One of the finest songs Albarn has written, certainly in a long while. Would love to hear this as the last track on a Blur album. Ah, well. One can dream!
I think this is my favorite of all of Damon's vocals. There's just this particular softness to it that just feels good upon listening to it. I also like the picture it paints - a melancholy 2D singing about hope for the future while trapped in his underwater plastic room. I'm so glad I found this :)
... this version i personaly think is better...more demon days sounding... and the way damon changes the range of his voice....but Womaks is alot more Plastic beach, so both are GRRRRRRREEEAAAATTTT
I like the instrumental to this better, but honestly Bobby's vocals are more soulful and im glad his was on the album. This is great though, Damon FTW.
@BBoldtThaMixer I disagree. To me, Damon's voice conveys so much more subtle emotions, it sounds so sincere and real I can nearly relate to it. I keep skipping Bobby's version, because it never really clicked for me, I just simply never am in the mood to listen to it. There's never a good time for me to play it. I don't feel it. But that's just me ;)
Nah, I think it sucks. It's the typical slow rock ballads ya hear a million times. Womacks version is kinda rare because you barley hear that type of style in a mainstream album.
Now, excuse me while I unzip my pants.... *oh yes, I'm going there.......real gooooooooooooood*
Well in all honesty, this should have been the album version. Its potentially one of Damon's best ballads! Its annoying how unselfish he is with his songs! god dammit
@McEvoy2006 He never recorded this song with his vocals he wrote it specifically for Bobby Womack, this was done live in a radio studio . & I disagree , while I like this one better I have to admit Bobby Womack's version fit better on the album .
In my totally unbiased opinion I LOVE this 10 times more than the album version . Damon's voice fit's the instrumentation perfectly . It's definitely a flashback to their past works & sounds sorta like some of Damon's other stuff . I see why they got Bobby for the album version cuz that one fit but they gotta release this on the next single or something , they just HAVE to :)
I think this is about God
