active pickups pick up more noise but you can get more cutting sound out of them, i've always player with jumbo frets, i dont like the smaller ones.

the neck is very thin, but for the solos part, the good thing about V guitars is that you can reach the high notes very easily and it makes soloing a bit easier, for me thou.

i had metal zone, but i like metalcore because it has more gain and low boost, and the solos sound better, i think metalzone only suits for rythm playing.

I also got my rocktron silver dragon today, and it kicks ass.

you cant say if its better or not, both have the same active 81 pickup sets, but different body style, i think V is more comfortable than AX, but thats my opinion.

also if you look at the specs the only difference is that the neck in the ax-400 is 3-piece mahogany while this ones neck is 3-piece maple but still its not too much of a difference and it costs about $100 more...
