isn't necessarily what you want from a bassist. It wasn't even always what Townshend wanted. I'd say Paul McCartney is at least as good as Entwistle when it comes to providing a solid foundation, and McCartney's melodies are also second to none.

  • yes but could the same not be said about moon? i mean how many bands have drummers that bang out the same 4/4 beat over and over again *cough ac/dc cough*.moon was one of those drummers that made the drums as big a part of the song as the guitarist and singer. same with entwhistle, not every band wants a bassist that is almost a second lead guitarist but for the who it worked.

  • Absolutely.

  • The reason I like entwistle is very simple. The reason I think he's the best bassist of all time is very simple. He doesn't just lay down a standard chord progession line, the way that he plays the bass adds a completely new dimension to the song. I listen to a lot of Who songs just for the bassline. I haven't heard of any other bassplayer that can do that.

  • I too prefer the Who's version, that blows away just about anything one can think of, you don't beat Roger Daltrey, Pete Townsend, John Entwistle or Keith Moon, you don't even try, but hey, give these guys credit for doing the song period and it's not a bad version. I like the Foo Fighters but it sucks that Smear left when they were really at their peak.

  • 3/4 the ppl there dont even know this song

  • @fendertaylor101 3/4 ??? a bet a little more ;)

  • The Who kick ass!!

  • i was at this show!!! so sick

  • Foo equals best live band out there right now, hands down!

  • AMEN!!!!!!!

  • Taylor Hawkins fucked up when he took over vocals you can hear him say "it's the young man who's got all the money"he was supposed to say "old man' tht's why he hands the vocals back to dave it was funny at the show because he knew he caught himself.great show!

  • Like when The Who recorded live at leeds, Tha Foos are at the peak of their rocking power. Loved their version, it rocked... However nothing beats the whos version from the greatest live album EVER..( spent much of my teenage youth drumming and air guitaring to YMB, My Generation and Magic Bus)

  • Your so correct dude,The Who doing this at the isle of wight festival 1970 blows this away

  • i heard them play this song at the Who tribute show and this song really does kick ass i love it

  • Looks like they had fun playing it and I'm glad they've "resurrected" it. But really, all of the lighting effects are just to get some testosterone flowing and really a bunch of horseshit. Now that said, I think they did a pretty decent job.

  • this song is badass, and with the foo fighters playing it, it just got better.

but no offense, they cant match the who.

  • "...they cant match the who."

But really, who could? Good as this cover is, nothing will ever top the way the might 'Oo tore it apart in the early seventies...

  • i saw the foo fighters preforme this song at the vh1 rock honors. and not on tv i was there. it was awsome.

  • Did anyone else notice that the video footage they had in the backdrop of the stage was HD DVD quality? Do you think they'll release this tour on DVD or anything like that? If the Cleveland show was amazing, I can imagine most if not all of the others were! It would make for a great live DVD or live record.

  • foo fighters fucking rock period

  • Excellent version. They do THEWHO proud.

    LONG LIVE ROCK!!

  • how long ago was this concert? i was at the rock honors performance in LA it was SO good.

  • this was before the rock honors performance.. this was there first live performance of the new tour. its awesome!!!

  • They played for like 3 hours stright!

    it was fucking awesome.

    hah.

  • This rocks! So did their performance on The Who Rock Honors thing the other night!

  • I really liked when they did this on Rock Honors for the Who. It was the best performance (except The Who themselves).

  • when I saw them in portland I didn't know this was a song by the who. I just knew it was the best part of the show. except maybe for everlong.

  • It's not a who song, it was written by Mose Allison. One of the better who covers is on the Live At Leeds disc. The Foo Fighters do a good job here but not even close to the Who, especially when they were in their prime.

  • so true. But I give Dave and the boys props for a "close" second to the horrible 'Oo!!

    LONG LIVE ROCK!!

  • Mose was semi-popular in the 50's and 60's, and usually doesn't get acknowledged for the original because The Who transformed his song from Mississippi train-car jingle to a thunderous ear blowing arena rock performance.

The Who made Allison's song 'famous'.

  • the foo are in their prime and have been for 13 years

  • 14 years. not 13.

  • It all makes sense now...on July 12th, the Foos were going to be playing this song for the VH1 Rock Honors: The Who. Awesome that they practiced it for us. :)

  • I hope they make this a regular part in their setlist

  • This was one of my favorite parts of the whole concert.

  • No problem, I'm surprised I haven't seen others post this video yet. The second I heard something non-Foo, I had to start recording...you never know what you're going to hear!

  • ah Dude i was there! this was so fucking awesome! thanks for posting!

  • Excellent! Thanks for posting this.
