cont...this head sculped in 30min. The workflow is: sculpt-ZB, no retpo, 3dsmax for UV+reset XREF, Painted in MB.
In terms of workflow I prefer MB.
ZB V4 (not released yet)will work with textures (not projected like now).
I think that the best option will be a new sofware or MB or ZB upgrade that includes... retopo tools, GPU render, better sculpt tools, better transform tools, paint layers like Pshop. and.. auto UVWmaps like (3dsmax unwrella). :)
SCULPT: ZB better than MB, more precise tools. There is no RETOPO tools in MB, it uses a Real Time GPU render with AO, specular, and bump, so you can sculp details using map's precision with a med or low poly model. (bad movement of the head in this video is beacuse , video capture soft can't record in RT, sorry).
PAINTING: MB is better, you can paint textures in RT, like photoshop, not only solid colors, in MB you can adjust layers.
For sure, ZB is more complete than MB, but is easier for texturing and realtime GPU render. This MB option is better (in my opinion) if you prefer to work watching the final result with GPU AO, HDR, and compex directX shaders.
if i could ever get this good...

So if I make a character, how do I make the actual game?

reminds of the creature from the last star fighter...

I use the same method for my workflow, zbrush is so great for modeling but mudbox beats it completly by painting in 3d in realtime.

No, you need 3dsmax, maya,Soft Image, Blender,,, etc. to animate it. this is only for modelling and painting.

is it possible to make fps rigs and playable characters and what not using this program? or animate stuff using it?

Mudbox is easier, you can learn it faster than zb.and you'll get almost the same results.
latest versions are zb4 and mudbox2012.

That looks very realistic, great work.

That was GREAT.
It reminds me of the reptillian creatures from Journey to the Centre of the Earth (the old one).

@katikake These 3D models wirh zero creativity and invention are only for training, just to learn 3d tools like zbrush or mudbox.
Thanks

Last week I used ZB only for RETOPO.

"Modeled in Zbrush, painted in Mudbox"
I haven't used either, but, why? Why use both?
Great work, BTW.

Yeah, I'm curious too. I usually get the same results just with zbrush. But I like learning other artists' work flow too.
