Hey I guess since the military canceled the SCAR contracts this guy has gone to work for Adcor Defense now. Adcor's BEAR is still in the competition, the SCAR is not. The long stroke reciprocating bolt charge handle is a killer... you DON'T want to get in it's way.
@Cookies205 Well there are a lot of factors to that like basically every firearms manufacturers says there gun is superior its just business but its more complicated. A lot of people prefer the feel of DI even for its faults and a lot of the products the military spends tax money on isn't cross compatible with the SCAR, that's why there are so many AR15 clones, its cheaper to alter a gun then replace it.
@williamED15 furthermore, the 5.56 ones are aired to be taken off the SOCOM inventory. However it will still compete with quite a lot of chances in a future competition forreplacing the M4A1 or something like that.

How so? The XM8 Wasn't even modular. It did not have a folding stock. It had no rails. It couldn't take a STANAG magazine. The battery life was too low to support it's electronic functions in an actual combat situation. It had a number of issues with overheating. After the latter 2 issues had been resolves, which were the only ones to be resolved, it weighed more then the Army had asked.
I already told you. What good is a weapon with some 30 less stoppages then the SCAR on 6000 rounds if you can't pull out 6000 rounds because your grip melted?
I'm sure the range, accuracy etc were comparable between the SCAR-L and XM8, but as I said, the XM8 is not modular so it bites the dust against the SCAR-H on all those issues. On top of that, everything I already told you, from rails to folding stock, and STANAG's the SCAR is just more of the weapon the Army requested.

Magpul made a far better rifle than this. FN claims it to be an ambi assault rifle, but it really only has an ambi safety. The barrel change takes way to long AND you need a very specialized torque wrench for it. Fieldstrip is a little complex as well, and it is just a way overblown assault rifle.
For the price point I could buy several rifles that are just as capable as this one, how can anyone justify buying it at the price? Same problem as the ACR, it's a nice gun but I'm a very practical person. Yeah it's cool that it's being used by SF but I still wouldn't buy it, least not in 5.56. 7.62 maybe but still I maintain that price is everything. I will say that FN was very humble though during the interview which was nice, unlike a lot of other gun companies.
I still see most spec ops units using m4 varients. In the 14.5" barrel or shorter. If I was spec ops I would not want the scar. I would stick with an 10.5"-14.5" m4 type.
I have never heard that an M4 rifles only has a 4 to 6 thousand round barrel life, that is crap. From what I understand, the barrel life of an M4 barrel is 30 thousand rounds. Some please correct me if I am wrong?

@JERMBUGS i dont really know the answer to that but he's saying the standard barrels that come with the issued rifle by comparison is better but you can purchase match grade barrels for your m4 or ar15 platform
Match grade would require more maintenance, thus pretty much making it useless for combat, the SCAR is great and it can receive 1MOA at 100 with quality ammo, but then again so can an AK74M.
