Love this!! big time! I have the Stew Pletcher version on QRS. Love your early shots of Manhattan skylines! Such a delight! Thanks a million for sharing. Your vids are always the very best!
Hello Grzegorz - I guess when they all say that New York City is a Capitol of the World - they are right! Thanks for this magnificent vid and have a super good day!!!
@Cantormatis Playing lead on the head melody? I would assume so. The brief improvised solo however sounds like it's a tenor sax and not an alto. Benny was a multi-instrumentalist but I believe that he was mainly an alto sax player. I took a listen to the recording again, and I'm going to speculate that that tenor sax solo is NOT Benny.
Yet another favorite record; the great Chick Webb did one of the best versions of this Benny Carter-composed standard. Stunning shots of Webb's stomping ground -- back when his band was stomping. Marvelous!
Love your video. Love everything I've ever heard by Chick Webb!

Great song! I'll have to find this one for my collection!
Do you know who the vocalist is? It doesn't sound like Louis Jordan (who performed with Webb), but then again it does.

Just returned from snowy (!) NYC. Thanks for the memories. Yes, of course it has changed, but still has that essence and constant beat.

I believe that's actually Benny Carter doing the vocal.
