  • Give us Ron Paul. He'll help to tear down this giant vampire state of democracy that feeds off the worker. He'll help to return us to a limited Republic and end the socialist democracy we now suffer under. He'll end the theft and involuntary servitude of those who espouse "redistribution of wealth" whether it's to the poor or to the wealthy or to the corporations or to the United Nations or to foreign government. It needs to end as it has bankrupted our nation. Stop the envy and go to work.

  • Obviously you know little about Communism or Maxism. Marxist lead people to communism on a path of democracy that leads to socialism that leads to Communism that leads to totalitarianism.

  • The ignorance on this board is astounding. Does people REALLY think Communism is socialism?

You really believe Stalin tried to do what Roosevelt tried to do? Give me a fucking break. Staling was extremely right wing, Roosevelt was on the entire other side of the spectrum a left wing socialist democrat. Stalin consolidated power and ruled with an iron fist, Roosevelt wanted the people to have equal opportunity and stable lifestyle. They are NOTHING alike.

  • @manashima It really is astounding isn't it how ignorant so many people are?

  • I wonder who will provide these rights. So many of these are economic "rights". They require money. Who will make that money? Where will it come from? And what or who defines "decent" or "adequate"? Is a tube TV adequate or is a flat screen required? This Bill of Rights is a recipe for the suicide of a country.

  • @saney2k A TV regardless if it is a tube TV or flat screen TV isn't neccesary for life. Opportunities for education, decent employment, food, housing and healthcare are neccesaties.

  • Made perfect sense to me. WWII was coming to an end. His thinking was the same as that of the UK. If we have so much money and ability to kill surely we can help eachother.

  • Mr. FDR did so many good things for us (Europeans)... This speach meant for us that social democracy wasn't marxism or stalinism, but only common sense... probably Americans hate common sense... maybe, as an Italian, i'm poorer then you are (or less rich), but I'm not afraid to get sick, I'm not scared about pay for my children's education, i'm not afraid of starvation... Americans, you always speak of freedom, but remember this: a scary man can't be a free man... FDR knew that, honor to him!

  • A criminal and a traitor.....Privileges are not rights.....The Bill of Rights is based on the Natural Rights of man.....to assert that artificial privileges created by the govt. are rights, is false. The American Republic is a Limited Govt., not a socialist democracy...

  • @sovereignliberty If rights were natural then every society around the globe would have the same notion of what constitutes rights. If they occured naturally individuals would also naturally respect each other's rights w/o the threat of coercion if they ingringed on others rights. No where in the constitution does the word "limited" appear, in fact it gives a rather large range of powers to congress. You are yearning for the days of the Articles of Confederation - a miserable failure.

  • Sounds like Marxism to me. Shame on him. He wins a war against the National Socialists (Nazi Party) and the totalitarian Japanese and then he trots out this socialist garbage. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME! How could he says such stuff after fighting a war against this kind of enslavement of the taxpayer. Totalitarianism must be opposed.

  • @TulaiMr

Maybe because the Nazi's were facists, an extremely right wight wing party. Communism was an extreme right wing part of authoritiarian rule aswell. NONE of them were socialist or progressive. ALL of them were conservative, consolidated power to a very few and let corporations have control of things the government should be in control of.,

Kinda how America is now. Sad fact is that we are much more closer to communism and facism than socialism. Europe has socialist democracy.

  • @manashima I agree with you that The Nazi's were facists. You people who want to define totalitarian fascism on the right and totalitarian communism on the left and say we have to live somewhere in between them make me laugh. Fascism and Communism are both totalitarian governments that impinge on individual rights and freedom. Both embrace the force redistribution of wealth that creates human rights violations and involuntary servitude. What we need is limited government, not unlimited governmen

  • @TulaiMr How ironic that in many Euro countries w/ such programs (and don't say all of Europe is going to crash any day now, some are doing well, mainly those that kept their national currency) they in many ways have more liberties & freedoms - a more human drug policy, personal liberties, etc. Incidently, Theodore Roosevelt - a republican - advocated for very similar things (listen to his social justice speech from 1912). I guess you'll scream he was a Marxist too.

  • @njanovic1980 The worse the socialism, the worse the economic disaster. Teddy Roosevelt was a progressive republican, what we would call a RINO or Republican in name only today. Yes, Teddy leaned a little to far towards Marxism for me. Also, he took power unto himself that the Constitution did not grant to a president, very much like the socialist/Marxist who hold that office today. Europe, like America, like China, could be much more than it is if it would embrace freedom, and free enterprise

  • A poll was passed saying that a majority of young people 18-29 now support socialism over captialism , we are learning , you can call it what you like but if it's right, it's right , this is what jesus would of wanted not an economy run on greed and cruelty gone are the days of of radical leftist communist and hard -line conservative captialism soon , we will have an America that fdr was talking about the conservatives days are numbered

  • Glenn Beck, Hannitty and Rush Limbaugh never graduated from college. Their followers aren't too big on reading and have little in the way of critical thinking skills, much like their heroes George Bush and Ronald Reagan.

Yet they all see fit to demonize a great figure from our country's history: FDR. To all blue collar white people who allow themselves to be suckered in by right wing rhetoric, I say shame on you for being so lazy as to believe what you hear on Fox News.

  • FDR: a hater of the constitution, a hater of the American people. How would he advocate for the "prosperity and security" of the American people? By buying their constitutional rights out for a price, promising "economic stability." Eh, the people would do anything for that. It was the Great Depression. His speech is as smooth as butter, almost convincing. Nonetheless, he was a socialist. Keep guys like this OUT of office. They'll try to make us like Europe, FAILURES, big time.

  • @avionicwonder17 quiet down boy ya fukkin clown

  • Sounds like Communism, Socialism, and too much taxes. We would get these things faster and better if government just backed off, stop interfering and let Capitalism and the free market work.

  • @pf91rodman

You're an American that is on top of things. I commend you for having some sense. This man violated the constitution several times by stripping the rights of the citizens. We were unfortunately led by our noses, giving in to his communist and socialist political ideologies, having forgotten the very bedrock upon which this great nation was founded: individual rights endowed by our Creator. I pray that more people come to their senses and learn about their rights as Americans.

  • I think it's time for America to re-visit Roosevelt's second Bill of Rights as it needs a 21st century update but given that Obama is now signing away your Bill of Rights and your constitution petitioning for one might land you in front of a military court

  • @mutley2209

Obama is a reverent follower of FDR, sad to say...

  • I hope that when the economy has been stabilized, some president will try and fulfil FDR's dream.

  • @AarinHikaKao Why wait, his policies would stabilize the economy on.

  • @dave19941000 I don't know enough about economics to make such a statement, but if that is true, then the sooner the better.

  • This is purely & simply why I won't vote or stop believing that America is finished. There is nobody at all who has a viable chance of election, that sounds like this or wants to see this return. Capitol Hill has been bought and sold by the 1% & the other 99% are busy playing with their latest gadgets that let them watch the Kardashians on their cell phone, while they vote for Jennifer Anniston as the "Hottest Woman Of All Time". Live it up, shitheads. Don't watch Michael Moore. Go see Twilight.

  • karl marx said when talking about how people were practicing "marxism" that if this is marxism i am not a marxist..marx became demonized because people twisted his message

  • Capitalism: a Love Story?

  • @noleknight9399 In response to your comment, I ask you now, would the assurance of the "American Dream" (which now seems further than arms reach and slipping away) for every American be harmful to this country?

Again, this comment is not hostile, I simply wish you to re-consider your opinion, or at least many other's point of view.

  • This man is hero a to me and a president that has my greatest respect. Too bad america doesn't have a leader and president like FDR and just have empty suits now...

  • Sounds like a bunch of entitlements to me! The problem with entitlements (socialism) is that eventually you run out of other peoples' money. Soon people will think that they have the right to a smart phone, a computer, a car, an expense paid 2 week vacation, to have someone you pay to heat and cool their homes. After all its their right to have a warm house. Second bill of rights my ass.

  • @gsxchad33 And you must be a redneck

  • This is incredible. I had no idea he proposed this. Well, now I understand Mrs. Roosevelt's involvement in the crafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Much of what he said here went into that document. God bless him.

  • I wished he would have lived for a few more years..we would be so better off today. I find it funny how right wingers bash what FDR was about... but in the same breath when they find themselves in trouble they are looking for the So CALLED SOCIAL PROGRAMS.. OH AND BY THE WAY ALL THE RIGHT WINGERS THAT DONT LIKE SOCIAL PROGRAMS.. YOU SURE LIKE CASHING THOSE SOCIAL SECURITY AND DISABILITY CHECKS.

  • If FDR were President today unlike the wimp Obama he would have had all the Banksters in jail and tax increases on the filthy rich!

  • 38 people don't want to give up their gold-plated swimming pool for children on the streets.

  • #OCCUPYWALLSTREET

  • some of you are looking at it all wrong..doesnt have to be a "1 size fits all" system of financial regulaity... but the gap from rich to poor is absurd.. 1% of our country is a leech sucking the other 99% dry. There isnt much of a middle class anymore. This bill of rights is a general outline or foundation of the direction the constitution would go... constitution is always subject to change. Things in this country's economy are fucked, really no other way to describe it.

  • This speech brought tears to my eye

  • That sounds like socialism to me.

  • @Whiteplane

    Is that a bad thing?

  • @Whiteplane could you use some specific examples of how what he is saying is socialism?

  • @MrZombie4444 wiki: Socialism /ˈsoʊʃəlɪzəm/ is an economic system in which the means of production are commonly owned and controlled cooperatively; or a political philosophy advocating such a system.

    this speech plainly advocates solidarity.

  • Straight out of the Communist Manifesto. What a bunch of fools that like this guy.

  • @bbal232323 Well, when you can't think for yourself you turn to a leader to do it for you. These people you talk about aren't fools, they are comrades.

  • Great man. Greatest President.

  • the truth is FDR was a dick but he knew what it took to make a properus country. It is the formula we need to base our econmics off of. HEY I dont care what others have as long as I have what I need and ocasionally want. Like a good home . healthcare, a good job, and a drink on a friday night. The right to have these things as long as I put my share in. Sounds good to me (fantasy)

  • Worst president ever. None of those things are rights because they require labor. You don't have a right labor.

  • @RealityChecker77 Apparently you don't realize he was elected 4 times. And his paralized legs were strong enough to carry us out of a depression, help end WWII and put Americans back to work. If 77 at the end of your name means the year you were born, then pull out a history book from any country in the world and read. You are grossly mistaken in your opinion.

  • @reddkl

FDR made things worse and prolonged the depression. We didn't get out of the Great Depression until after World War II.

  • F.D.R. may be the last president who cared about the American people evenly.

  • Who fought with us an the world*

  • Everything he said instead went to the countries we fought with

  • "Are the good times really over for good?

No, the good times aren't over for good. "

The working class need reclaim this democracy. the only democracy there is.

Which is a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

    this is just!

  • It does not mean that the government will provide a gun to everyone who can't afford one. In the same way, the government should not deny anyone a good education, but it is not the right of every American for the government to "give" education to people who cannot pay for it.-A quote from a friend of mine and I couldn't put it beter myself.

  • I agree with EVERYTHING he said. My only issue is the unmentioned assumption that we have a right for the government to give us those things. That is not true. A right to bear arms means that the government will allow us to bear arms.

  • @SuperMrina These are considered to be "positive rights", meaning that the state has to provide them for the people. As your reaction shows, these positive human rights (as codified in the UDHR) are more controversial than the "negative rights", such as freedom of speech, which simply require a state to NOT stop someone from exercising their right.

  • Poor man. He delivered that stirring speech with his last breath. He had brought us out of the Depressions and through the War by that time. The light he carried sent us beyond what we ever dreamed we could be.

  • The time has come to ENACT FDR's vision of a just society that ensures dignity and possibility for ALL, not just the top 1%!

  • Occupy Wall Street!

  • Yeah people are such slaves in the top EU countries. Where you are treated like an adult and actually can drink outside, where the cops aren't all a bunch of hillbillies who actually fight crime rather than harrass citizens.. yes we certainly could learn nothing from the EU.. keep waving that flag and living in a dreamworld...

  • God help us all American people! We were given this these rights, by F.D.R., to pursue, but after his death, they were kept from us by corporations in those days and instead were sent overseas to recovering nations after WWII (Europe and Japan). If F.D.R. were alive to see what has happen to us he would lead the fight with us and with especially Dr. Ron Paul in the fight to win the 2012 election, our U.S. Constitution, our freedom, and finally our new Bill of Rights! God Bless You Sir!

  • I do not care if he's dead, I fought myself a write-in canidate!

  • Wonders what America would be like had he lived to give us these rights. Wonders why other countries have these rights while the "leader of the free world" does not. Hope my children have the chances we don't.

  • @fenyxrynning There would have been no cold war, the Soviets wouldn't have enough to disagree with!

  • I don't know how so many people in this country forgot where we have been & what kind of leaders we had. FDR is a hero to me and should be to everyone who calls themselves an American

  • @JHarmon10 This was FDR's attempt to incorporate Marxist ideology into constitutional law. This is nothing more than paving the way to a nanny state and ending capitalism. If you agree with FDR in this false declaration of "rights", then you may color yourself a Marxist for that is what you are. BTW... Marxism promises everything but only delivers subjugation.

  • @WELanning FDR was not a Marxist he was a liberal sympathetic to the needs of the people. If conditions worsened America was at risk of a nationwide revoluton for the people, and in order to curb these revolutionary feelings, the New Deal was passed which gave many concessions to the people.

I bet you watch Fox News. Guess what...there was a study recently that showed that people who watched Fox News are dumber than people that don't watch News at all. You don't even know what socialism is.

  • @WELanning Not only do you not know what Marxism is but you also don't realize that capitalism would not be destroyed with these rights. It doesn't implement a post-monetary, classless society as Marxism would or operate the economy cooperatively like Socialism would. These are wonderful ideas any state should have, but its not communist in nature.

  • oh FDR!how i wish there was another like you in the white house...lol.a great and honorable man who is truly for the people.

  • God Bless you FDR. No man has ever done more for America and her people then you.

  • @thelewddwarf28 Too bad nothing he did is still around today. Hell, nothing any of founding fathers is still around, or anything from the constitution for that matter, we might as well just throw it away. We don't use the Bill of Rights or the Constitution anymore, so why keep them around?

  • Could someone please show Obama this video? Please!!!

  • Remember an America where the Populace were NOT the serfs of the upper class as they are today - now THOSE were the days. Strange how he died soon after this as JFK did after taking on Wall Street and RFK in equally contentious circumstances

  • You tea bagging faggots (right wing idiots) under my comments are idiots go read a history book and gain some useful knowledge! FDR is a hero of the world and Britain wouldn't be here today without him and the fact Hitler declaring war on the US shortly after Japans strike on the Pearl Harbor of Hawaii and even the undeclared war when a German sub fired at a US frigate

  • The Greatest US President who ever lived!

  • The US desperately needs another FDR to dig ourselves out of the economic mess that congress has got us into!!

  • I would consider myself to be a Burkean Traditional Conservative, but I dont get why so many modern conservatives hate FDR. Seems like a dead on guy to me, someone who cares. They always talk about Reagan, you know cut taxes and then borrow shitloads to fund the military budget thus increasing the defecit. How the hell is that the mark of a good president. Plus the Waltons like FDR, and how can you argue with John Boy!

  • Comment removed

  • @ThomasAD3 Like Im not just talking out of my hole because I saw Capitalism a Love story. Here in the UK, we basically had a lot of right wingers come out and say he was so brilliant, he brought down the USSR. No he didnt, the people of the Soviet Union did it. However I was happy that some conservative commentators actually said what needed to be said. He was an actor trying to play politician. How would he really have much in common with the ordinary man?

  • @whyamimrpink78

You need a clearer understanding of what communism is.

  • Should every rich scion have the love of America and the welfare of the people at heart like TR and FDR had...

  • Ah, the days when Democrats weren't worthless, corporatist pussies.

  • He was the best president in the world. You can thank him for all the good things that happened after that war. The economy improved dramatically and jobs were opened for us, Even with the war going on, He did no tax us, He did not make us pay for it. He was the best. RIP FDR

  • This is still needed.

  • One of the best defenders of the human dignity. It is shame that his ideals were best received and welcome abroad, where they found a way to achieve social peace and a better and improved environment for future generations.

Roosevelt's idea are now a principled and founding idea of all european states where desegregation and equality is being achieved everyday in our society. But I fear even here, we may not be safe from intolerance and extreme right ideas that pollute America today.

  • Death to Tyrants

  • FDR's domestic policies during his administration were a total disaster and complete failure! History (and liberals) treat him kindly after we won WWII, and he'd died. This is more of his New Deal socialist garbage and shows his contempt for the Constitution, which is carried to this day by the extreme leftist ideologues.

  • @JIMMYEDSEL In that case, can I have your Social Security checks? You could just cash 'em and send the money to me via PayPal, and I'll be sure to send you a thank-you card every month. Thanks in advance!

  • Unregulated Capitalism is the ENEMY of Freedom and Democracy. Companies are robbing our farmers from work, killing our crops, stealing our water (thus disrupting the water cycle and causing desertification), gambling away our money, and taking our generous tax dollars that were suppose to be used to fix these issues and turning them into raises for their Executives. I'm not preaching Socialism, just common sense and the right to life.

  • How would it be the right of every farmer to sell his product at a return that provides a decent living? The statement, necessarily, sets farming apart as an indispensable industry. Yes, we do need food, but that doesn't entitle farmers to be lazy, wasteful, or overcharge. How, then, are we to let the worst farmers fail, if all farmers are entitled to make a positive return. This is total nonsense.

  • @ariuszarim How about we apply your perspective to banking and Wall Street and see what happens. The CEOs drive a company into bankruptcy and they're given millions of dollars in bonuses (AIG) for example. Why shouldn't people who work earn enough to feed their family? You need to read the preamble to the constitution AND the bill of rights.

  • @reddkl I agree. There shouldn't be any bail-outs, subsidies, or regulation.

  • The Greatest president of the 20th century. as chuchill stated about FDR "very highest regard and admiration for the President. His breadth of view, resolution, and his loyalty to the common cause are beyond all praise

  • @greg4161 FDR was one of the worst presidents ever. He create a new deal that prolong the recession that only ended because of the war. We are now paying for this new deal we can't afford. He increased the size of the federal government so now it control our lives and is leading to the downfall of this country. FDR was an idiot and so was his supporters.

  • @whyamimrpink78 Delusional Republican. Go to sleep now. The big kids are talking.

  • @zanzalot Brainwashed liberal. Keep being stupid and living off of my paycheck, the big kids are talking.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice try, but too bad... I work two jobs and attend college, so shut your mouth.

  • @zanzalot I work 3 jobs, just recieved two degrees in science, just got accepted into graduate school (which will get paid for) to work on my masters in physics. So I will go out and say that I have a little more experience than you. No real hard working person is a liberal unless it is some lazy job where you don't do anything or much is expected from them.. My suggestion, get out in the real world, work real jobs, and actually educated yourself, like reading instead of being told something

  • @whyamimrpink78 Hm, so now why are you calling me lazy? I told you that I'm going to school and working to support my own self. How is that lazy? Please explain to me how I am being lazy. And yes, I am also a liberal. You know who else is a liberal? Bill Gates is a liberal. Warren Buffet is a liberal. Both want higher taxes on themselves. Both are of the top 5 richest people on Earth. Are they lazy people?

  • @zanzalot I respect Buffet in a lot of ways, he donates his money, but him being liberal is him being for big business, same with Gates. They want to destroy small businesses and just corner the market. Liberals create high taxes and unecessary regulations that hurt small businesses because big businesses can afford to work through regulations and government involvement, small businesses can't. For example, a liberal federal regulation that hurts small businesses....

  • @zanzalot ....Federal minimum wage. I like minimum wage, it just needs to be a local one. For some reason liberals think there should be this one size fits all mentality with it so they enforce a federal one. As a result small businesses, like the one I worked for for years can't afford to give out raises or benefits. I get paid the same amount as a high schooler now, and good workers move elsewhere to make more money at bigger businesses. If you actually worked you would know that.....

  • @whyamimrpink78 You can have your opinion, but saying "one size fits all" until the words are etched into the non-mailable mind of yours which sees everyone that disagrees with you as an "idiot", ironically, makes you look like a fucking idiot.

  • @meltycheese I don't see people that disagree with me as an idiot. The truth is is that we can't have a one size fits all mentality of the federal government. Cost of living, climate, society, etc. are all different all across the country. We need to allow the states to establish government programs and have the fed. govern. be there to grant us the ability to control governments. Simple.

  • @zanzalot ....Also, liberals enforce a one size fits all mentality on taxes. Raise taxes on the rich, what is rich. 250,000 for a household, in Omaha or Des Moines that may be well of for a family of 4, but in San Fran., LA, NYC, etc. that isn't rich. How about we let the states and local government enforce taxes. How about we allow the states to enforce regulations. Every state deal with different environmental issues, we don't need federal ones just state ones....

  • @zanzalot ....Same with health care. This is where liberals really showed who they were. Despite control of congress and the executive branch they couldn't agree on one bill because the reality is that most states want health care reform, just different ones that will fit their budget and health issues according to their states. They have now passed a bill that is worthless doesn't help health care at all. Look back at history, the founding fathers ran into that same problem....

  • @zanzalot ....Every delagate of each state wanted to federal government to do certain thing, all different effecting states in different ways. So to solve that the gave out states rights which allowed the states to deal with things like health care reform since every state is different, different people, climate, ecnonomies, etc. And the federal govenment was set to give a us, and US citizens, a way to control government. Liberals don't view it that way....

  • @zanzalot ....They feel the federal government should control everything and control our lives. They say they want to give you health care, or social security, or protection from business, but really they want to control you lives, or they are just plain stupid (like their supporters). The thing is, just because people in California want the government to do something doesn't mean the entire country wants it, same with every other state. But liberals don't feel that way....

  • @whyamimrpink78 AND just because YOU don't want something it doesn't mean that the rest of the country doesn't want it!

  • @ajkrueger Exactly, I don't want a single payer option in health care or live in a completely communist state so I decide not to live in one. If you want to live in one then so be it, move to a state that has lots of social programs and I am not going to force you to do otherwise.

  • @whyamimrpink78 A single payer health care system makes it a completely communist state?

  • @ajkrueger Yep, when the politicians that are suppose to give out the health care fairly are receiving better quality of health care then the citizens then that is communist. When the quality of health care provided is worse or less health care is provided because of lack of resources, or the country starting a war, or the politicians taking more than necessary then that is communist. Using health care as a way to control businesses or lifestyle, that is communist.

  • @zanzalot ....My suggestion to you is to work in small businesses, and work in a job where you travel to different states and meet different people, and read up on history and after doing all that for years see how liberal you are. I don't mind liberal ideas, I just hate them and see how scary they are at the federal level. I like health care reform, I just want reform that works for my state, same with minimum wage and business regulations. Enough of this one size fits all mentality.....

  • @zanzalot ...And I am not saying republicans don't do their fair share of increasing the size of the federal government and taking away state rights, it is just that liberals do it a lot more. They do everything they can to run your life through the federal government. Their supporters feel that they deal with the same issues as everyother state because they are unexperience. Liberals are unexperience and lazy that live off the federal government which is slowly ruining it.

  • @zanzalot And Bill Gates is lazy, he is great at marketing a product, but basically took someone else's creation and took credit off of it. He has also cornered the market with a crappy computer because there was no one else out there to challenge it and he did the best he can to make sure of that (describes a liberal, no competition means more money). It wasn't until Apple starting producing a better computer that finally starting caring about a good product.

  • @whyamimrpink78 You really need a lesson in computing history, don't you? Apple was the first fully assembled home computer in the market place, with Microsoft and the IBM PC coming out later to compete, being more geared toward business. For a long time, Apple (not Microsoft) was the big dog on the playground. What killed Apple (and what still keeps it down) is its proprietary nature. You can't buy an Apple clone. People want cheap...and that's the only reason Bill Gates is rich.

  • @whyamimrpink78 If you can't say anything with substance and intelligence, don't say anything at all. All you have done so far is insult me and other liberals.

  • @zanzalot You can't have intelligent conversation with liberals, they just turn around and name called when placed into a corner.

  • @zanzalot The problem with liberals is that they only know one side of an issues because they refuse to look at every variable and actually take the time to educate themselves. Liberals make excuses because it is never their fault. Also, liberals spend more time in a certain social group they are very myopic and have no clue what the common man wants or know how to work as a team. I am not republican or conservative and they have problems, but liberals are just plain worthless and scary.

  • @zanzalot Brainwashed liberal. Keep being stupid and living off of my paycheck, the big kids are talking.

  • Easily the best U.S. president of the 20th century... a real visionary.

  • The tax rates on the richest Americans haven't been this low since 1916, before America entered World War 1. This was 20 years before FDR's New Deal.

  • 1944: 94% of the money earned by the richest Americans was taxed. Today it's less than 35%.

  • I can't imagine the Repunogs at Fix news would be as compassionate as this to care about all Americans.

  • @jstein4123 They used to call people that colluded with hostile foreign economic interests and profiteered from war saboteurs even traitors. Today they're called patriots, and the gullible public joins "tea party" organizations and elects them to Congress.

  • We need an American Labor Party that's platform is based on these fine things. It can have internal factions on social issues, but these fine rights MUST be enacted for us to be truly free from the corporate state that is forced on us by the center & center-right majorities in the Democratic Party and the right-wing ideas that the Republican Party has recently endorsed. We complain of politicians driven by self-interest, yet when anyone tries to get close to there, they are labeled a socialist!

  • FUCKING SCUMBAG

  • @BrettDunbar Idiot.

  • If the younger generation of America or any American for that matter, believes in the rights that Franklin Roosevelt proposed 1944..... remember you still have the power to do so.... & that power is the right to vote... The right to vote is what the rich fear the most... Use your vote wisely next year....

  • FDR was all wrong. Only Goldman Sachs, Henry Paulson and Bill Gates can save the USA and bring prosperity to all!!!111

FDR was a pure communist! No way this could happen in god's own country. Hail Blankfein! Hail Wall Street! Hail Mammon!

  • @JPBerger71 Idiot.

  • @JPBerger71 Milton Friedman and his disciples like Alan Greenspan have bankrupted the United States of America by removing the laws that restricted banks from gambling with depositor's money. The FDIC bailed the public out of a situation that should have never existed in the first place. Deregulation combined with the lowest tax rates in history have destroyed the US economy. We're also the only country in history that won't tax imports even from enemy nations like China that have tariffs on us.

  • Jobs, houses, and healthcare are not rights. They are the products of hard work and dedication. The government is not responsible for providing these things and nobody else is either. Its the responsibility of each individual to go out and work for these things.

  • @Adandy29 Rubbish.

  • @Dendiol and just how is what i said rubbish?

  • @Adandy29 I agree that the individual has ultimate responsibility for their survival and the state must not undermine hard work. However, Roosevelt's second bill of rights would have made America a more just and fairer country, where so many are exploited and impoverished due to the actions of the wealthy few. Access to affordable healthcare is a right, I believe, as the government has the duty to protect all lives from illness or disease, regardless of ability to pay.

  • @Dendiol the govts duty is to protect the freedoms and liberties of the people. nothing more, nothing less. we should have a completely free market economy so the people can provide health care among other things for our country. if the govt stopped taxing us so much and got rid of these govt funded programs we would all have more money to spend on health care. you cant trust the govt to provide these things because they dont have the peoples best interest in mind. only the people do.

  • @Adandy29 As a European social democrat, I respectfully disagree. I believe that a balanced combination of state and market can deliver beneficial projects that fully benefit citizens, not CEOs. America's aggressive free market is often responsible for a great deal of poverty.

  • @Dendiol what agressive free market? we dont have a free market we have a mixed market economy. the govt taxes us so much to help run these programs that are supposed to help us but in the long run it puts us more in debt. if we stopped all of the govt programs and let the ppl keep their full paycheck then we'd all have more money to spend on our own welfare and the govt could begin to pay off some of our debt. the govt has no role in the economy.

  • @Adandy29 Every completely free market economy has failed miserably and turned quickly to fascism or a rebellion by the citizens. Do your homework.

  • @Dendiol The only thing the federal government is there to do is deal with foreign affairs, have a universal form of currency to deal with foreign trades, and gives us protection from big government(like free speech, bear arms, etc). All other powers are granted by the states. That is why they run education and police. The is no US education but state education. You want "rights" like healthcare it needs to be provided by the states because not every state wants it.

  • Where have you gone FDR? A lonely nation turns its eyes to you.

  • If only if only....

  • @TheAndyinSeattle If you believe in the rights that Franklin Roosevelt proposed 1944..... remember you still have the power to do so.... & that power is the right to vote... The right to vote is what the rich fear the most...

  • FDR, where are you now that we need you?

  • What an amazing man.

  • This could never happen in America. Once people are happy, they lose their fear. America is run on fear.

  • exactly fdr you were one smart guy. fucking minimum wage people getting to keep $150 a week after taxes when it should be at the minimum $400. if people cannot afford a basic lifestyle with a home and car whats the point of having a minimum wage?

  • he knew what was going to be need after WWII, too bad italy, germany & japan had those included in their bills of rights, we won the war, we lost the peace !

  • @ThomasAD3 Oh no, sadly they said the same things about FDR back then too, they also called him a fascist in the sense of hopping in bed with businesses not mass murder.

They need to come up with new material really...

  • @ThomasAD3 Actually back in his times people were much more like the Tea Party.

  • @ThomasAD3 Think again. If the vast majority back then would have approved of the Second Bill of Rights why wasn't Truman able to produce it after Roosevelt's death? If the vast majority was in approval of Roosevelt back then than why is it that most Americans demanded a Constitutional Amendment that prevented any future president from serving for more than two terms and the Amendment passed overwhelmingly? Many Americans were happy with the 1st Bill of Rights and saw no need for another.

  • @ThomasAD3 I know a few Brits who would love to send their rioting "stupid furriners" in London elsewhere. Folks in Paris would like to do the same with theirs I imagine. All the while the Marxist EU and the Euro are in the toilet economically and socially speaking. But why wouldn't we want to be just like that? Hey, thanks to you progressives who have been singing that same sad tune for decades we are just like them: Marxist, economically dead and full of "stupid furriners". Good job, be proud!

  • THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT.

  • TANTAMONT TO CENSORING IS CENSORING. JOSEPH PATRICK WARZINSKI

  • @AnonymousElektron Yes, how dare the New Deal create additional equal opportunity, protect us from robber-barons, give the U.S. public something to fall back on in hard times, and prevent financial institutions from taking advantage of the economic system. Good things are actually bad things.

  • @LoxNBagels The New Deal does not create equal opportunity. It steals from one to give to another. Who are the robber barons? Are they the Wall Street fat cats that and corporations and banks who were bailed out by Obama and friends. Yes, save us from that group of thieves and banksters who add their theft to the millions of other parasites who wish to live on the backs of those who are productive. Redistribution of wealth is theft.

  • I came to this country and achieved all that and more on my own. Why do people born in this country feel that the government is their best friend or has their best interest at heart. A progressive government only seeks to enslave its citizens by dictating how to live every aspect of their lives, in reality freedom is lost. Governments don't create jobs or wealth, they can only take it from the productive members of society. Quotas, minimum wages, etc. hurt the businesses expected to create jobs.

  • @cbetancourt I hope minimum wage standards get cut. Have fun being paid less than a dollar an hour ;) Then will that change your mind? When you live in nothing but poverty, will you then see that you will never reach the 1% or the rich? Or do you already think you are in the top 1% lol

  • @316Legend you moron!

    That would never happen!

Nobody would work for such a small sum of money.

Minimum wage would naturally find an equilibrium within the market.

Do you think that without minimum wage laws, the minimum wage would drop to a few cents an hour?

    Stupid.

    Learn some basic economics, morons.

  • @AnonymousElektron

"Do you think that without minimum wage laws, the minimum wage would drop to a few cents an hour?"

Do you think it would stay the same or go higher??

"Nobody would work for such a small sum of money"

Yea right, even if it means watching your children starve. *Billions* of people all over the world work for such low wages. Those low wages would also drop the wages for *everybody* in non-professional jobs. Walmart would die as a result.
