  • Actually, the catholic inquisitions lasted several hundreds of eyars, in Italy, France and Spain, and it is estimated that up to 60 million people were killed in various ways - it was all about retaining power for the church and its leaders. English kings including Henry V111 used the same methods for exactly the same reasons, but the Catholic Church was way ahead, and the use of the term Inquisiton was only changed about a century ago.

  • For Napoleon to have abolished the Inquisition he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize!!! He was a Bastard but he did this one right! The Millions of innocent Victims of Torture including Children, Old people and Priests had come to such a Frenzy that Napoleon finally ended it! it lasted for 1000 Years!!!

  • @BluesHarp60 Millions?! Not really...killing is wrong, but you're clearly exagerating...I wonder why everybody talks about the inquisition but no one seems to care about the killing of women by the protestants...witch hunting is their creation. This series might be entertaining but it's clearly biased against the Roman Church. For example: the Mortara boy shouldn´t be removed from his family. But they knew jews were not allowed in the city and they still decided to take the risk of living there.

  • evil spanish bastards

  • Napoleon tried to dismantle the Catholic Church. Pity he failed. What a fantastic man.

  • @MrJohndl did it ever occur to you that Napoleon was Catholic???? He was a catholic to start with but once he got power he turned his back on God. And plus the man was not only really short but he was also a little mentally unstable.

  • @countrywillneverdie Napoleon was never mentally unstable. Everything he did was calculated. Never forget that it was Napoleon who introduced the penal code into France which is the basis of their justice system. There was no system before Napoleon, it was at the whim of the Kings and Nobility or during the revolution the committee for public safety.

  • @countrywillneverdie not neccessarily "turned his back on his God". He may have changed religion, or just stopped feeling that the Catholic religion was the truth for him.

  • @countrywillneverdie

The best thing Napoleon ever did was exterminate the remainder of the inquisition, for which he should receive a medal in modern times..

  • @MrJohndl

He was, i completely agree. It would have saved a hell of a lot of lives.
