I have seen worser actors than the ones in Gabriel Knight 2, and Tim Curry with his low voice made me even angry when i first played GK3. Seriously the laughing was the worst part: "Hyuk hyuk, *Snort*"...
Thing is, Gabriel is there sort of guy who tries to sound more southern then he is (and his is Norleanian) either to charm it up, or so people dismiss him as an ignorant yokel. He even does it when he narrates to himself, but at other times he's deadly serious.
At any rate, my first GK game was part 3, so Ericksons patience, and gentle voice took some getting used to, but I like both now. I just bought the novels, and I find I'm trying to blend Eriksons face with Curry's voice!
Yeah Tim Curry was alright and all, but you could hear Tim Curry's most well-known voice slip through whenever Gabriel was speaking. And not something that happened a few times...whenever he whispered or shouted, you could hear him lapse into his natural voice for a few times.
Still though I'm not saying Curry is a bad actor...he still played IT very well.
Erickson really isn't that great an actor. Probably one of the worst in the game. I especially don't like his voice and accent. Tim Curry was perfect in GK 1 and 3. I still enjoy this game though.
He probably wasn't the best choice to play Gabriel Knight, but I don't consider him to be a bad actor. I wish he had been able to continue his career in acting. Ah well. :/
