  • Before you claim to know something, you should always do your research first.

Miyazawa Kenji is/was NOT the founder of Keio University. It was a renowned samurai named 福澤 諭吉 (Fukuzawa Yukichi) who founded the school. And that's him on the 10,000 yen bill.

    You needed to be corrected.

  • Your Fate Has Been - Sealed!

  • wow the band played evangelion OP, I love japan so much T_T

  • I was expecting a scene out of the Moyashimon manga, like a professor that makes kiviak in his spare time. Great video none the less Rodger, keep em coming! :D

  • OMG EVANGELION THEME FTW. That has to be one of my favorite animes of ALL TIME.

  • Maybe it's because I'm from such a different culture, but the deer dance costumes were kind of scary looking.

Nice, though, I really enjoyed this one. Oden looks like canned sweet potatoes...XD

  • The deer dance was quite interesting. They were putting all they had into it.

Don't know WHAT Oden is tho. Looked different...5:08.

  • Caramel Apple!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice video Rodger!

  • looks like you are popular with students of the time-honored agri school.good job. did you ever read "the restaurant of many orders"?

  • i have not read that one, but i was told the story by a japanese friend back home.

  • This is a great video! The deer dancers were so cool!

  • Diggin' the quality of your new camera.

  • Evangelion FTW!!!!!

  • 3:40 - Holy crap, that's the opening for Evangelion!! So cool!

  • digin every single episode and every horror review

  • Oh,,,, Depetche Mode - Behind The Weel, love that song...

  • Hey Rodger are you near Sapporo? I'm not too familiar with Japan so just wondering :p another good video

  • I'm much closer to Sapporo now then I was when I was in Tokyo haha. But it's still a bit of a ways north :)

  • @rodgerswan Oh, alright thats cool.

    Do you have Skype?

  • 1) is that a really big sheep, or a really small child?

    2) rate the band for playing NAE OP

    3) those puppies at the end were the cutest thing :D

  • Anyway the Deer dance was really great. The band playing the Eva theme was awesome and the sheep look sexy. Ya'll cant tell me that tha there sheep aint pretty. Kentucky USA people, sorry.

  • ONLY IN JAPAN WHERE A SCHOOL BAND CAN PLAY THE EVANGELION THEME.. sigh...

  • Because they can and they are the best Schools. I mean come on its Eva man you cannot argue with it. Great for cheer leaders to dance to..

  • Really cool festival and awesome footage man. Great job cant wait to see whats next :}!!

  • Great video! Looks like you had a great time. That deer dance looked awesome. Good times.

  • That must have been pretty awesome but why were so many people wearing masks :(

even the sheep was kool, never saw one before ^_^

  • many people wear masks in Japan, especially the bigger cities to try and keep from getting sick.

  • ooooo thanks for the info ^^

  • My school never produces events same with the rest of my area. was good to see the various features there

  • I love the fact the students are playing the opening to Evangelion. Ha ha!

  • before that they were playing michael jackson songs hah!

  • Evagelion theme!!!!

  • Looks great and a lot of fun. I like the art work too. Ooo a caramel apple. That's something I missed this past Halloween. Puppies! I liked the cute bunny too. :)

  • um can i ask, why all the face masks ?

  • He said at the end there was the flu going around so perhaps some people had colds.

  • ahh ok thanks

  • OMG NEON GENESIS SONG!

  • record yourself giving a class swan :D

  • Ooo yes. I'd like to see a video about his job.

  • and to hear him actualy talk in japanese (i think) :D

  • i would love to see him do a class too!

  • recording students in the classroom is a bit of a grey area and there have been cases on youtube when teachers have got in some trouble for doing so here. I think videos like this are the extent that my students will be seen to avoid any undeseriable situations. I would love to, but it brings a lot of problems that I would rather not deal with.

  • @WARLog403 neon genesis evangelion

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion opening theme. i was sat trying to remember what that tune is off, for about 15 minutes xD

  • Swan you glutton! This episode is mostly just you eating food! Kidding aside, great stuff. What an interesting school!

  • Yes so jealous of that carmel apple.

  • I love how they're playing a brass rendition of Neon Genesis themesong!!!!!! ^_^ Excellent episode, thanks for keeping up such a high quality of content for us Swanny :-)

  • Hm... Maybe you should do a segment where you talk about the culture (at least what you know) exhibited in some of these videos. It'd be interesting, and I think you'd make a great teacher. Because... You ARE a teacher.

  • hah awesome... the NGE theme :D... my favourite anime-manga.

  • Friday iwateswan watching is becoming my tradition... great video again.

  • dude one question what type or car do you drive?is it a toyota??

  • it is a toyota starlet. a cute little car haha!

  • Hi, Roger!

There are so many young people!

Usually they are not very interested in agriculture. This is very nice!

  • as an Anthropology major myself, I also agree with this comment to a point, although please be careful not to "bundle up" Japanese daily life into neat little packages lol, tourist-type shows and experiences are anthropologists' worst nightmares as they tend to over-simplify stuff. But this Iwate Swan isn't a silly bird, he knows how to put a good video together, and then some! ^_^

  • When you were living in Tokyo area and enjoying to be a city boy, I never dreamed

that two years later you would live in a countryside like that and make a video about Agricultural School Festival. But glad to know you adapted yourself to a very different kind of life style in Japan very well and continue to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your new experience with us!

  • The hell? They were playing the Evangelion theme? That's just weird

And aha, Japanese schools, the only place where you won't get in trouble for drawing anime style characters.

Ahh and I do love just hearing people naturally conversate in Japanese and any traditional stuff is a plus too. So keep it up Swan.

  • A really fun and interesting video as always.

It's a nice change looking at Japan from a more rural area away from Tokyo.

Keep up the excellent work. =)

  • How's the weather there this time a year?

    Cool vid

  • it's really cold now and it's only gonna get much colder.....

  • How cold is really cold?

That looked really cool... Gotta be awesome to be in a country that actually has culture.

  • i like ur new intro its great!
