While home alone, my wife heard noises coming from the door to the garage. She armed herself with her S&W K-38 in time to confront a man with a carving knife with an eight inch blade. He dropped the knife, started crying, and ran out the door screaming "Don't shoot!". She did not fire a shot, but probably saved her own life. She is an excellent shot, and could have easily killed him, but used her gun to save a life, rather than take one. This is often the case.

To outlaw guns is ridiculous for a lot of reasons. One that people don't realize is that any decent machine shop can manufacture a firearm in less time than a knife could be made 50 years ago. So if you eliminated all guns today, there would be tens of thousands of them next week, and guess who would have them? The mere presence of a firearm often stops violence and saves lives. Yes... I'm not sure of what direction she is going. Is she defending gun rights? What I do know is that nothing we do will ever eliminate guns from every american citizen. Taking away gun rights would allow all criminals to keep their illeagal weapons, but the law abiding citizen would have to give their's up. If she had a right to carry a concealed weapon, maybe her parents would be alive today. Sad story, but I only see this continuing until people stop trying to put a band aid on a gaping wound.
