This match signaled a huge change in Texas wrestling. Up until this time Fritz was the resident hometown hero & the promotion featured many older veterans. After his retirement in this match the focus of the promotion changed to Fritz' kids who became huge media stars & turned his WCCW promtion into the hottest wrestling promotion in the world for the next few years.

Real tough watching all the boys together at the end there knowing what would become of them. This was a GREAT Von Erich Family moment, however!

The retirement match of Fritz Von Erich against King Kong Bundy!!! It's kinda creepy seeing Bundy with hair LOL. Lawrence : "This is for the American Heavyweight Championship. A belt that FVE one time held longer than any other human being in the history of wrestling. No disqualification. No time limit. There must be a winner. Gary Hart is barred from the Texas Stadium field." Great!!! But it's terrible seeing Fritz and five boys in the end. Fritz : "Five champs. I'll dedicate my life to it."...
