you put your future in a can, in japan mind you. does that not sound like some movie you would review? in the movie when you open the can it turns out what you wrote was that you die when you open the can. Rodger, when did you open that can?
Before you claim to know something, you should always do your research first.
Miyazawa Kenji is/was NOT the founder of Keio University. It was a renowned samurai named 福澤 諭吉 (Fukuzawa Yukichi) who founded the school. And that's him on the 10,000 yen bill.
I was expecting a scene out of the Moyashimon manga, like a professor that makes kiviak in his spare time. Great video none the less Rodger, keep em coming! :D
Anyway the Deer dance was really great. The band playing the Eva theme was awesome and the sheep look sexy. Ya'll cant tell me that tha there sheep aint pretty. Kentucky USA people, sorry.
Looks great and a lot of fun. I like the art work too. Ooo a caramel apple. That's something I missed this past Halloween. Puppies! I liked the cute bunny too. :)
recording students in the classroom is a bit of a grey area and there have been cases on youtube when teachers have got in some trouble for doing so here. I think videos like this are the extent that my students will be seen to avoid any undeseriable situations. I would love to, but it brings a lot of problems that I would rather not deal with.
I love how they're playing a brass rendition of Neon Genesis themesong!!!!!! ^_^ Excellent episode, thanks for keeping up such a high quality of content for us Swanny :-)
Hm... Maybe you should do a segment where you talk about the culture (at least what you know) exhibited in some of these videos. It'd be interesting, and I think you'd make a great teacher. Because... You ARE a teacher.

Just as a pointer, I think you should do a lot more videos about your daily life and what life is like in Japan rather then different festivals and happenings - I know what festivals are like, they're probably pretty much the same everywhere =) I come here for anthropological reasons, I want to indulge in and go deep beneath the skin of japanese common culture, what the young people do at night, what their family life is like and/or whatever. I think you get my point =)
as an Anthropology major myself, I also agree with this comment to a point, although please be careful not to "bundle up" Japanese daily life into neat little packages lol, tourist-type shows and experiences are anthropologists' worst nightmares as they tend to over-simplify stuff. But this Iwate Swan isn't a silly bird, he knows how to put a good video together, and then some! ^_^
When you were living in Tokyo area and enjoying to be a city boy, I never dreamed
that two years later you would live in a countryside like that and make a video about Agricultural School Festival. But glad to know you adapted yourself to a very different kind of life style in Japan very well and continue to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing your new experience with us!

Maybe it's because I'm from such a different culture, but the deer dance costumes were kind of scary looking.
Nice, though, I really enjoyed this one. Oden looks like canned sweet potatoes...XD

The deer dance was quite interesting. They were putting all they had into it.
Don't know WHAT Oden is tho. Looked different...5:08.

And aha, Japanese schools, the only place where you won't get in trouble for drawing anime style characters.
Ahh and I do love just hearing people naturally conversate in Japanese and any traditional stuff is a plus too. So keep it up Swan.
