This region is really not more buddistc than anywhere else... Just enjoy your trip and keep ears and eyes open before making official serious statements... If this is a travel guide I hope you understand that you could get snowed in over a night in December with road blocks for weeks and frozen water in the taps...
@helenasweden1, I've been into that region a few times, and I've seen more of the Buddhist prayer flags there than elsewhere. But yes you're right, it isn't really very Buddhist, certainly not like the area around Dharamsala. "Official serious statement", funny, I don't know where you came up with that. I'm just a traveler having a good time. As it turned out, I actually went straight up into the Himalaya there, all the way to Josimath, yes I was taking a chance but it was worth it, amazing...
