@chandlerblaze Wrong. It's a stick behind tracked by the Xbox kinec that's hooked up to a PC that processes the images, overlays a lightsaber glow and adds noises.

If you have a Xbox kinec, a PC, the proper software and the proper codes, you can do it. Most people don't have the software or custom written codes.

I like that as in a perspective for the future. Maybe in a near future some visual effects will be mostly made in real time and only few adjustment will be required in postprod. Maybe someday we'll see "kinect-camera" able to film and render some visual effects as same time for amateur movie makers at least. Could be a funny gadget.

Kinect need much to improve... as do psmove... they are both nice gadgets for the consoles but i think they should mix it up... a 3d sensored camera WITH a sensor controler like wii/psmove... and bigger play area on kinect

yes it does. The kinect scans 30 fps and is a 3d camera. this is a hacked kinect running on a program he built, of course it isn't going to work well with fast movements.

That is pretty interesting. Would it be possible to use this and some how create a real time camera tracking/match moving software? Like have kinect rigged up to a camera and have it in real time track points in space to re create the camera movement in a CG package for match moving purposes? Thus removing the need to do camera tracking in post production manually with software like SynthEyes?
