Oswald was a creation of Disney and Ub Iwerks. When Walt lost the rights to the rabbit, Iwerks joined him to help create Mickey.

Almost 80 years later, a deal was made to bring Oswald back to Disney at last, in an UNUSUAL trade. Disney would get him back, and Universal would get Al Michaels for their NBC Sunday Night Football broadcasts.

i think the friends thing is a reffrence to the epic micky games..... either way i thonl disney is missing out on the fact they could do something with oswald in todays generation

No they're both made by by Disney, but they are not REALLY meant to be brothers, people only call them that. Oswald came before Mickey did, but I still think they're both really cute. :3
