AK-47, is inaccurate, and cheap. It is reliable, sure, but the M16 is decently reliable if cleaned properly. The AK is meant for spraying rounds down range at high speeds, not as a rifle. The M16 however is on the contrary. It's made for accuracy. If you want to know the best gun around, it's the H&K HK416. Reliable, fast, accurate, durable, and it has the same model as an M4 with the gas system of a HK G36
Sako's 7.62 RK 62 or M62 is a AK related weapon. Considered the best AK weapon in the world(since there is a fuckload of different versions).
You should take m16 and compare it with the finnish M62 (or the newer a little enhanced M95).
Shot thousands of rounds with it (god bless conscription) and can say that it was very accurate even when I shot it the first time with no gun experience. Many of our captains who had been in peacekeeping said that american usually envied the M95 over their M16.
I think it's the person behind the gun. Maybe some people are more accurate with an Ak than an M16, and maybe others are more accurate with an M16 over an Ak. But you got to see...the M16 speaks for itself...doesn't matter who says what is better...your always right if your the last man standing. And many Ak lovers are dead because of this M16. But like I said its the person behind the weapon. M16 lover but never underestimate your opponent no matter how big or small they are.
The AK103 is a better weapon than M16 overall. The AK is more reliable, easier to clean, has better penetration due to .30 cal round, and is caveman simple to operate. The M16/M4 has better range, better ergos for mag changes, more accurate, and easier to scope. I carried an M4 for a year in Iraq. If I had my choice I would carry an AK103. I make hits with my SGL 21 at 300 meters all day long and I own a Colt 6920 as well so I am not biased. Hopefully, the M16 is dumped for the HK416.

@akkudakkupl The Sig 550 uses an AK type system, yeah. It really has the same reliability as the AK judging from tests I saw. It's a lot more refined then an AK. The Sig 550 doesn't STANAG mags I think. Commercial versions in the usa like the Sig 556 uses STANAG mags though.

the ak is a less accurate but powerful rifle still m16 is more accurate but less powerful in a situation in which a soldier needs to take his weapon apart and put it together again the ak is much faster 'ak wins'

its pointless to compare the 2, they are 2 different generations..it would be more realistic to compare M14 and Ak47..because when the US adopted the M16, the soviets thought that it was a good idea, and developed the AK74 for the smaller round..useless argument...

The M-16 is more accurate. The AK is more reliable, causes more damage when it hits and is easier to produce. I'd take the AK, but the M-16 is also a formidable rifle.

@ArodWingfoot One of the big reasons why the M14 went into retirement, was because of the AK. They found the AK was a better close range rifle then the M14.

@esh325 Noone wil deny the AK is a better close range rifle. However the M-14 is a much better long range rifle and stild does have a close range game. This would be a compelling arguement but the M-16 is the same way. a much better long range rifle, as compared to the close range rifle.

@akkudakkupl The Sig 550 uses an AK type system, yeah. It really has the same reliability as the AK judging from tests I saw. It's a lot more refined then an AK. The Sig 550 doesn't STANAG mags I think. Commercial versions in the usa like the Sig 556 uses STANAG mags though.

The AK-47 and its variants have probably killed more people than every other post-Vietnam assault rifle combined (perhaps not the FN FAL), the reason it is a favourite for terrorists is because it is one of the most reliable weapons that has ever been, requires very little and infrequent cleaning, it is also cheap and the round is powerful. In my opinion all this far outweighs the Accuracy of the M16, AK is a better gun.

@marragon but the again the m16 is much more accurate and has a concentrated power the ak47 maybe a bit better if the round was thinner and a bit lighter and the power was lowend if the bullet was light the ak47 would shoot it all over the place and u may luckily just hit something any way the accuracys low and the range on the ak but if u do get hit its not your day because the power.

La AK47 tiene una gran potencia, pero no están precisa y la M16 carece de fuerza pero es mucho mas precisa. En mi opinión es la AK47 ya que si nos enfrentamos en lugares con diversos obstaculos la AK47 ganaría y si fuese en campo abierto a largas distancias como de 50 o 100 metros si la M16 no constase de mira nos podriamos acercar lo suficiente como para disparar a 30 o 60 metros lo cual la precisión de la AK47 ya es suficiente ademas de que la M16 se cala facilmente al contrario que la AK47.

@alfonztv The AK-47 was built for use by Soviet soldiers, not guerrillas. Any gun could be used in guerrilla warfare. The M16 also more accurate because of 5.56x45 round it fires. The AK-47 doesn't have a lot of recoil. Have you used either rifles? If not, then you don't have a valid opinion on the matter.

M16, Cons = Used by America, unreliable, low stopping power. Pros = Accurate, designed to conserve ammo and cost, lightweight. AK47, cons = not as accurate as the M16, older versions are heavy. Pros = Known as one of the most controllable weapons in fully automatic fire, cheaply made, quick to produce, many variants, reliable, durable. Theres more too. Ak 47 wins IMO but then again i'd choose any weapon over that American piece of shit.

M16 have better sight and its much accurately than ak-47. Only good thing in ak is its power. Its works better on close combat but m16 works very good in medium range and pretty good even in high range. you have to remember that... Every gun can kill... But in longer range its much better than any ak-47. And if you say ak47 is better because its can go trough easily from every thing,
