The X-Man, Oak, Mason...I hated those Knicks with a passion! lol Man, sure do miss basketball back then though! I miss it even more on NBC, the only network that knew how to cover the NBA.

And fuck the bulls... They got so many Jordan fouls and special treatment so that the NBA could market Jordan and make their money.... Jordan is the greatest, but the knicks should've won at least 2 titles in the Jordan years, but they didn't because of the Jordan Rules( read the book)
I love when people say that Phil Jackson is a great coach... I mean look at the sorry excuses for teams he took to the title... Terrible players like MJ, pippen, Shaq, Kobe, and all the others did absolutely nothing to win... It was all Phil jackson
I feel you. those were the best days. I miss em. I could not wait for football season to be over so nbc would have sunday coverage. ABC needs to make the NBA epic again.
Even being on the losing end of the rivalry i miss those knicks bulls series. I look back now and those memories never fade. That was when basketball was more important than anyone else.
Hi, this is TRJ22487. The REAL one. On Christmas Day my account was stolen and defaced by a hacker.
If you have a subscription to TRJ22487, please flag "him" and unsubscribe. He doesn't have NBA on NBC videos. I am the one that uploaded everything. I need everyone's help, I was really screwed over.
I generally love these NBC intros, but this one was contrived. They're artificially adding in this alternate "what-if" scenario that could've POSSIBLY played in Jordan's mind as he celebrated the championship? Trust me, he was NOT thinking of the Knicks...LMAO. With all that said, I'd take any NBA on NBC intro over the complete gutterfuck of a presentation that is ESPN/ABC, who snazz it up with all this pop bullshit and have no idea of how to tell a story or make anything dramatic.
If I remember right they played the first game on Thanksgiving and thats when Chicago got blasted by 37 I think. That win on Christmas night was an extra Christmas present. I was in the 6th grade at the time
I got my Super Nintendo on this day as well with Zelda Link to the Past and Bulls vs. Blazers. I remember watching this game too. I also agree with peepinR's comment, NBC games during blowouts were still entertaining. When the Rockets swept the Magic in 1995 that entire series was still great the whole way through. The only thing to me that has ever really been memorable in ABC's run is Derek Fisher 0.4, and that was five seasons ago, in a six season stretch.
Yeah I probably watched all of those games but...really they aren't memorable for me. I find myself remembering 1993 clear as day but sometimes I'll be watching a current game, and I'll watch the whole damn game, and an hour later I forgot what I just watched...idk. NBA is still good and all but it will never be close to what it was. For me personally. And a lot of others it seems...
But how much of that is fallout from MJ? There really hasn't been anybody like him, and there may never be again.
I dunno, I think the league is still pretty good: 2006 was the best playoff year since 1993, the Warriors upsetting the Mavs in 2007 was unreal and that 3OT Suns/Spurs game this year was among the best I've ever seen.
Wow, what an intro. NBA on NBC was the best in sports television. I truly believe the guys in charge of the NBA on ABC were watching too much MTV or Lifetime during the 90's.
The NBA on CBS was better. Of course during those days (the 80s) there were better teams than there were in the 90s with the Bulls and the NBC coverage.
But of course everyone agrees that the ABC coverage now simply sucks.

The Knicks sucked. All they did was copy Detriot's style but couldn't win because they had terrible offensive players with no intelligence about anything they were doing. You have to be smart, not just play with raw cow hide.
I'm just telling you the truth. Everybody knwos it and the facts prove me right. New York was NEVER a legit contender to face Chicago; I mean it took the refs cheating in '94 for the Knicks to win without Jordan--even that took 7 games!! HAHAHA!!! The Knicks played poor offense and they never won because instead of having their own identity, they tried to copy Detroit and you can't win rings trying to act like somebody else. Sad, it's really sad. Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Bulls, all dif. styles.
the refs cheated???? ok so put footage of that on the tube and the knicks didnt copy DET style....if so y everybody hated DET and alot of people liked the knicks
People hated Detroit because Detroit NEVER kissed anybody's behind and they continued to beat the so-called "good guys" of the NBA: Magic, Bird, and Jordan. People liked the Knicks because they weren't a threat to Jordan's empire and Ewing and Jordan were great friends; Oakley and Jordan were great friends. Remember, New York is a greater market than Detroit. Had those same Pistons played in NYC the NBA would've loved them because of the $. It's all about politics and cash. The Knicks copied Det
You know, it was Jeff Van Gundy's remark about MJ's friendship with others that made the latter angry before a 1997 game:
JVG, in some pregame comments before a Knicks-Bulls game in Chicago, said that MJ was using his friendship with the Knicks to con them out of winning games. Combine that with his simmering rage about his alleged gambling, and you have a 50-point, all-out effort against the Knicks. Chicago won that game, and MJ screamed something at JVG toward the end.
Sure, MJ is good friends with Patrick and Charles, but THAT MEANS *NOTHING* ON THE BASKETBALL COURT. You know how much MJ hates hearing about cheating and gambling and all that other crap. The Knicks just HAD to add some extra drama to every game they played. Plus, MJ admitted that he wanted to punch his "friends" when they played against him, because of their "defense" (they mangled the JR's JUST a bit). At least Detroit, by my knowledge, kept the media out of it during their playoff meetings.
Let me just add that, while MJ and Oakley were great friends, everyone in Chicago during the 1990s viewed him as a demon. Watch Game 3 of the 1996 playoff series between New York and Chicago. See if he goes soft on MJ and everyone else. In fact, see if any of the Knicks use no physical play AT ALL on the Bulls. In their playoff meetings between 1992 and 1996, the Knicks were intent on slaying the Bulls (no pun intended), but MJ, as always, was MJ.
The phantom foul against Pippen, putting Hubert Davis at the line for 3 ft's to win the game was ridiculous. Even JVG a couple months ago agreed that his Knicks got lucky.
15 Christmases ago, the first one I remember because I got Super Nintendo! I wish I was watching this, Heat-Cavs was lame, Suns/Lakers is a little better at least
Well on Christmas Day now, It's Miami and LA Lakers duking it out on Christmas day. It is on ABC Sports. But during the Bull's dynasty, their biggest rival was the Knicks and this could be big on Christmas.
Letting the X-Man go was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made. I really think we would've beaten Houston in '94 if we had kept him. Man, the NBA needs a rivalry like this again in the worst way!
At the same time Xavier as a player really declined too so maybe the Knicks knew what they were doing. I remember having him here in Boston the following year where his career kind of died.
I think that having the X-man in '94 would have helped us against Houston. However, letting Starks not take as many threes, and letting Rolando Blackman play could have helped the Knicks win the 1994 NBA Championship as well.
but nynick007 we did have the consolation of beating them the remaining 3 games of the regular season although ultimately we lost to them in the conference finals
damn right it was the best, remember when the rockets kicked the bulls ass back in 97 on nba on nbc, hakeem in hit a three in houston that day, go rockets
Damn straight I remember that game. Rodman got kicked out too. It's a shame we didn't play them in the Finals that year (blame Karl Malone and his dirty elbows for that)
When you heard Jim Fagan say "THIS is the NBA on NBC!" you knew it was GOING DOWN.
No, no, I meant the game that ramonjrp was taking about. The 1997 game between the Rockets and the Bulls. MJ said during the interview after the Knicks game that he was upset about that loss. I wanted to know if that game preceded the Con Game.
Ok its obvious that New York looked at what the Pistons use to do to beat the bulls and went out and hierd a bunch of goons an thugs to try ta get at the champs.they almost pulled it off!lol :33 look at Will Prudue trying to be tuff. Antony Mason would of beat the stew out of him lol
hey, man, I would never knock it. Fresh is good with those videos, but I just happened to see this video on youtube a few months ago. I just noticed it sounded different.
That knicks team, from a defensive standpoint, would absolutely terrorize these teams today. And with a dominant big man like Ewing, who could also stretch the defense, they'd probably be the champions. Charles Barkley was right..the only reason they made all those "defensive rule chages" in the NBA, was to make the game easier for a generation of watered down offensive players..Zones in the NBA, what a joke..
This clip is now 15 years old (can't believe that), and some of my VHS tapes have degraded over time. At least now that I'm converting to digital format there'll be no more degradation even if I watch it 403 times.
There was a brief period in '92 and '93 where the Knicks were ALMOST as good as Jordan's Bulls. So close.........yet so far.

At least now that I'm converting to digital format there'll be no more degradation even if I watch it 403 times.

i haven't seen this video in a long time, thanks for uploading, man
one thing, though: you might want to improve the quality of this video if you can, because it doesn't sound like it did the first time I saw it.
