Not this version of the solver. This video was shot pretty early in the project, and it only demonstrates that cube manipulation works.

Nice work guys! This helps show just how simple the Rubik's cube is afterall!

To call this a solver is a bit of a stretch. I imagine you run the routine to mixed up the cube then run it in reverse to return to the original solved position.

A solver would require knowledge of the colours and locations of each piece. Then to learn the solution steps. That would be more of a software challenge.

You are right that this version is really simple. It's just a test of some motor control code. This video was only put on YouTube for our project blog. Please check out the final version (it's in the video responses here).

The final version is a complete solver that scans the cube using color sensors and calculates a solution in the NXT brick with no outside help.

This was for a university project and I don't have any Mindstorms stuff myself. So there are no other projects on the go.

Leute diese Bewegung gibt es nicht.

Der macht immer die gleiche Bewegung, weil der nicht einen total durcheinanderern Würfel Löst, sondern weil das ein total regelmäßegeß Muster löst. Wer einen Würfel zuhaus hat, einfach mal folgendes ausprobieren: Alle Mittelebenen zweimal drehen. Schon habt ihr das gleiche muster, wie dieser im Video.

Trotzdem weiß ich, dass es verdammt schwierig ist, sowas zu programmieren, ich hab den Roboter selber hier. Deswegen nur ein Wort: Respekt!!

lol das war ja nen esay muster wers gern möchte dass es so über kreuz ist der löst den cube einfach und dreht dann immer die mittelstücke 2 mal oder die beiden gegenüberliegenden aussenstücke 2 mal drehen tada. aber es gibt auch richtige rubixcubesolver, die einem den Würfel immer wieder in die Ausgangsform zurück "errechnen"

Hmm ich hab den Eindruck, dass der Robo nur die vorher einprogrammierten Schritte durchführt, also dass er nicht wirklich den Wuerfel loest sondern eben nur DIESEN Wuerfel loesen kann. Wenn er am Anfang nicht dieses Muster hätte sondern anders verdreht waere koennte er ihn nicht loesen.

Kann aber auch sein dass ich mich täusche und dass er vorher (vor dem Video) mit nem Farbsensor sich den Wuerfel angeschaut hat, glaub ich aber net.

Meiner Erfahrung nach sind die Sensoren auch nicht wirklich so zuverlässig um z.B. den Unterschied zwischen Orange und Rot zu erkennen, is ja hauptsächlich im roten bis infraroten Bereich angesiedelt die Messspitzen.
